Let's start with the door. When I say this door was heavy, I don't mean sturdy. I mean this door has a gym membership. This door does deadlifts. If you use mobility equipment, congratulations -- you've unlocked Bonus Level: Upper Body Strength. I stood there thinking, "Ohhh. Accessibility is more of a suggestion." Thankfully I had help. Otherwise I'd still be in the hallway explaining to guests that I technically live here now. "Yes, I have hallway timeshare rights." Then we get to the bathroom. There's a shower bench. Now I love a shower bench. I respect a shower bench. But this one? This one was not securely bolted. It was emotionally bolted. Spiritually bolted. We let the front desk know. They thanked us for being proactive. Which is nice. Very polite. No one fixed it. So now I'm showering like I'm on a reality show called Trust Fall: Bathroom Edition. Meanwhile -- housekeeping. Three days. Not once. I don't need luxury. I don't need chocolates on the pillow. But after day three you start wondering if you've been softly erased from the census. Let's talk about the key cards. We replaced them four times. Four. At that point I'm not a guest. I'm in a loyalty program with the key card printer. And here's the kicker: you have to insert a key card into a slot to keep the electricity on. So the key cards don't work... but they are also the only thing preventing you from living in darkness. It's like the hotel said, "What if electricity... but make it a scavenger hunt?" Every time we go to the front desk? No one's there. Just an empty counter and vibes. We're standing there like, "Do we knock? Do we ring a bell? Do we Venmo the building?" Room service. Menu says 5:00-9:30 PM. We call at 9:00. Kitchen's closed. "Oh yeah," they say. "The hours changed. We haven't updated the menu." Oh. So the menu is archival material. It's a historical document. The next night we order. They don't follow the instructions. They remake it. At this point I've spent more time coordinating dinner than I did at the actual conference I traveled for. Late checkout? That's a negotiation. They say housekeeping decides. Housekeeping. The mythical beings we have not seen in three days. We ask again. They say priority goes to IHG members. "I am an IHG member." "It's not showing up." Eventually: "Oh. There it is. 2 PM." So late checkout requires documentary proof. I should've brought exhibits. Checkout day? No "How was everything?" No "Thanks for staying with us." Just a silent transfer of air between humans. But everywhere--QR codes. "Leave us a review!" And honestly? I respect that confidence. That's the kind of self-belief I aspire to. Look, it wasn't catastrophic. It wasn't a disaster. It was just consistently, creatively underwhelming. Accessibility that requires assistance. Service that occasionally phases out of existence. Key cards with commitment issues. A shower bench living its truth. Would I stay again? If options are limited? Maybe. But I'm bringing: * Upper body strength * Backup dinner plans * A portable electrician * And possibly a wrench Yakima, you were an experience.

Not sure why this place gets no love, but I'll go ahead and talk about how the glass is half full…read morewith respect to State Fair Park! State fair Park has been around for a long time, and as the name would suggest it houses the central Washington State fair each year! Each year, during these last couple weeks of September the fair decisions on State fair Park, did we have plenty of opportunities to see what has been fried, who threw the biggest pumpkin, and animals and everything in between. It's no b always quite lovely! As for the remainder of the year, this place has a number of large buildings for various gatherings, plays Home to the Sundome - Home of the Sunkings, as well as of plenty other community events. Numerous charities such as toys for tots hold their pick up and drop off events here, and the facilities also are the grounds for the Yakima pippins, a college level all star summer league baseball team. Finally, there are grandstands and a large dirt field outback where events such as Dozer days! When all is said and done, the place is an eclectic I mix of different venues that can accommodate plenty of different types of events. It's been there for quite some time, and over the past few years they seem to have done a nice job of exploring how they can utilize the space more completely. Keep up the good work!

I just love when its time for the fair. Those 10 days is awesome! A bit expensive but well worth it.read more

This a beautiful building and has lots of space and potential. That's about it…read more On the day of my son's wedding we had to spend 45 minuets cleaning the reception hall as it had cake, glass and candy all over the floor. The court yard had cake, napkins and solo cups all over. The room that was used for the ceremony had salsa or ketchup all over the beautiful fire place and cake on several chairs. They sent a person to come clean the court yard but all he did was blow everything under the bushes. Needless to say the wedding was a late start. Heard today that they are claiming that we left the kitchen dirty, the caters cleaned it and I double checked it as that was part of our agreement. They claimed the reception hall floor had sticky stuff on it. Yes it did it was from the event the night before that we had to clean up. They are refusing to give my son his full deposit back unless he comes mops the floor. Never mind the cleaning that we as a family had to do that had nothing to do with us. Again this could be an amazing venue a beautiful old charming building but the maintenance and management needs lots of improvement!!!! We documented all we did to clean up with pics and was on the phone with the lady who was apologetic and stated she would make it up to them. Today when my son reminded her of this, he was me with "we have video of it being clean" all this even after all the calls back and forth on the day of the wedding. The video she sent to my son has no date or time stamp but we know what we walked into. Tonight tithe lady managing told my son that the people who had the place before them left the deposit so that they would do the cleaning. Well someone missed it.
