II want to start by saying I was happy and excited to support a newer and local business to provide…read moreLinen, tables and chairs for a 200+ guest wedding. Within the contract it states if renting on a Saturday delivery of items can be arranged to happen on that Friday. Also states any damage that happens the renter will be responsible for replacing/or repairing what is damaged. On the 12th of September I had contacted Allen to confirm the Friday afternoon drop off between 12-2, he confirmed it would be between those times depending on the route they take for deliveries that day. on Friday we had our bridal party arrive around 1 to help with set up then be available for rehearsal that was at 5 and dinner at 6. I did not hear from Allen or his wife until 3:45 that afternoon after I had to put my detective skills at work and have a mutual friend ask them to contact me after they had ignored our phone calls, texts and email for several hours. When the wife finally called me back she stated that the previous renters had destroyed the items we had rented for our wedding. She stated she was scrambling to find tables and linen but chairs had been found. our table size we ordered were 8ft tables and she was only able to find 6 ft tables, which changes the amount of tables and the amount of people at each table and the space it takes up. We had already cut our tables runners for the 9ft tables and have the table decor arranged for the amount of tables we ordered. She then asked if dollar store plastic linen would be acceptable for the tables instead of the cloth I had ordered. While those are perfectly acceptable for a lot of events...they are not for my wedding. When tables are chairs were found they came late into the evening and my husband and our wedding party missed the entire dinner that friends and family traveled in to town for. The next week I made contacted with Allen to discuss reimbursement. We for one did not use any of their items, had to rent linen from somewhere else and pay for the cleaning and the mental exhaustion of the night before my wedding having to rearrange the entire set up because of the different table sizes. While both and Allen and his wife where apologetic, Allen was insistent that our reimbursement was a low offer because we had not ordered items to use on Friday therefor the fact that we didn't get them until late that evening should not have been a problem. He could not understand that these items where not being used for our rehearsal but our rehearsal was cancelled because of his contractual promise to bring items on a certain day at a certain time. He also mentioned that it would not be fair to ask for a full refund because they had to pay a different company to rent the items we use. When in reality if you're running a good business your insurance should cover a large cost of damages from previous renters AND your renters sign a contract stating they replace what is damaged. So they would only be losing money in the beginning but recuperate it at the end once insurance pays, and once they hold the previous renters liable, plus what we paid them. In the end they would almost make money. I am very disappointed they did not inform us earlier in the week of the problems they ran in to, we could have worked together to solve the issue instead of further damage our wedding experience. Poor communication leading up to the wedding makes me think they knew for a while that our items where compromised. I feel like they are dishonest and take advantage of people knowing that they will take what they can get hours away from a huge event.
