For such a small store, it sure sells a lot of your Japanese essentials. Love this place!

My previous experience couldn't happen againwell right as rain same Chinese guy cutting the meat tries to screw me on serving. It's double barbecue meat with side, but he for some odd reason wants to give me single. I'm not imagining it. I see every Asian person getting the correct portion ahead of me on line. I question the counter lady as she spoke to him in Chinese. Her eyes said it all, and she shrugged her shoulders. I shrugged mine too and left. What's going on 99 Ranch?

Fun grocery store with a wide variety of Asian products and excellent produce. The Japanese sweet…read morepotatoes are one of my favorite buys. I saw several products that are harder to find here (hot pot broth, pho soup base, etc). We tried some soft bread from the bakery as well as egg tarts in different flavors which were both decent. We tried one of the hot food vendors once and ate there. The stand with the ducks and other meat hanging in the display case. I thought the meat was going to be hot, but it was basically room temp. Not sure if you're supposed to take it home and heat it up from this vendor or if they will warm it up for you on request. We tried the bbq spare ribs and roast pork belly, which had good flavor but would have been better hot. Would try the other vendors.

So one Saturday afternoon, I finally stopped by with my mom. The space itself is airy, with like floor-to-ceiling windows that let in beautiful natural sunlight. The sun hits these whimsical, almost 18k-gold-looking sculptures on their shelves, giving the shop an elevated feel. The shop is small- but it's the kind of place where you want to slow down and really look around. Manahel offers a nice variety of Yemeni honeys, each with its own benefits. I ended up choosing a ginger honey and another infused with lemon, while my mom went with the ginger for herself too. In addition to honey, they also carry oils for hair and skin, which was a nice bonus and made the shop feel more holistic instead of it being one-note. Let's talk price- it's definitely on the steeper side. The smallest jars I purchased were about $30 each. For me, it felt like it was for the greater good- especially since I teach and my students are always sick. It was quality, intention and something I'm actually using for my health and wellness. There are still a few other items I have my eyes on. Honestly, Manahel feels like a 3-in-1 spot where beauty, their tradition and wellness come together- and that to me, makes it worth to return.

Beautiful store, the owner is so welcoming & friendly. Their honey is phenomenal & healing. I'll…read moredefinitely be going back! Happy Yelping!
