The owner and instructor, Laura, is a true sweetheart. She is well educated in her field and lives what she teaches. Most of the equipment and machines are a bit dated, but certainly get the job done. The staff and gym goers were always pleasant. Worth noting that it wasn't usually overly busy, so I rarely found myself waiting for a bench or machine. Membership prices are comparable to the Y, and they offer a wide variety of classes and trainers if that's your thing.

I have been VERY happy with this gym and I recommend it to all in search of a good gym. The gym offers great hours, low membership cost, a large selection of great equipment, locker rooms with showers, steam rooms, great classes, a shake bar, fantastic personal training and a CLEAN atmosphere. Most importantly their trainers and staff are very friendly, knowledgeable and caring about their clients. The staff are always going out of there way to help me when I ask. They really have helped me to reach my fitness goals....THANK YOU to them for always being there for me!! I really love I am always able to get on the equipment I need quickly. Because they offer a wide selection of equipment I rarely ever have to wait for a machine or be stared at by someone else who is waiting to use the machine. Other gyms I have worked out in the past I found this was a big issue for me and it wasted valuable COSTLY time, but I guess you get what you pay for right. I also want to mention its close to lots of shops/ stores like Price chopper, GNC, CVS, Banks, restaurants, etc. so location, location, location is awesome! Be very careful before giving Global Fitness your business…read more My husband asked to join for a month, was told to sign the contract and that there was nothing else he needed to know. He had just been stationed in NY, and his work schedule did not leave him a lot of time to set up things like a gym membership. He went in during his limited time off, was just looking for a month-to-month membership, and was told about monthly rates. When he asked, the staff specifically said there was nothing else he needed to know, and did not make him aware of the contract provision stating his membership would last for a minimum of one year. They let him sign under false pretenses, and they don't have the decency to help him out. Once we raised our concerns (about being told there was nothing else important in the contract) to the staff, they initially told my husband they would cancel his membership. They ended up making us jump through hoops until I finally spoke with Al on the phone, and he was incredibly rude. (He is also only available for a limited time on Wednesdays, and specifically said that my husband's military work schedule was not his problem.) He could have just said it's against the policy to cancel a contract before one year is up. He could have said his staff was wrong to tell us they would cancel his membership. Instead, he denied any responsibility, didn't care that my husband had specifically asked about the length of the contract, and was incredibly rude in the process.
