Fun place to take the pups and have a beer with your friends. Loved that there is a dog bouncer to ensure safe play. I felt comfortable with my fur babies there. The food is great you just have to eat it outside the dog park which is totally understandable! However you can order drinks inside the park. A very fun place for humans and fur babies.
A dog friendly area in Austin that sells food and drinks? What's not to love! We decided to stop by Yard Bar looking for a nice chill spot to spend a Sunday afternoon with our dog and here's what we found: parking is decent and the exterior of the place looks very nice and clean, the interior is very much the same. Like all other dog bars they do charge a fee to have your dog go into their dog park area but not for their general eating area. The fee is about $13 and you do have to fill out information there so be aware of that. We opted not to go into the dog park there as it was too hot and there weren't many dogs inside. From the outside it also looked like there wasn't too much shade for the dogs but again, hard to confirm as we didn't actually go in. They have water bowls available to grab your dog some water in the back which is a plus. When seated we ordered some food to get things started. We got a turkey dog, kids grilled cheese, and a chicken sandwich. You order up at the window and then they bring it out to you at your table which is nice. The food was a pretty big miss though, the kids grilled cheese was half a grilled cheese, which while we understand it's a kids version, it's just cheese and bread, give a full one. The turkey dog was a hit, at least with our dog cause he scarfed it down. The chicken sandwich on the other hand was awful. It came with about 7 pickles which made no sense, it was also a bit burnt and way too salty. If we hadn't paid like $13 for it, we probably wouldn't have finished it. To be honest with you, Yard Bar does not feel like a standout spot. If you're going to pay the money for the experience you may as well go to Mutts, which in our opinion is a much nicer experience.
What a phenomenal concept! The staff are always so friendly, the vibe is relaxed, and the bar offers a nice variety of alcoholic and non alcoholic options! I love how you can trust the staff and other responsible dog owners to play and fawn over your pup in a SAFE and well kept environment. While mine love to sit on the tables, it's great for dog socialization and has certainly taught my pup a thing or two! 100% worth the membership but also day passes available too which is really cool. Since moving out of Texas, I have not been able to find something even remotely close to this and I miss it so much!!!!
This is a great place to bring your neutered pups to run, play, and socialize. We try to come at least once a week. They offer day passes and other options, such as multiple-day passes or a monthly membership. One thing to note is that this is not daycare. They have friendly staff to help keep an eye on the dogs, but it is still the owner's responsibility to control their dogs. About the space, inside the main area is a huge fenced-in area, and adults can drink and hang out. Due to the dogs, no food, personal toys, or dog treats are allowed. On the other side, that's not fenced in; they serve food, but the dogs have to be on leashes.
What a fun spot especially for those of us who are dog lovers but don't own one. Here at the Yard Bar, I can get my doggie fix here while enjoy some drinks with friends. For those of y'all with a dog, they do offer a day pass or membership for furry animals. What's neat about this spot is dog owners are allowed to let their dogs roam leashless. One thing I want to stress is this place is not meant to replace doggy day care. It isn't the Yard Bar's responsibility to make sure your dog is ok. It's like a playground, dog owners take the responsibility to keep an eye on their dog. I mean they are animals after all... As for the bar, I enjoy they have a full cocktail program and you can get your fix of sliders while on-site. Just know you have to eat your food at the designated benches outside by Fat City Stacks.
