I have taken yoga flow with Kimmie (one of the owners) and I hate yoga. Her class was the first yoga class I have ever enjoyed! Jackie (also one of the owners) really makes me feel empowered as a woman! She constantly reminds us that we are beautiful; we are strong I have taken her Zumba toning class and tried out barre with her and wow! I had never thought that taking a class would make me more sore than lifting weights!! Angelica teaches Strong Zumba and she was actually my very first Zumba instructor years ago so I was so happy to see her! I have never had a workout with her that I was not sweating profusely. Heather teaches Zumba toning and turbo kick and I love her. I actually came to the studio because of her. I have lost 30 lbs since last August and I give her lots of credit for it. I hated working out but took her class at Knollwood country club and was hooked. No longer was I dragging my feet to do a workout! I actually look forward every day for my next class! Who knew that working out is so fun??? I really suggest trying a class or two here. Heck get that unlimited monthly deal because once you start going you are going to fall in love with all the ladies there! No one there to judge so do not worry if you have no "experience". Most importantly these workouts are so fun and even though it kicks your butt every class!

I have been regularly taking classes at Bravo Arts Academy since it opened in May 2016. I really…read moreenjoy all of different classes offered and a big part of that is the main instructor, Alison Peterson-Loll. She has taken her extensive dance background and applied it to a variety of workout and dance classes for adults and kids. She is excellent at helping a new student feel comfortable starting a workout routine and a master at challenging her established students to keep pushing themselves. She is also awesome at adapting a movement or position to limitations we might have with an injury or chronic problem. I have been doing Cardio Barre class (low impact stretching and strengthening cardio class using ballet-inspired movements and poses) with the owner once or twice a week for over 3 years (beginning at a prior location) and continue to find this an effective workout both for beginners with no dance background and, with layered in technique boosters, more advanced participants. I take her Plank It class twice a week as well. This 30 minute workout of 2-3 minute routines of Plank poses and transitions to upbeat music is an efficient way to target strengthening the core abdominal muscles along with sculpting the legs, arms and back. The most recent addition for her teen and adult classes are the aerial silk yoga and fitness classes. Follow Bravo Arts Academy on Instagram or check out the Facebook page/website for photos and videos of these unique classes. In silk hammocks suspended from the ceiling (silk holds over 500 lbs and rigging is rated to hold over 2000 lbs), we do stretches, poses, core challenges, flips, and more. The yoga class is low to no impact and requires no yoga experience. Anyone, no matter their age, athletic level or body type can participate successfully. It is a combination of meditation, hybrid yoga/dance moves and poses assisted by the silk and some inversions. As a motion sickness suffering, I tolerate this class with only a few adaptations and this has actually improved the more I do silk classes. The aerial silk fitness class is for people who want a little more challenge/physical workout invoking more strength moves and involved poses and inversions. However we all start out as beginners and this is again something that is pretty easy to pick up and then build upon the skills you learn in each class. Once you master a trick that you've seen on the website or saw another student do the class before, you are hooked, wanting to see what you can do next. One of the main themes of the classes I take is that they are a lot of fun and unique so you often walk away realizing what a great workout you got doing something that didn't feel like boring exercise. So, as you can tell, I am a big fan of Bravo Arts Academy and I didn't even talk about the excellent instruction done for the children's ballet, jazz and tap dance classes.

I've had the joy of watching it grow from the very beginning, and it's incredible to see the community it has built. The studio is so warm and welcoming. I've watched children's confidence bloom here, friendships form that will last a lifetime, and dancers continue to advance in their skills. Many of the kids think of it as their "dance family," and I can see why. The dancers themselves are turning out to be such wonderful little role models--kind, encouraging, and always making others feel welcome. Miss Christy pours her heart into this studio. She not only teaches and choreographs most of the classes but also puts so much thought and care into every detail--making sure things are done right and done well. She is wonderful with the kids--patient, encouraging, and clearly passionate about what she does. And while Christy is the heart of the studio, she has a couple of other wonderful teachers alongside her, who also bring their own energy, talent, and care to the classes. The tumbling program has been especially exciting to watch grow. Christy and Miss Jordan work together with the tumblers, helping them push toward new skills and celebrating with them when they succeed. It's a joy to see their faces light up when they finally master something new. I also want to take a moment to thank Heather for all of her help. There is so much work that goes into running a studio beyond what people see on the surface, and Heather's help has truly been a blessing. Another thing that makes Sparkle and Shine Dance stand out is Christy's dedication to keeping dance affordable. She works hard to make sure prices are significantly lower than other studios in the area because it matters to her that every child who wants to dance has the chance to. Whether kids are interested in recreational classes for fun or want the challenge of joining the competition team, Sparkle and Shine Dance offers a supportive, uplifting environment for them to thrive. As both a grandmother and a mother, I feel an enormous sense of pride in everything Christy and her team have accomplished. Sparkle and Shine Dance is truly something special.

I LOVED how she started the class, made everyone forget about their outside worries and stresses, and make us look forward to what was ahead. The class was great (which is why I hesitate giving only 3 stars). From there I signed up for the Level 1 class knowing I would only go twice more. It was explained that we were to learn something new each time and build upon what we previously learned. The first class was great, and I learned a lot of ways to go down the pole. However, you had to sign up in advance for the class and there were 2 extra people, meaning 2 poles had 2 people on them. For a 1 hour class I didn't love the fact that I had to share a pole, kind of took away from the class in my opinion. Why sign up in advance if they're not going to cut the class at 10 for the 10 poles? (9 if you count the instructor's pole). The 3rd class I went to didn't really add anything more on the pole, but she opted to teach us wall dances. Again, this was a pole dancing class, so I wasn't soo excited about the wall. And the instructor was coming off of being sick and really made that known to us, quite a few times, and it was sort of distracting to the class. This one felt very forced and not as fun as the first two.

Luckily for us and hopefully those looking to see if this is worth it. We decided to try something new and just do it! It is totally worth it! The fun we had doing this was overflowing! We laughed, cheered each other on, and overcame. It took a few flops to get it right. But that's common when you are learning something new! I was very lucky to learn four different apparatuses in Aerial Yoga and some pole dancing moves! Coming to Flyfit is definitely a good choice! You just feel so empowered at the end of every class. It makes you want to come back and learn more. Which is exactly what happened to me. I can't wait to show off my new moves.
