My daughter wanted to buy a TY stuffed dragon. She had a limited amount of money and she made the decision to buy the one we thought was $9.99. Got up to the register and the woman rang it up at $6.99. I exclaimed to my daughter, "NICE! It's cheaper than we thought." The woman took my card and then said, "wait that one is $9.99." I said oh that's fine that's what we were expecting. She went on to adjust the order and said "yeah the ones with sequence are 9.99 and the regular ones are 6.99... but you knew that." I was shocked! Was she accusing me of trying to get one over on her? I told her I "assumed we misread the price or there was a sale." I am not the one who told her the price, she's the worker she should know how to ring up merchandise correctly! She said "that's fine for you but doesn't work well at the end of the day." She treated me like I was trying to steal $3! Like I switched the tags or demanded a lower price. SHE rang up the order! I said it was cheaper than what I expected and was fine with her changing the price. She still was itchy. We won't be going back and hope you don't either.

"YARN," I shouted and immediately spun to my right and into the driveway of what looked to be someone's house. Now, you probably think I'm some sort of hardcore knitting addict but that isn't the case. I just got back into knitting and am in the middle of knitting a pair of hand warmers for my brother's girlfriend. I bought yarn that was slightly thinner than the yarn I used to make my first pair of hand warmers, so it looked really "loose" on the needles. I wanted a slightly smaller set of needles but ran out of time before our trip. I sort of/definitely planned to stop at whatever yarn place there was to scratch that itch of feeling unprepared. So that's how we ended up at Playing with Yarn. I immediately found a set of size 2 bamboo needles for the insanely low price of $4.70. Granted these were not Clover's Takuma needles but they were bamboo and under five dollars. I took a look at the yarn - there is a pretty wide selection- before paying. I knit mostly in my school years, so any skein of yarn over $9 is pricey to me even if it's super nice merino wool, hand dyed, blah blah blah. It's a very small shop to be sure, but the owners are nice and the selection is good and decently priced. Also, if you go up to the second floor, there is a great view of Lake Superior!

Came upon this gem of a place while going into Cloquet for…read morelunch at Pedro's. It's directly across the street. My best friend and I decided to stop in before eating. We spent an hour there while enjoying talking to the owners and sampling many of their products. They were also serving free champagne today which was SOOOO good! The owners have an amazing story of their life in Hawaii and how this business was started. I ended up with a lotion, bath product and lip scrub. Later that evening I tried them all and I am 100% impressed. My gf also came home with goodies that she loves. No more having to drive to Bath and Body in the Mall. I will definitely be shopping here. It will become my go to place for gifts for my friends/sisters. Any chance I get I love to support local businesses. If you do too you must check this place out.