A great idea, but conditions today were less than ideal. From what I understand, their food license has been taken away recently so no food available, only drinks. Drinks (such as their house marg) were good, but some were quite small. The place was packed with dogs and due to some recent rain (within the last 2 days) it was still pretty muddy. Staff was helpful when they could be and did give dogs water & clean up some puke from the ground when it happened. Pups were having a great time, but unlike a dog park some owners were drinking / working / checked out and not making sure their dogs were playing nice. Dogs were also all over the picnic tables which was cute, but wish there were some higher options so random dogs can't just hop on your table and knock over your drinks. There was supposed to be a separate small dog area but no one appeared to be using it (unsure if it was due to mud or something else). Overall, I like the concept but without food, not sure why people would pay to go here vs other free (BYOB) dog parks.
Yard Bar was such a fun time. My friend and I took her dog here and spent 3 hours playing with dogs and drinking. I really liked the drink and merchandise options too. The park is free for humans but the dog charges depend on what pass or subscription you choose.
I went by here a few weeks ago for a happy hour. They do charge a small fee if you have a dog but for all humans it's free. The drinks were great. It was fun spot for a networking happy hour as everyone could bring their dogs to play while we all chatted. The outdoor area was way bigger than I thought it was going to be. All of the doggos seemed to have a blast. There's a lot of room to run around and enough picnic tables for us to chill at.
Our 2 year old puppy really enjoyed herself. Couldnt wait to get in. The price is decent. Once we got settled in we got hungry and thirsty. So we ordered a couple drinks and burgers. Only thing I wish they had were tvs so hubby could watch sports.
My pups and I loooooove Yard Bar. You can purchase a monthly pass, which gets you and your pup unlimited entry for a month, a day pass, or a 5 day pass. There are 2 parks, one for the small pups and one for the large pups. Unfortunately, just like any enclosed dog park, the large pup park has all the fun! It's connected to the bar, has ample space to run around in, and has just as many tables as it does space. The small pup park? Not so much. It has maybe 3 benches and a little course-- that's it. I usually take my boys into the large pup park, and try to find other little ones to play with. If you are purchasing food, you have to step outside of the dog park and walk to the opposite end of the bar. The food is excellent bar food, and they also have items on the menu for your pups.
Yard Bar is an amazing concept - it's where a dog- friendly park meets bar! There used to be a restaurant attached to it, but it closed down unfortunately. Margo had the time of her life! She made new friends, got to run around and play. They even have attendants that pick up after the dogs which is pretty cool. They charge a $9/fee per per and provide WiFi - could probably setup shop and get some work done here if you wanted; highly recommend!
I like moscow Mules but I've never had a frozen one. It was AMAZING! A nice relaxing evening watching happy dogs playing and a delicious drink in hand. What a great place!
This place is a guaranteed good time for you and your pup! Always fun and a good energy in here year round. There is always events here so check Instagram to see what is going on any particular day. My main point of advice would be to always keep an eye on your dog. It can be annoying for someone's dog to be constantly barking in your face or just being a little too aggressive with the other dogs and the owner is nowhere to be found. I would give 4 stars here but I think the drinks are a little pricey and with that said I think it's a little odd to ask for tips for the park staff as you check in.

