From the moment I walked in I felt welcomed; I was greeted by the instructor and follow dancers. No partner; no problem. The way they teach the class, you do not need a partner. You actually learn the dance is phases and you go down the line and practice with a different partner each time. Being new at this and knowing I have coordination issues, I never felt I was being singled out for messing up. If I had a question or asked to see it again, it was not a bother. All the participants are very understanding and accepting. The practice dance portion of the class allows you to practice what you learned or dance a different style. Again no partner; no problem. Those that attend the class are so friendly and willing to teach others, that you will be on the dance floor more than you thought!! I highly recommend taking lessons here. I went back for several Ballroom Mondays and even tried the Westie Thursdays.

They truly care about you and help you progress as a dancer and as a person too. The other students are fantastic people as well. They are extremely welcoming and happy to have someone new begin. Personally, dancing with Fred Astaire Fort Wayne has been very therapeutic for me and ironically, I didn't realize I needed something therapeutic in my life. I have been very blessed to stumble upon this new hobby that will be with me the rest of my life. My only regret is that I didn't start sooner!

Lots of options for group classes, including fitness and adult ballet. The two annual showcases are a ton of fun and Starlite Ball is held at the Century Center--feels like dancing on a huge stage. For competitors, not only are the regular teachers fantastic, the visiting coaches, including Ray Rivers and Elena Grineko, are way above the quality one might expect in the suburban Midwest. The parties are great, with plenty of good music, and there's even a "newcomer" party for students not quite ready to jump into dancing with strangers.
