Ordered: Matcha Fruit Latte Mango Einspanner Mille Crepe Cake Hojicha Amande Tart Matcha Latte Mango: I'm not sure whether they made it how it would normally be made but when I received mine, it was all matcha. You couldn't taste the mango. It was supposed to be level 3 sweetness. We ended up asking for a sweetener and got some simple syrup. Once I added it, the drink was more balanced and it brought out the taste of the mango. It was a pleasant drink then. I suggest asking them about the sweetness level and whether adding a sweetener is needed. Einspanner: not sure how to review this other than "it's matcha matcha" great drink. Mille Crepe Cake: we fought for the last slice. If they sell this whole, they should probably advertise it. I'm sure a lot of people would purchase the whole cake. I know for sure at least one person would. Tart: perfectly baked. The filling is earthy. Sweetness level is just right for a baked good. read more

This place doesn't mess around with its matcha. Judging by the rich, vibrant green color, I knew it would be pretty intense, almost too intense for me. This place doesn't even add much sweetness to any of its offerings, so you really get to taste the quality of its matcha. I tried its premium soft serve which comes with rice balls, red bean, and chocolate square. I knew matcha flavor by itself would be too intense so I got it with vanilla swirl, but even that didn't help that much. This is probably the least sweet soft serve I ever had. The drinks were quite good. My wife and I tried two of its special drinks - Koicha Einspanner and Yuzu Matcha Tonic. These drinks had better balance of sweetness. Located inside the Cypress Mitsuwa as part of their food court, Yamari is extremely well known for their high quality matcha drinks and ice cream. So why was I, a guy who doesn't particularly care for anything matcha-flavored, patronizing this place? They also have vanilla soft serve! The woman at the counter was quite nice and explained the ingredients to several of the ice cream options on the menu. My selection was quickly prepared. The vanilla soft serve is also high quality. It's the best vanilla soft serve I've ever had, very creamy and with a luscious flavor. Added onto the cup of ice cream were two balls of flavorless mochi, soft & chewy but didn't really add anything to the ice cream experience, and a yummy square of chocolate. Also added was a blob of red bean. I don't mind red bean in Japanese desserts if it is sweetened, even a little, but this didn't seem to be sweetened at all, so it wasn't a pleasant taste in juxtaposition with the delicious ice cream. Fortunately there was only a tiny bit of red bean so it was easily avoided. Kyoto-based Yamari has been making matcha drinks since 1860, so they certainly know their matcha, but they do a great vanilla soft serve ice cream too. read more

I don't know how to feel about this place, the Matcha was poured out of a premade container, likely a Matcha concentrate, which didn't look all that appealing, because I thought matcha was supposed to be fresh? Wow I can't believe this place isn't as popular as it should be! Deserves to go VIRAL cuz how does no one know that there's an AUTHENTIC matcha dessert shop from Kyoto (the birthplace & mecca of Matcha in Japan)! THE BEST MATCHA soft serve I've ever tasted: rich earthy deep bitter matcha flavor. Located inside Mitsuwa Marketplace and left at the entrance where the dessert section is at. The worker that took my order was super helpful in deciding what to get, but since it was my first time trying their matcha, she suggested I'd get a vanilla swirl matcha soft serve just in case the matcha was too strong. I had been to the Torrance location before, and honestly I wasn't too impressed by the einspanner and latte, which I found to be a little light on the matcha and heavy on the milk. With this new location opening up a while ago, I was convinced to give it another chance. GETTING HERE AND PARKING: We came on a weekday afternoon so very easy WHAT I ORDERED: Koicha einspanner THE DRINK: Honestly, this was such a different experience from the first einspanner I had in Torrance. The ratio was on point, and it really didn't feel like the drink ended up getting watered down by the cream which was what it felt like last time. The cream itself was perfectly sweetened, so it ended up being the perfect sweetness altogether when mixed. The matcha itself was great, and they let you substitute the milk part itself for oat milk. SERVICE: Very good! Water cups upon request VIBES: Smaller food court compared to the Torrance Mitsuwa, but on a weekday afternoon it was practically empty. Our favorite matcha shop is even closer to those in the SGV! Previously, the only Yamari in the U.S. was inside the food court of the Mitsuwa Marketplace in Torrance. This Yamari is located in the newly opened Mitsuwa in Cypress and is very similar to the other one, though the food court is a bit smaller due to the limited footprint of the space. The stall shares space with a J. Sweets (an artisan Japanese confectionary shop), similar to the Torrance location, so you can pick up some chocolates and cookies while you're there. Or, if you're feeling hungry, you can get some ramen and/or onigiri from the other vendors... but that's a review for another time. Their menu is quite expansive, ranging from lattes to hojicha to floats to even a banana bread, but we like to keep things simple and order the regular matcha latte and the regular matcha soft serve (which comes with a nice chocolate square). We also like to purchase their "Uji Mukashi" matcha powder and make our own lattes at home, because who can afford to buy $8 matcha drinks every other day, know what I mean? Anyway, Yamari's matcha products come from Uji, Kyoto (you know, the birthplace of matcha) so you know it's gonna be good. We prefer matcha with lots of umami and just barely sweet, so this has become our favorite in SoCal! read more

The Yamari stall is in a newly opened Mitsuwa with beautiful, spacious, and clean seating in the center of the market. I've tried Yamari in Torrance and would say the matcha here is equally potent and well made. We tried their koicha einspanner on the special menu. The latte and syrup were both strongly matcha flavored with minimally sweetened; the einspanner cream was lightly sweetened. It wasn't busy at all and our drinks were made fairly quickly. I think next time I would get their regular matcha latte, because the einspanner cream makes the latte a bit too creamy for me. Expensive for the size but very concentrated. Yes, it's a rich and bitter maybe a scale of 5 out of 8. It's just slightly more bitter than I like it, so because that and the consistent portion size. happy that yamari is in oc! i've visited the torrance location once and loveee the soft serve. i got the mango matcha and matcha au lait. i originally chose the matcha latte based on the sweetness/umami/bitterness profile but the cashier told me the menu is the japanese menu so they don't follow it. basically the matcha latte is unsweetened and au lait is sweetened. they also recommend the matcha fruit mango latte but honestly it was just okay, the matcha taste isn't as strong and not as sweet as i thought. but the au lait is so good!!! the matcha bitterness is strong tho a little bit grainy. i also wanted to order a soft serve but they said their soft serve machine is broken (went on a saturday) and it would take about one hour to fix. will come back next time for the soft serve!! read more

I was excited to try this shop as Yamari Torrance is a renowned matcha shop that happens to have the most deep matcha taste for soft serve. Comparing it to Torrance, this shop has some ways to go. It's good but not great. It doesn't blow me away like the soft serve in Torrance did. I'm sure they'll get better, but Higa-san, your team here has some ways to go! The J-Sweets staff are friendly and helpful. They have aimilar array of goods there as other k-sweets stores in other Mitsuwa locations. I'm glad however that Yamari opens a second store here.
