My go-to online yarn shop for all of my knitting needs-- specifically to buy yarn! I haven't found a ton of selection with their notions and project bags, but I am very pleased with their yarns: -They have a wide selection of yarns, and I love that they always have sweater quantities in stock and ready to ship out within a day or two. My favorites are Isager, Sandnes Garn, Rauma, Hillesvag, and Jamieson's of Shetland. These are top tier yarn companies that are not the easiest to find online, and I have been so happy they are always in stock at this store. -The shop images are clear and easy to see, and I always find it very smooth and pleasant to shop online. I find myself using their site to compare yarn colors and get complete yarn information all the time since they list everything out & their images are high resolution. -They usually process my order quickly, and a huge bonus that they offer 10% certain brands and free ball winding. - I always get free shipping, and my order is easy to track and usually arrives within the work week. Overall I highly recommend them! read more

The yarns that are shown online are not held in store. I went to this location and was told the order would not be ready as the items are not held in stock. This is something that should be noted on the website when ordering that items shown are not actually in stock and might need to get shipped. If I'd had known that the items are not in stock or in store I wouldn't have been driving for 3 hrs to get here. Wanted to get a yarn treat left empty-handed. read more

I needed a skein of Malabrigo yarn to go with some yarn I have. Since Malabrigo's colors vary widely from batch to batch I asked on the online order if they could pick one for me with less red in it. They replied and sent a photo of the exact skein they would send, wonderful. It arrived today and is a good match to go with the yarn I have. Great customer service for online order. i really appreciate it. read more

Holy cow! I don't even knit or crochet but I was in love with this beautiful store. Even considered for a hot minute that I might take up yet another craft hobby. LOL Instead I followed my daughter around and touched all the soft and pretty yarn while she decided which of the thousands of yarns she wanted to make her sweater with. "Soft yarn, warm yarn, pretty ball of yarn. Happy yarn, sleepy yarn. Purl, Knit Purl." Sorry back to my review. We were greeted by 2 associates as we entered and they were happy to answer my daughter's questions. Not only is this a retail space, but a warehouse. They were glad to pull anything they had online from the warehouse for her to look at. Can't say enough about the quality and selection here. read more

Found this store online. I was searching for wool yarn in a shade of red I was unable to find anywhere else. I was on a deadline and they were very helpful in accommodating my deadline. The yarn is beautiful and I'm happy to say the color is exactly what I believed I was buying based on what I saw online. Hope I get to go to the store in person someday; it looks amazing. read more

I was nearly overwhelmed at the selection and quality of yarn they carry. Everyone was incredibly helpful. They have pieces all over as samples. The only thing wrong with it is that it's a long way from my home. :) But anytime I am near Elgin, I make it a point to go there and find more beautiful yarn to add to my hoard' read more

Went to Wool and Company for the first time and was so impressed! The yarn was displayed beautifully, with a massive selection available. Anything you could want is right there for great prices. They have comfortable leather couches and chairs for seating as well as a long work table for community projects or events. The staff was friendly, helpful, but not overbearing. Because of their massive warehouse connected to the storefront you can have anything you need in a matter of minutes without having to wait! Will definitely be going again. read more

Hugs to Wool & Co! They are my go-to yarn store. They have a great selection of quality yarns and needles, and with the free shipping they offer their prices are on the better side. I wish I had a local yarn store, but Wool & Co saves the day every time:) read more

This review is based on my two (so far) online purchases. I haven't been in the brick and mortar store yet, but someday may just visit! They typically carry yarn which I may not be able to find locally. Fast shipping. Note of thanks is a nice touch. Very reliable. So glad they carry the yarns that they do, have it in stock (and others do not), and ship as if they are local. It saves time in the long run since you don't have to go in your car to get it! read more

I order yarn couple time, first time my order was delayed, but still in a frame of time. The second ( II) order was placed on 02.27.26 I got it on 05.11.26. The third ( III) order I placed 03.27.26 this order came April 6TH of 2026 and that was the SAME YARN. I called numerous times and correspondence was on time, but it seems that they all don't know what they are doing. All 4 skeins where different definitely in a different colors, so my opinion is based on facts and experience and I think they just want to sell anything they have, they DO NOT care about the customers and their needs. I ruined my project because of them, wasn't able to do on time and because of the colors I do not know what to do with these 4 different color of balls. I never asked them to wind for me, they did it because that is not that obvious of color difference. I do NOT recommend anyone to buy from this company online, because you never know what and when you are going to get. Very disappointed and sad customer. read more

Great space to find the yarn you need. I'll be back. Clean and well lite. Friendly and informed sales person.

Service is amazing, if they don't have it out front, just ask. They will have it brought out. The selection is amazing. Worth the drive.

