i am only writing this review just so other people won't experience what my husband and I did on our recent visit. Each room is being divided by halfway wall, so whatever happens in the other rooms with other clients like loud snoring, very weird and uncomfortable noises as other clients are getting a massage.... Talking and laughing in the hallway) you will hear . It was so hard for me to stay focused and relax. The worst part is the girl YAN is having fun with this situation and laugh about . I have never seen such a rude and unprofessional with an aggressive behavior in my life. She is asking aggressively to sell you 90 minutes massage so she can charge you 30$ tips. Unbelievable how rude this woman was. She was literally making fun of me because I was about to leave the room because of all horrible sounds that client was making fun. This place is located in the city of Benicia & the place looks beautiful! But as I entered, I thought I would be welcomed with nice greeting. When I arrived, the host asked me if I needed to use the bathroom. I said yes, she rudely said ok, hurry up. When I got out, she said, common, let's hurry up to the massage area. I went there to relax & her greeting was so rushed. The vibe was terrible!!! As for the massage, it was great! Too bad I didn't get the lady's name. After the massage, I went to pay the host at the cashier. I gave my 20% tip of $15 for the $70, 1 hr massage. She rudely said it's $20 tip for a 1 hr massage. I gave this place a second chance after a terrible experience a couple of years ago, and I deeply regret it. Years ago, I received a bizarre massage here that included my face, which actually left me with a noticeable bruise on my cheek. I only returned today because I received a gift certificate for my birthday. Somehow, tonight was even worse. I booked a chair massage ahead of time. When I arrived, there was no chair available, and I was told they would "just focus on my back and shoulders." Instead, the therapist did strange and uncomfortable leg stretches and then used their elbow to dig with excruciating pressure all the way down my spine and down to my calf. Here is the thing: I actually love deep tissue massages. I have a very high pain tolerance and can usually handle a lot of pressure. But this was completely unbearable and deeply uncomfortable. I repeatedly asked the therapist to use less pressure, but my requests were ignored. I was counting down the minutes until it was finally over. I already know I am going to be painfully sore for at least the next three days. To top it all off, the owner is always incredibly rude and lacks any semblance of customer service. If you are a person of color do not go here the look on the masseuse face was very unsettling she had an attitude for no reason I was extremely polite about getting a massage and the area I was having most pain in she ignored that and rushed me to the table then proceeded to tell me to take my clothes off literally came back 45 seconds later while I was in the middle of getting undressed then I finally laid on the table. She comes back and seemed like she didn't want to touch by putting a sheet over my body and head and proceeded with a rub that was not soothing or comfortable at all.Mind you I've been here one time before and the Massage was excellent services was excellent as well me then I asked here if everything was ok and she simply ignored they way she speaks to you is very disrespectful this Asian lady in particular was Extremely Racist and Rude I then told her you can stop ma'am and she seemed glad mind you I didn't lay On the table more than 3 minutes this was the most horrible experience I ever experienced dealing with a massage parlor and I've had well over 20 massages DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY HERE I also ended up calling the other location and speaking with someone else about the incident and they told me we don't care We only want your money. staff needs to be trained better. read more

Torn on this one. I unfortunately deal with chronic pain and go for massage regularly to help manage the discomfort. During last year's shelter in place for Alameda and Contra Costa Counties, I found myself traveling to Solano County frequently and Yelp brought me to this location. Bonnie was my therapist every single time and she was fabulous! She is very strong and has great interpersonal skills. The environment is also extremely pleasant and peaceful (I think they also have a wall mounted electric fireplace in one of the rooms which is a really nice touch). However, there were quite a few turn offs at this place. First and foremost, when I called to inquire about pricing I didn't realize I was being quoted a "cash price." A $5 surcharge seems excessive especially considering mobile payments and convenient ways to bank are much more common these days (next time you pick up a dollar bill, think about how many hands have touched that bill and all the places that piece of paper has been). Secondly, they did not allow Bonnie to come out to the front to receive her tip after the massage was complete. The gentleman at the front even asked if I wanted to tip an extra $5 to which I naturally said yes to. Later I thought, how do I know Bonnie is actually getting the entire $25 tip when she is not at the front to see how much I am actually tipping! Could the owner/manager up front be pocketing a portion of HER TIP? read more

Place is calm, clean and we have not had one bad massage here. They are very accommodating with time and always very welcoming. Our first few times they were very direct/ pushy on tip, but we pushed back to to point where we are comfortable. I have been in spas were prices were double and the massages were not so good. Very upsetting! So, my brother gave me a gift certificate back in December 2019 and I recently found it in my wallet So i went in to go redeem it. Upon checking in, the gentleman that helped me Said I need to pay an additional $5 since the prices went up due to Covid. WTH?! Shouldn't you just honor the gift certificate without giving me a hassle!? Plus, it was a gift so I wasn't trying to pay an additional fee! I requested a refund for the gift certificate and he says that there's no cash value so I'm stuck here paying the extra $5. I told him I wasn't trying to pay additional for it since it was a GIFT and then he says... "Well, you still NEED to give tip" I'm sorry, Whaaaat?! Last I checked tipping is OPTIONAL. I've really had a bad upper back and haven't gotten a massage during the pandemic. This business was very good, they require a mask (I wore an N95 and a surgical mask) they take your temperature when you come in, they massage everyone in private rooms and the person doing my massage also wore an N95 mask. They had hand sanitizer everywhere and were professional and clean. The massage was great. Awesome pressure, reasonably technical, I've had better, but I've paid 2x-3x for it. I had gone at least 2-3 times before for a couples massage with my partner pre pandemic. We loved it and never had any problems. Now, I agree with all of the bad reviews related to tipping. We tip 20-25% and think it's quite fair. Yet the host expects and pushes my partner to give $10 MORE!? It's rude and wrong. Would prefer that they charge $10 more for the massage then expect and push us to tip 30% or more! So rude and sad that we may never return. read more