Yard Bar is an amazing place that our pup loves. Bark Rangers are normally on top of any hijinks that could escalate and the customers are pretty chill overall. So why not a 5? Tap selection imo is limited and not great. We have so many amazing breweries in Austin it's a shame they have such a limited beer selection. read more

We took our puppy to Yard Bar last night after hearing recommendations from other dog owners. The little guy is only 11 weeks so he couldn't go into the dog park, but we still had a great time. It was nice being able to eat with our pup and let him socialize with other dogs and people. The staff is very friendly and everyone clearly loves dogs. Our food was decent although a little overpriced - my boyfriend got the yard burger which was $9 and didn't come with fries and I ordered the Hummingbird Salad with chicken which was $15 and there wasn't much chicken on the salad. We also ordered two beers on tap. Overall, it was a nice place to hang out. We will definitely go back to hang out and grab a beer, though probably not order food. read more
Had such an awesome experience here! Tons of seating in and out of the dog area. Super delicious burger and fries. Decent margarita. Definitely want to come back! I wish they would open up a location in South Austin though! read more

My dog has a crazy amount of fun there. It's exactly what she needs since i don't have a yard myself. I'm happy they do not allow intact dogs there. Trained or not, shouldn't be allowed. (replying to ones bad review above). The people that hang out are awesome and are respectful. Having attendants help as well. Though I'm very aware of my pups whereabouts, I like the extra eyes so i can relax and have a drink on my day off, which i couldn't at a normal dog park. Everyone is so friendly with everyone's dogs and engages in play. My dog loves all the other dogs and all the new human friends she meets there. Even my little one likes to hang out and doesn't get bothered there either. Win win for everyone read more

If you have a dog and enjoy the weather finally cooling off , you must check this Place out ! Really cool concept and very friendly staff! Responsible dog owners can enjoy coffee or cocktails outside while their dogs run around and make friends ! For a $5 day pass you can chill, play and eat for as long as you like.... My dog chose to sit on my lap the whole time but as long as you wear super casual clothes and don't mind doggy slobber snd dirty toys, it's all good ! The dog rangers are very attentive and help manage the dogs and any scuffles or problem children (or owners) pretty swiftly . I didn't get the chance to eat , but it smelled great ! You just have to grab a snack on the other side of the park area ! I will be back when in the neighborhood for sure ! read more

Wildly popular and with good reason. I figure there were at least 120 dogs present and not once did I witness any upsets. Lots of canine socializing, sniffing and tail wagging going on. Humans were also sweet and social with each other and the beer and wine flowed. Sunny Sunday afternoon with temps in the low 70s... Four main areas anchored by a small restaurant & bar serving up fairly priced treats for humans and dogs that fit the locale and the mood: - Medium and large dog "park" - enclosed by high fencing - that includes plenty of human seating areas. Lots of small dogs here, too. Everyone getting along! Can we can this magic and send it to Wash DC? Bark Rangers facilitated the events of the day. - Small dog "park" - enclosed by high fencing - with one (or was it two?) picnic tables. Two or three happy lil critters here - Separate dining/seating open area with about twelve picnic tables. This is where my 4 month old puppy and I ended up because my girl hasn't been spayed yet. She still had a chance to interact with about ten dogs - gigantic to tiny. We couldn't have asked for a better interaction opportunity for my newbie. - Tons of parking... and yet we had to park on the street. No probs. Lots of street parking available, too. read more

I was recommended this bar and will definitely be back! I was looking forward to the food options that I saw on their social media but turns out they are no longer offering that. The service at the bar was great and ability to have my pup with me was amazing. read more
Yard Bar is a neat idea and worth checking out if you're looking for a dog-friendly spot. Came here on a Saturday for lunch, but we didn't enter the dog park side. Smart to keep the food patio and dog park sides separated though. I like the dog-friendly touches - water is easily available for dogs (or you) by the restaurant, and the metal latches attached to the tables keep your dog nearby while you eat. Ordered the Hummingbird Sandwich with the side salad. The food was tasty, but a bit on the pricier side. A downside was the crazy amount of flies, but that's not surprising since all the seating is outdoors. The people working were friendly, and explained how Yard Bar worked since it was our first time. Also, two thumbs up for the good-sized parking lot. If I'm in need of a dog-friendly eatery, I'll definitely keep Yard Bar in mind. read more
Places like Yard Bar make the world a better place. - happy dogs - really good beer - good food - happy people Yard dog is a cool place to stop in with your pup, enjoy a cold beer/lunch, and a casual conversation with others. The yard is huge with plenty of space for your dog to run and play. They have designated areas for big and small dogs. The beer selection is full of variety and really good beer. read more

Stopped by here before we picked up our puppy from Taurus Academy to see what the deal was. Great spot to bring your well mannered bestie! We tried some of their beers on tap and enjoyed watching the pooches run and play. Did not try any food as it's not allowed in the dog play area. Employees were very friendly and explained to us newbies how things worked. Had a great time and will return with our Daisy! read more