I order yarn online and I love their selection, prices, discounts and shipping is free! Also love the free ball winding. I would highly recommend them! read more

I have not been to the Chicago area in years but I love Wool and Co and I purchase from them regularly. They have a very large and thorough range of yarns and what makes shopping from far so easy is that each yarn is carefully and simply photographed so it is easy to see the exact color. Some yarn sites mix up color families, but Wool and Co puts yarns of the same color family together so it is much easier to compare one shade with another. So if you are not sure which red you like, you can see the small differences. Mixing colors is just confusing. I am also grateful for their shipping policy. If you want to try a yarn or a color, you can purchase one or two and not pay high shipping charges. Last but not least, Wool and Co has really excellent customer service. The reps are knowledgeable and helpful. If I lived nearby,, I would spend a lot of time at Wool and Co. read more

Beautiful spacious store with an excellent selection of natural fiber yarns. I'm always greeted and offered assistance as I enter, but not bothered at all when I just want to browse. The service is excellent, including free winding. I usually end up crocheting in the comfy nook set aside for the purpose for far longer than it takes to wind my yarn. There are even times that I've stopped in to work for a while just to have a quiet place to relax. Wool & Company is rapidly becoming my happy place read more

I stumbled upon this website while looking for a yarn and trying to avoid the expensive international shipping fees, what a gem of a find! I'm NY based so the free shipping is such an incredible perk. They offer an extensive collection of yarn brands , tools and notions. The customer service is excellent. 10/10. They are now my go to company for all my knitting and crochet needs. read more

A friend and I attended a knitting class in this shop last week and from the moment we entered the store, our experience was excellent. We were greeted warmly by a team member at the door (every single one of the team working that day was friendly, knowledgeable and extremely helpful), the selection of yarns was huge and beautifully displayed in this well-designed space. All that and the class began (and ended) on time. As a small business owner, I always notice -- and enjoy -- good customer service. Wool & Co. could give lessons in how to treat customers. I look forward to my next trip here. read more

I ordered on Wednesday before the 4th. I figured with all my ordering experience with other places it would be here in a week or two. WOW EVEN with the 4th of July my order arrived on Saturday the 5th. The price for this yarn was exceptional. I was looking every where else nad it was substantially higher. It was easy to order once I found the site by searching for the yarn I needed. I just want to say I just found my new online store for ordering my wool. THANK YOU WOOL & CO!!!!! Fast Fast Fat!! Large store with plenty of lovely choices. Staff was friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this shop.

I, recently, purchased several skeins of hand-dyed yarn and a beautiful, LYKKE wood crochet hook set in a suede-like storage case. Wool & Company offers free ball winding and free shipping on orders over $100. Love that! The unfortunate part of my experience came after using the crochet hooks on different types of yarn. I found that they were difficult to work with. The hooks drag on the yarn and are not easy to hold in position because they do not have a center flat area for gripping. I had already disposed of the cardboard packaging sleeve two weeks prior, when the set arrived. When I inquired about a return, Wool & Company referred me to their return policy and refused to accept. I understand their position about not accepting items that are not in the original packaging. However, I believe that Wool & Company would benefit from allowing room for individual cases and offer some accommodation when appropriate. I would have liked to share my experience using the LYKKE crochet hooks, but I could not find a link for product reviews on the Wool & Company website. read more

This is the best yarn store! Great customer service, wide range of yarn, the price points vary so you can splurge or stick to a tight budget I consider them my local yarn store and I live in California!! I bought two sweaters on eBay that i discovered had holes. Since I want to keep the amazing but hole blighted sweaters I drove to Wool and Company to see if they could be rehabilitated. Karen was amazing she made multiple suggestions on how to fix them. My 92 year old mom is a superb knitter so she will try to do repairs. This store is located in a business district off the beaten path but you have to visit. The yarns they sell are gorgeous and the also have pre assembled kits to make scarves and sweaters . Lots of helpful staff. If you knit or want to learn stop by. You will leave with the most fabulous skeins of yarn. read more

This is one of the most amazing yarn shops I have visited, across the country. I was a little skeptical, having been to the original location in downtown St. Charles, but took a chance and visited the new shop in person. Didn't have high expectations, seeing that it was like in a corporate/warehouse park. However, as soon as we stepped inside, I knew it was special. The new space is so thoughtfully designed, from a quiet nook where u can hang and knit, to a spacious place with yarns organized in such a thoughtful way. They had a wonderful selecting of finished samples, all with labels of the pattern and yarn used. They had a great selection of fibers, colors, and weight. And there were plenty of staff ready to help. Winding the yarn that we purchased was a speedy process too. Will definitely be back! read more

Would I fly to Illinois just to visit this yarn shop? Yes, I would, but I'd rather spend my money on beautiful yarn instead of a plane ticket! Sadly, there are no local yarn shops near me with the yarn that I want. (Sorry Jo-Ann's, you don't even qualify as a yarn shop). I ordered from Wool & Company online because they have a huge selection of Hedgehog Fibers, Malabrigo, and Berroco yarns which are my favorites! Their free ball winding service is incredible (IYKYK) so that I can start knitting with my new yarn right away instead of waiting for a kid-free day to bust out my ball winder and swift to wind skeins into balls myself. I would so love to visit Wool & Company in person one day, but for now, I'm more than satisfied with my yarns from them that I've already been knitting with. And I've already placed another order of yarn just two weeks after my last order! Gorgeous yarns, amazing selection, fast shipping, and incredible free ball winding! Love them! read more

This is like the holy grail of knitting stores - the quantity and quality of yarn is incredible and the staff customer service is seriously out of this world. They have an amazing variety of yarn (price, material, weight), tools and books, and classes/gatherings. Every time I've gone in, the staff has been lovely. I am a beginner and they've helped me pick out materials for projects and provided knitting help when I got stuck. i live about an hour away but I always make the drive because it's just so much better of an experience than I've had at any other knit shop. Definitely worth stopping in if you haven't! read more