The massage itself is great but the experience is not exactly comfortable. I've gone here three times now and every time I get a massage on my bare skin I'm freezing! They barely cover you with a thin sheet and the air conditioning is quite strong in this place. My feet are always exposed and I end up Frozen by the end of it which makes it hard to enjoy the massage. Also I wish they would put something under the knees when you're lying on your back. I'm not sure I'll go back there because the prices aren't that great and the overall experience is lacking. They're also quite pushy about the tip they expect so in the end you might as well go to another spa because you're not really saving much money here. read more

The massages here are excellent, and my family had gone several times to the original site. Unfortunately, after today's experience, I will not be returning. For Christmas we bought our three daughters and ourselves one hour massage gift certificates. The cost of the massages were $50 each, so the total cost of our massages were $250. We were directed to go to the new facility when our appointments were made, and went in as a group today. We enjoyed the experience and were pleased with our massages, so between us we tipped $80. As that's a 32% tip for each massage therapist, I felt it was adequate. The receptionist followed us out onto the street with our $80 in her hand and told us it was insufficient! For me, the experience of being accosted on a busy street (it was Wine & Chocolate Walk day so lots of street traffic) by someone demanding more money, ruined the experience a bit. read more

My massage was very relaxing and I enjoyed it, the guys were very attentive and made sure they weren't to rough they kept asking is this ok, I appreciated that because I don't care for rough massages. The only reason they didn't receive 5 stars is because of the lady that works the front desk she forces people to tip a certain amount. First of all I'm a great tipper, so I don't need anyone forcing me to tip lady calm down. This is my first-ever review and it is well-deserved. In a word: "Wow". I have tried many massage spas in the greater East Bay, NorCal, SoCal, and in other states. I first tried Yan's when the Pandemic closed spas in Contra Costa County and I haven't regretted it. First, Yan's is always very clean and smells fresh. There are disinfectant dispensers in each room and two in the lobby. It is very well-staffed and all of the masseuses understand the difference between a deep-tissue massage and just rubbing oil over your body. They are very respectful of your private areas and keep you covered the entire time. I suffer from two bad knees and Yan always instructs my masseuse to concentrate on areas which I request. For those of you who are familiar with massage spas, there are several things which Yan's does not do. They do not leave the room to room to get hot towels, answer the phone, greet other potential customers, nor to talk to each other. They do not short you on time. There are no loud conversations between staff or the front desk. Sometimes, you can hear customers talking to each other, but that is not something which Yan can control. The 60-minute massages are good, but the 90-minute massages better. I have my favorite masseuse(s), but I won't divulge their name(s). All of them work hard and there are slight differences in their styles. I have never been pressured to give a higher tip because I always tip a good masseuse for their hard work. My only regret is that I don't have the means to get daily massages from Yan's. read more

Wonderful customer service and they make it important to keep quiet for respect of others massages. I'm very ticklish on my feet will kick anyone who tries to touch them in the slightest. Massage was fantastic, good Covid protocols in place. Great " special" price on full body massage. I would have given 5 stars, however when a gentleman checked me out, My full body special massage price for one hour was $55 though he stated $85 was my total. I kindly mentioned the price would be 55 per the woman who checked me in upon arrival. He received my payment then proceeded to point at a sign on the checkout counter which stated what they felt the appropriate tip amount should be based on the "length" your service. I definitely have no problem providing a generous tip for good service, however, I feel that should be at the discretion of the customer not the employee running the front desk. I don't feel the spa should designate how much a client should leave for a tip that should be at the discretion of the customer. read more

I am frustrated with this Spa. I called to inquire about a 1hr. massage for my sons. I was quoted $50. I specifically asked if my son paid with his debit card, the price was $50, and was told 'Yes' After checking my account online he was charged $63 for the service (this was Not including a tip, as he paid his tip in cash). $13 more for using a debit card?!! When I called to inquire about the charge, I was told Cash price was $50, More $ for using a card. I am fine with Salons charging whatever they want for their services, but to pull a switch and bait scam is unprofessional and deceptive. Don't tell people one price and then change it. I understand there is an extra fee to the merchant for credit/debt, but price your services accordingly, don't mislead your customers. Typical CC fees to merchants is at most, 5%..most around 3% As for the massage, he said it was 'okay.' We won't be back, bad business practice! If you decide to go, be sure you clarify price. Hopefully the Franchise Tax Board carefully reviews their 'cash' transactions.... read more