What's a better combo then you, your dog and a bar?! They do have a parking lot and street parking for when the lots full. You pay $7.50 your dog but humans are free. They have a great system of going in and out in order to ensure safety for dogs as they transition off leash. Also, as you drink and/or enjoy time with others your dog(s) has lots of room to run around. Plus they have park rangers to help keep an eye out for dogs that are rough housing, humping, etc. Awesome concept!! One thing to note is they do sell food but it is outside of the dog park area. read more

I write this as i am currently in the park with my dog, i'm giving it two starts because although it is my first time coming to this bar/park i'm slightly frustrated that after i paid $7.50 only for my dog to play in the park (which is outrageous) just for them to tell me they need to feel up my dog before he goes in after i've already told them he's been neutered. they then proceed to say that he 'looks like he's still intact' because he has fluff where his balls are supposed to be. I told them my dog gets skittish when new people approach him and he says that then maybe he shouldn't go in the park as it'd be a problem AFTER i already paid almost $8 just so my dog can play, and honestly who wouldn't be slightly scared when there's random people trying to feel you up? Anyways, after that they ask if he's better around girls i say yes because it was a man trying to grope my dog, they let me in the park, i let him off leash and they proceed to follow my dog around for the next 10 plus minutes literally trying to feel if he has balls after i told them annoyed 10x that he was neutered as a pup. not only was it slightly rude and a bit much to assume i'm lying about my dog being neutered, maybe because he's kinda scary looking and big to some people, but he was being swarmed by workers and dogs and was really stressed when he first came in due to that problem. Next, i walk in, think to myself oh maybe i'll have a drink since it is a bar and then i turned around and sat down because it was $10 for a drink and i'm a college student so no thanks. I do give them props for having a nice park, my dog is enjoying himself and doesn't want to leave because he's made a lot of friends. the environment is really nice because of the customers and their dogs as well as it's fairly big with fans that mist water over the dogs and water bowls everywhere. I would love to come back again maybe if they don't insist on feeling up my dog. also it is quite pricey so it's another factor why i may not be back much or at all. also, i have to say my dog was probably one of the most calm but playful unproblematic dogs in the park today so the fact that they told me he shouldn't go in because he doesn't like being bombarded by new humans was harsh. if i ever come back i'll be sure to update. read more

I always only have the most positive things to say about this place. The staff is so friendly and caring. They understand what being a dog parent is all about and they understand the different personalities of all dogs especially my grumpy old man and crazy young puppy! The prices are so reasonable I hope that is enough for the staff to support themselves! The are open 7 days a week!!! What this is the best news ever. We go before closing so my dogs are tired for bed, they don't kick you out and they work with you anyway they can. They all have helped me in so many ways and again can I just say how awesome the staff is. Beyond friendly you can tell they love their jobs. My boys are happy and so am I. Beers and watching my boys play. Always a great time!!! Please never stop doing what you do. Even during covid everything has been amazing!!! read more

My pup, Millie, is a shy girl but was treated so well by staff and patrons alike! We paid for the day pass to test things out and will definitely be back for that monthly membership. Being fairly new to Austin, it was a great way for me to meet new people and for her to get out of her shell a bit! She mainly hugged the fence by the door but our goal is to venture into the center of the group and both make a few new friends. Thanks for the great experience! read more

