I have taken yoga flow with Kimmie (one of the owners) and I hate yoga. Her class was the first yoga class I have ever enjoyed! Jackie (also one of the owners) really makes me feel empowered as a woman! She constantly reminds us that we are beautiful; we are strong I have taken her Zumba toning class and tried out barre with her and wow! I had never thought that taking a class would make me more sore than lifting weights!! Angelica teaches Strong Zumba and she was actually my very first Zumba instructor years ago so I was so happy to see her! I have never had a workout with her that I was not sweating profusely. Heather teaches Zumba toning and turbo kick and I love her. I actually came to the studio because of her. I have lost 30 lbs since last August and I give her lots of credit for it. I hated working out but took her class at Knollwood country club and was hooked. No longer was I dragging my feet to do a workout! I actually look forward every day for my next class! Who knew that working out is so fun??? I really suggest trying a class or two here. Heck get that unlimited monthly deal because once you start going you are going to fall in love with all the ladies there! No one there to judge so do not worry if you have no "experience". Most importantly these workouts are so fun and even though it kicks your butt every class!

I've had the joy of watching it grow from the very beginning, and it's incredible to see the community it has built. The studio is so warm and welcoming. I've watched children's confidence bloom here, friendships form that will last a lifetime, and dancers continue to advance in their skills. Many of the kids think of it as their "dance family," and I can see why. The dancers themselves are turning out to be such wonderful little role models--kind, encouraging, and always making others feel welcome. Miss Christy pours her heart into this studio. She not only teaches and choreographs most of the classes but also puts so much thought and care into every detail--making sure things are done right and done well. She is wonderful with the kids--patient, encouraging, and clearly passionate about what she does. And while Christy is the heart of the studio, she has a couple of other wonderful teachers alongside her, who also bring their own energy, talent, and care to the classes. The tumbling program has been especially exciting to watch grow. Christy and Miss Jordan work together with the tumblers, helping them push toward new skills and celebrating with them when they succeed. It's a joy to see their faces light up when they finally master something new. I also want to take a moment to thank Heather for all of her help. There is so much work that goes into running a studio beyond what people see on the surface, and Heather's help has truly been a blessing. Another thing that makes Sparkle and Shine Dance stand out is Christy's dedication to keeping dance affordable. She works hard to make sure prices are significantly lower than other studios in the area because it matters to her that every child who wants to dance has the chance to. Whether kids are interested in recreational classes for fun or want the challenge of joining the competition team, Sparkle and Shine Dance offers a supportive, uplifting environment for them to thrive. As both a grandmother and a mother, I feel an enormous sense of pride in everything Christy and her team have accomplished. Sparkle and Shine Dance is truly something special.

Our family had been clients of Epic Dance for three years. Unfortunately, our experience ended with…read moreour family being reported to Child Protective Services over a situation that was quickly determined to be nothing more than a dog bite. A few days before class, our daughter had been bitten on her side by a neighbor's dog. It was an incident we had already addressed within our family. During class, the instructor asked our daughter about the mark and she explained exactly what had happened. Despite this explanation--and despite the fact that most weeks we were physically present in the facility during the two hours our daughter was there for class--Epic chose to report our family to the Indiana Department of Child Services without contacting either parent first. As a result, a DCS caseworker came to our home and opened an investigation. During that visit, the caseworker examined the mark and took a photograph of it, explaining that it was clearly consistent with a dog bite and that documenting that fact was important for the record. The investigation was closed almost immediately. The DCS worker also told us directly that the situation should never have made it past the hotline. To be clear about what occurred: * Epic reported our family to Child Protective Services without contacting us * Parents were regularly present in the building during class times but were never approached about the mark * A DCS investigation was opened and a caseworker came to our home * The caseworker documented the mark and indicated it was clearly consistent with a dog bite * The case was closed quickly * The DCS worker stated the report should never have advanced through the system After we raised concerns about what happened, we received a formal letter from Epic's attorneys stating that the studio believes it acted appropriately under Indiana's mandatory reporting laws and warning us to ensure that anything we say publicly is truthful. So this review is simply that: the truth of what our family experienced. Mandatory reporting laws exist for an important reason. However, situations like this show how serious and disruptive a report can be when concerns are escalated without even a conversation with the parents. A simple question to us--who were frequently sitting in the building during class--could have clarified the situation immediately. Instead, our family experienced a government investigation that the responding caseworker said should never have moved forward in the first place. Because of this experience, we have withdrawn our daughter from Epic Dance.
