As a visitor it can be unnerving visiting new places in the US, but soon as I walked into the store I received a warm welcome and felt immediately comfortable! The owner took a real interest in helping me and showing me local products. I wasn't sure what to expect walking in, as their website doesn't show their products. However there was an impressive selection to choose from, one that I felt encompassed a wide price point which I appreciated. There was lots of different brands/ fibers/ weights ranging from $4 to $30 (all great quality). A great store for garment/ sock knitters like myself, I did also spot some unique fibers that would be great for other items like bags or amigurumi. I walked in on a Sunday around 2pm. I was never greeted by any person. There were two tables of people knitting in groups. There was a strong odor of cigarette smoke outside the shop, but thought this could have been from someone smoking outside. Nope. The strong smoke odor permeated throughout the shop. I spent about 15 minutes in the shop, picking up several different skeins of yarn to inspect the fibers and composition. No one was at the register. I'm not even sure if anyone there was working or not. It felt like I had entered a party that I was not invited to. Strange experience. I wanted to support a local business instead of Michaels, but walked out without a purchase. Even as I was exiting there was no greeting of any kind. read more

I was visiting Naperville yesterday for a doctors appointment, and wanted to buy some good quality yarn afterwards to make a gift for someone. There used to be some really good yarn shops in Naperville, but they closed down. The closest one was in Lisle, which is where I ended up. Yarns Untold has a nice selection of yarn and accessories for crochet and knitting. The 2 owners have a passion for making their clientele feel like they belong there. I felt right at home when I walked in and explained what I was looking for. There's a big table inside that people can sit and work on their wip's (work in progress) and connect. It was my lucky day because they were celebrating international woven arts day and they set up tables and chairs for anyone who wants to work on their projects outside, and this included treats and a 50% off coupon for ice cream at the burger joint a few shops down on the strip. So although I only planned to buy the yarn and leave, I stuck around for about 1.5 hours and finished my wip and started a new one, and before long, there were so many women who were just chatting and crocheting and knitting together. It was really nice. I wish that was a thing they did every day for the summer. But Lisle isn't close to yorkville, so I wouldn't be able to get there on a regular basis anyway. I will be back in the future when I need more quality yarn and professional knowledgeable people to assist me in finding the perfect yarn for my projects. Highly recommend! read more

What a gorgeous little shop! Prices are reasonable and they have a wonderful selection of both yarns and notions. Stopped by while on vacation to buy some yarn to make my boyfriend a hat. Tina was extraordinarily knowledgable about how the yarns knit up and which one would be good for my project. She even helped my boyfriend pick out a color that would look great on him! There's a sign in the store that says something like 'you come in a customer and leave as family." It's so true! I wish I lived closer so that I could be a part of this LYS community!
