Other spas took appointments either over the phone (wouldn't pick up) or through email which wasn't easy, but the Saratoga Day Spa made it convenient to book it online for someone coming from the city like myself. Once entering the building it was located on the 2nd Floor. We were confused at first because the door sign said to ring the doorbell and wait outside. I found it easier to call them because they had other clients at the time. Once I called, they came out and got us. There are 2 bathroom keys hanging outside the door: one for women and for men. The facility was clean and spacious. My partner and I were led to the couple massage room for a swedish massage which was beautifully decorated with Christmas theme and cozy. They asked us if we wanted to focus on specific body parts and gave us time to get settled in the massage beds. I wanted more attention on my upper back shoulders and neck, which they delivered. There was a heating pad on the beds and you can adjust it yourself. They are very friendly, courteous and have good bedside manners. They offer you water before and after the massage. I recommend this spa.

No pushy sales stuff of product or services. It really is about you with these folks. Tara is a doll! Her personality matches her products and experience, all top notch--making a facial experience overall pleasant, relaxing and inviting. And Tracy on the massage table, wowza, what a healer! Her technique is nothing like I have ever experienced! When you get full body, it is whole body. Nothing is in isolation! She takes into account the healing aspect of massage and makes sure she doesn't cut off the energy flow in any area. Bye-bye stuff you had stuck in places you didn't even know it was stuck. The Experience: As soon as I checked in, I was asked to choose an aromatherapy option for my bath. After changing, I waited in a calm relaxation room with tea and snacks until my name was called. The atmosphere was peaceful, setting the tone for the experience. The bath itself was deeply relaxing. One thing that surprised me was how deep the tub was--I wasn't expecting that. I remember wondering if the minerals would make the bath feel different, like maybe there would be some tingling, but it felt like a regular bath. The ambiance of the bathhouse was serene, with soothing music and dim lighting that really enhanced the relaxation. I've even shared my experience on YouTube, you can check out my full experience and get a feel for the vibes here: https://youtu.be/rZRi-EZA5zw It was interesting to learn that, back in the day, a bath here cost just $1.25, whereas now it's around $64. It's a bit expensive for a bath, so I'd say it's great for a one-time experience. However, I think the staff could do a better job of educating customers about the benefits of the mineral water--what it does and why it works--so we can actually understand the impact it has. It would be even better if they shared testimonials from long-term clients about how it's improved their lives. Pro Tips: 1. Enter the park through the Avenue of the Pines to avoid the $10 parking fee. 2. Check out the nearby creek--it's a gorgeous spot! Last time I visited, I set up a surprise picnic for our anniversary there. You can ask the staff at the front desk about it. For me, it's exciting to know the history behind Roosevelt Baths and to experience something that people in the past believed would heal their bodies and that once provided a natural luxury experience to everyday New Yorkers.

Our attendant was really nice and told us the fascinating history. The steam room was a little small. The changing room provided lockers, robes, towels and slippers. You have your own room for mineral bath with massage table and bathroom. The bath was relaxing. The massage therapist was fine but her bedside manner was rather robotic. It felt like she was phoning it in. So just a little disappointed in that area. Otherwise it was nice to visit. I'm undecided if I would go back next time in town. Update: I woke up to sore shoulders so a little sad that my shoulders went from fine to owwww... :(

Thankfully, the therapist that I had was extraordinary - Christine. Since my knots have knots currently, she certainly had her work cut out for her. The couples massage takes place in the salt cave. What a lovely, zen space! I kinda want to move in.... I left there feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. Christine warned me that I would be sore and to drink a lot of water. I was definitely sore - but a really good sore. I drank lots of water and clean iced herbal tea for the rest of the day. I feel fabulous today and I plan to book another massage within a reasonable amount of time to try and avoid getting into the physical mess that I'm in! FYI - they're still following covid protocols - which I personally think is great. Once in the salt cave, masks can be removed (but the therapists do keep them on currently). The front door stays locked, so call ahead to book appointments or to shop for anything relating to Himalayan salt products. I'll definitely be back!

This review is specifically for TMJ massage, and even more specifically for TMJ massage performed…read moreby Jodee. I've had TMJ disorder since high school and, as I've aged, the flare-ups have gotten much worse--and way more frequent. My dentists over the years haven't been incredibly helpful; the only thing they really offer is a nightguard, which I basically wear until I gnaw holes through it. Rinse, repeat. Looking for more proactive solutions, I tried Botox--it offered relief, but not lasting relief. And it was EXPENSIVE. I've always loved massage, and I'd heard rumors of the slightly scary-sounding "intraoral" TMJ massages. I was shocked that no one local offers TMJ massage (or at least, don't advertise it). After expanding my search, I finally found the Salt Cave, 55 minutes away. Figuring it couldn't hurt to try, I emailed the Salt Cave and Jodee responded right away. I would travel to the ends of the earth for the relief that Jodee has given me. I haven't had a real TMJ flare-up since I've started seeing her, and I've been seeing her for about four months now. The miracles she has worked on my jaw are seriously ... well, miraculous. I'm no longer constantly massaging a swollen, painful cheek, or feeling that pop when I open my mouth too wide. Even after the first visit I noticed a seriously impressive difference. I'm more cognizant of my posture, my stress levels, and my face in general. Not only is Jodee amazing at TMJ massages, and not only is the pricing very reasonable for the amount of relief she provides. Jodee just also happens to be a darn sweetheart. These may not be the supremely relaxing spa massages we're used to falling asleep in, you may have to participate, and you even get homework, but I leave Jodee each time feeling energized, invigorated, and physically stronger than when I walked in. Jodee makes fun chitchat, checks in with you on comfort levels, and above all listens to you and your body. An example: one visit, I had recently suffered the worst migraine of my life, brought about by changing medications, high humidity, and PMS. I let Jodee know that I would likely have more jaw tension because of this ... and she went to town on my neck, working the specific muscles that were still screaming, while still not neglecting my jaw. She even educated me on the areas I can massage myself, and loaned me a neck-training device to see if it would help. She gets no money from that; I wouldn't be buying such a device from her. She's just that caring and kind, and genuinely wants to help people feel the best that they can. Jodee's a healer. And I didn't know that TMJ was something that could be healed or even improved, until I met her. Grateful for her every single day, and can't wait to see her again.