I'm curious what dogs start thinking when they're brought here: 1. "Oh c'mon, some of these dudes really smell like ass." 2. "Wow, I've never seen dookie that big before." 3. "Hey, this isn't real ice cream. Didn't we just pass an Amy's? No, really..." Okay, maybe not. But here's what I think: 1. Yard Bar has lots and lots of parking. 2. When two dogs scuffle, every other dog in the place runs over and shouts "Wassup? Wassup?" 3. You don't have to booze, eat, or even own a dog to have a good time here. But you really should like dogs. And not be surprised when they like you back. They're having a good time. read more
What a sweet bark bar! Not being a dog owner myself, I can't speak to how the off-leash park area works for those little guys but we had a great time with good service in the outside area. The design feels a little spare -- picnic benches and bright blue railings. The policies around the bark park seem really well thought out -- no food in there, no personal dog toys so as not to create conflict. They've got bark rangers who are monitoring the dogs and all dogs must be up to date on vaccinations. We each had a drink and shared some appetizers. Deviled eggs and hushpuppies. The hushpuppies were definitely the standout. They are fantastic. Fresh and hot and moist and a little spicy. Of course, we had the house made cheez whiz drenched on them so... it's hard to top that. My drinks were okay but need some tweaks. Catahoula Mama is a spicy margarita style drink - long on the agave, short on the tequila. The 67 cooler had little flavor and the st. germain didn't pop like I expected. A cool spot I'd definitely bring friends with pups to but I might not come rollin' solo or sans four footed friend - mostly due to my propensity to sweat. ** Edit after owner response: They don't have TVs on purpose so that people are watching their dogs. ** read more
When I saw the Yard Bar project on Kickstarter I instantly joined the ranks of Austinite supporters. It has been a long journey of patience to await the opening of this place, and the wait was worth it. We have been multiple times since membership opening weekend and have always had a good experience. Our two dogs love the open space to run around, the agility equipment, and just hanging out with their humans while we enjoy a drink or two. The craft cocktails are well done. Be careful to watch out for playful pups running to the water as you make your way up to the bar window to order your drinks. They have numerous water bowls throughout the park, but most of them are near the bar area. The bark rangers do their best to keep up the park free of steaming piles, but I always find myself picking up after someone else. So be careful where you walk, especially in the evening as the park is dimly lit. The bark rangers are friendly, and do well to help mitigate any potential dog brawls, without being overly sensitive. Dogs will be dogs after all. The mister fans make the Texas summer heat more bearable, and there is plenty of seating scattered throughout. Once the dogs have worn themselves out a bit, I like to take them on leash to the other side of the park to enjoy some human food. They also have some dog snacks on the menu. The menu offers some light lunch size picnic offerings. I actually liked their burger better than the Shake Shack patty I had recently. You can make your visit as long or as short as you like. They have washing stations should your dog pick up any extra dirt. The only thing I wish was different was the ground for the dog park. I wish they had the special awesome dog grass that my doggy day care has installed recently. But, I know that stuff is expensive. read more
Lots of fun for both dogs and their humans. There's a separate area for small dogs, but most just go in the main area unless they are in yet another separate dining area. Always fresh water available for pooches and a nice selection of craft beers and spirits for their people. Food fare is more than fair, in terms of menu, ingredients and taste. Dogs of all sizes, people of all types, all hanging and enjoying each other's company and a great place. Highly recommended! read more

I think the first time I came here, I was on edge primarily because of my dog being new and not knowing what to expect. Now that I've had Sterling (THE Sterling) for about 5 months and I've been needing to exercise/socialize my dog and also grab a beer - Yard Bar has been my spot. The unlimited memberships are nice because when you have one, and you live relatively close by, you don't feel obligated to stay a certain amount of time to get your money's worth. They pay for themselves really fast. My dog can be a jerk sometimes, a lot of times, and the Bark Rangers are excellent. They know how to handle my dog and also to ignore him that vast majority of the time when he's having a tantrum. They know how to distinguish rough playing from fighting. I've been meaning to bring cash for the tip jar but I'm forgetful and I don't like carrying cash, but they really deserve it. Lastly, if you were to view Yard Bar as a bar with a theme - because let's face it, a dog park is not everyone's ideal bar - you end up with a bar full of a diverse group of people who all love dogs. I like being around dog people. It's easy to start conversations and share stories. Dogs do all the ice breaking. All in all, this is a really special place. Bonus: It's fun to find a dog look alike. read more

Does it stay wet after it rains?
Yes, it does. Most of the seating is wooden and the yard is dirt/mulch. It dries out pretty quick when it's warm though! They have a dog wash station to rinse your pup before you leave if they get too muddy though!
Can you bring your own food from outside?
Hello friend, Yard Bar has a counter service restaurant. No outside food is allowed.
