Material Girl was my favorite fabric store. I could always find what I wanted! Sadly, Material…read moreGirl is now closed. I have not found a quilt shop that even comes close to the wide variety of fabrics and the excellent quality of the fabrics at this former shop.

Just before I gave up on Material Girl altogether, it was taken over by a new owner. I only found…read moreout because I noticed changes like more classes, new classes and the ability to finally be able to pay online without having to find time in my day to make a call to share my credit card information, and better customer service on the phone. It made me ask if there was a change in management and was pleasantly surprised to hear, "yes!" I didn't have any idea how quickly someone could turn a business around from a place I really didn't care for but had limited options for an alternative to a place I ENJOY going to. Communication- you now actually get responses to questions via email within a day! Store- new owner actually took feedback from her customers and re-arranged the store. Now if you take a class, you are not shoved into what I would call a storage room. Classes are now in an area of the store, but doesn't interfere with those shopping. Customer Service- Absolutely amazing! Some previous staff still work there and I could tell how much happier they are at their jobs now. This seems to have translated to overall better customer service. Classes- I'm happy to see more "non-quilting" classes and the prices remain reasonable. You now also get class reminders and list of materials needed, in a reasonable amount of time before your class date. Kudos to the new team at Material Girl! I'll be signing up for more classes throughout the year and buying more fabric.

My girlfriend and I attended the class on August 24. The location is in a house in a nice…read moreneighborhood. There's parking on the street and in the driveway. When we got there, we were met by our class instructor, My. I don't believe that you can pick the instructor that you have, but I would suggest if you had the opportunity to have her as your instructor, I would highly recommend her. She was so nice and kind. It was easy to follow her simple instructions, even though I had never made pottery before. She made me feel very welcomed and she was extremely encouraging as well throughout the whole process. I had such an enjoyable time and of course the pottery making itself was just a blast, but she really added to the experience, to be honest with you. They give you an apron and all the tools and clay and water that you need to create your pottery with, so you don't have to really bring anything except yourself and a great attitude. It was easy to go back and pick up the pottery, although my girlfriend did this for us. She's a sweetheart. My girlfriend and I have not stopped talking about this experience, nor our instructor My and how we're looking forward to going again in the future. If you're looking for a date idea, guys, this is a 10 out of 10 experience!!! You get to keep one of your creations, and then I think each additional one is $10 after that? You then get to choose from, I think it was eight different glazes? I think it took about 2-3 weeks to get the pottery back, but I wasn't really keeping track of that. I really can't rank this experience high enough. I had a wonderful time and I know you will too!! Enjoy yourselves! Just book a class already!!!!!

This place is incredible!!! The space is gorgeous and the instructor was so patient and kind. In…read moretwo hours we got to learn how to make pottery from a ball of clay and were able to make three items. 100/10
