Mostly DJ's but occasionally live music and Rock Nights with bands. The dance floor is not huge and usually packed. It bounces too especially when groups of Goths in New Rocks are jumping around. This is the third floor too. Not designed for the disabled as lots of steep stairs to the free cloakroom and ticket office. Loud, friendly and jumping this is an established place having been there around 25 years or more and just as popular now as it always was. Drinks and cocktails are reasonably priced. Plenty of room to circulate if you are good at pushing. The long bar can involve a wait or misheard orders but not much of a problem. One corner used to be called Goth Corner as it was where they all congregated but now the students seem to have discovered it too. You can often find a seat there or else you will stand. Once upon a time you always stuck to the bar floor but they seem to have solved that problem. A shame as it was famous for it. A good night out but your ears will ring for hours.

It is spread over three floors and has many different rooms all playing various sorts of music that suit all tastes. Last year they had a very good female artist playing guitar and singing then in the next room it was 80's Old Skool!! The staff are very helpful and door staff friendly, I have rarely seen any trouble or 'incidents' at Sugar Mill, the people that go in there are generally over 21 and just want to have a good night.

The bar has a big screen and is a bit of a barn. No character. Upstairs has pool tables but on a band night it has a stage and can get packed. Many good local and visiting bands. Recently the Blood Doctors, a London band, went down really well. Cheap to get in to see a band the drinks are reasonably priced. Tends to be rather alternate and studenty. Can be a bit impersonal on an ordinary night although tables, with bench seating around make it good for conversation. Have had some great nights when bands have been on. Friendly place. No trouble.

Upstairs you have the club, complete with dancefloor, bar, DJ and pole dancing poles. The drinks in Legends are expensive, there is also an entry charge, which in my opinion it isnt worth paying for. At the age of 24 years old i felt old going in here, but then who wouldnt when you are surrounded by 16 and 17 year olds? Legend is very relaxed on their rules of who they let in i guess this is because they are struggling to get customers and need the money coming in! If your idea of a good night is dancing around with a group of teenagers then Legend is the place for you, it certainly wasnt for me.

When I got to the club they asked me for my ID to which I handed it over but to my surprise didn't let me in, the reason being that my ID didn't show my date of birth. I didn't bring my passport for obvious safety reasons thinking it wouldn't be a problem showing my ID as long as I am of age. After much effort nagging the security to just search on Google how to read a Romanian ID (my luck it was also raining that day and had to wait in the rain) ew years eve at Popworld hoping to have a good time. The music is quite varied depending on which night you go but on the weekends it is usually your normal dance/pop mix. It's open until 2am, and free to get in until 10pm. Prices vary but the most expensive is a pint at around £4: Cheapest £1. they range from strong to OMG! Beer £1.20 a pint, spirits are 45p a shot Food is available upstairs and downstairs, along with bottles of house wine - a vegetarian selection too. Chip butty 50p There is a bus service for students from the Uni. Lots of students go but any age is welcome. It's for the misfits really who don't fit into the regular club scene. Great friendly place. Punks, Skaters, Goths etc. On warm nights there is an outdoor area with shelters a bit like bike sheds. The boast is you can get in, get drunk, eat and get a taxi home for under £20. Hotels are cheap if you live somewhere else.
