When I arrived at Yahweh Yoga I had absolutely no prior experience of any form of yoga, except knowledge from superstars or self-help authors who claim to do this form of exercise, and it changed their lives. Furthermore, my therapist recommended Bikram Yoga for the stress I was currently partaking in as a newlywed; however, someone else gratefully told me that if I had never practiced yoga in my life, it would be best to start "small." (She specifically said if you decide to become a runner, you wouldn't start with a marathon (Bikram Yoga), but a 5K (Yahweh Yoga). This person recommended Yahweh Yoga. I am so glad I listened! My first class was on a Saturday morning with DeAnna Smothers and the best words out of her mouth for a yoga virgin was, "Remember there is no competition in yoga. Be kind to your body and let it direct you to either do a little or a lot." I needed to hear that because I am normally a very competitive person and I wanted this new practice to last a lifetime. The other life-changing words out of her mouth were, "And breathe. Remember, when you stop breathing you stop practicing yoga." I have a tendency to hold my breath and that's been a problem all my life, but the practice of yoga taught me how to breathe deeply in order to remove the toxins and stress I was holding in. For the first year I practiced yoga on Wednesdays and Saturdays. I started in February 2012 and finally mastered breathing in about June 2012. I knew I had got the breathing right because tears were seeping from my eyes and the poses got much easier. I added Mondays into my schedule. Have you ever heard of the 5 Love Languages by Gary Chapman? I get three out of the five for myself by going to Yahweh Yoga: (1) Words of Affirmation (my #1) spoken by the instructor (DeAnna, Lindsay, or Stephanie); (2) Quality Time (with myself and God); (3) Physical Touch (my favorites are giving myself a face massage and scratching my head). Another amazing thing about this studio is that the practice is mostly done in a dim room with a wide variety of women who are all shapes and sizes and colors. We are all in there for the same thing: Taking care of our temples. Have you been hurt by religion but really miss going to church for the music and time with God? I highly recommend trying out Yahweh Yoga! I can't tell you how many times a song hit so close to home and was exactly what I needed to hear, or a devotional that spoke to my heart and helped me reach my fullest potential. Finally, it was stated that the practice of yoga would automatically change my diet where I would crave healthier foods. I felt they went too far with saying that because I have given up A LOT in my life (prescription drugs, alcohol, smoking, etc.) and I love food and I wasn't interested in anything messing with that guilty pleasure. I've been practicing yoga for a year and I've also purchased DVD's from the studio so that I can enjoy DeAnna Smothers and Courtney Chalfant in the comforts of my own home. Without even wanting to my diet is changing... My life has become full with blessings that I don't always have the time to get that power nap in and I know my diet is what makes me sleepy. So, I've gone gluten-free and am changing to eating for my blood type. My O+ diet mainly consists of protein. I still enjoy naps, but I don't require them anymore! Finally, I can honestly say that the practice of yoga was the missing link to my mental health which has changed me in all other areas. Please give it a try and don't leave before the miracle happens! I promise you it will and the key is moderation. I need to close so that I can "Stretch, Relax and Restore" via DVD, and Courtney, I am feeling like a queen today. read more

I have been attending Yahweh Yoga for over a year now, and am now one of their regulars. I have taken the yoga as well as the zumba classes and they are both great quality workouts. I concur with Amy S. review, she described the experience beautifully from start to finish. I have not taken any of the hot yoga classes, but I understand they are great and there is always a good size group of people waiting in the waiting area before the hot yoga classes. I usually attend the relax, restore yoga class and the gentle journey with Stephanie or Lindsay. I have taken classes with Courtney & DeAnna (both owners) and they are fantastic. Courtney & DeAnna always welcome feedback and seek it from you at times, and are always looking for ways to improve and encourage. They aren't just teachers here, they become your friends. With regard to the Zumba classes, the instructors are very good. They now have 5 or 6 days of zumba classes and have great instructors - Leia, Olivia and Christine are all well rounded and each of their classes is different and they are always changing it up so you don't get too comfortable with the same routines. Zumba instructors are very personable and truly care about the individuals they serve. I love at the end of each class all three instructors mention how great it is to serve us and thank us for coming - I just love that! And they really mean it. I use a calorie counter in these classes, and I usually burn around 500+ calories, but that always changes, depending on how much I exert myself. They even incorporate weights within one or two of the routines, which I really like. The zumba instructors, like the yoga instructors are always looking for feedback on the class, what could make it better and any suggestions you may have...zumba is supposed to feel like a party and not like you are working out, and these instructors achieve that...I am having so much fun, I don't even realize I just worked out. That's how you know you've got quality instructors. I will be a long time student at this place. The only thing I would like to see here is for them to offer a higher level zumba class and a zumba toning class....once they get to this point...I will be extremely happy. I also believe the monthly rate they charge is very reasonable compared to gym rates. read more

I am currently going through the 250 hr teacher training program to get certified and registered as a yoga instructor and Christian yoga teacher through Yahweh Yoga and Yoga Alliance (Yahweh Yoga is accredited by them and enables the trainees to register with them). I can honestly say this has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. I have completed the 70 hrs online portion and in 4 days I am flying off to complete the 180 hrs hands on training. The instructors (owners DeAnna and Courtney) have been amazingly helpful, communicative, and incredibly encouraging in the most Christ-like way during my training process. The classes online are flexible and definitely doable no matter where you are in life. I've really enjoyed the topics I've studied so far, they have helped me grow as a christian yogini, teacher in training, and as a person. Yahweh Yoga equips anyone interested in becoming a certified and a registered instructor through their teacher training program with the legitimate skills needed to become qualified to teach classes whether that be teaching at a church, teaching at someone else's studio, or owning your own studio! The most important thing I am truly grateful for is the opportunity to learn about and practice Christ-centered yoga in a way that worships God honorably that Yahweh Yoga provides readily to those who are called, interested, or who have no knowledge about it at all. The beauty of spreading the good news of Jesus Christ through yoga is what makes Yahweh Yoga unique and beautiful. Four years ago I began my yoga journey by practicing at home. After about a month I knew I needed to find a local studio so I could learn and grow. By chance I happened to see an online coupon that offered 20 classes for $20. Sure, why not! And it was a Christian yoga studio, which appealed to me. I dove right in and signed up for the hot yoga class. I was glad to see it was a small, intimate studio where the teachers focused on each student. I just about threw up in my first class, which I often do when I over exert myself, but I knew I'd be back. And I went back three to four times a week for three years before I moved out of state. I grew in so many more ways than just the yoga poses, which was cool too. I never imagined I could balance my body on my hands, or hold headstands and handstands. I learned that I could do things I never knew I could do, and that applied to my personal life as well. The teachers at the studio are some of the nicest, caring and compassionate people I have ever met. The other students became my friends that I still chat with even though I'm now in Florida. The studio became my second home and the people my second family. I've been to a number of studios here in Florida and none of them come close to Yahweh Yoga. I miss them everyday! read more

I began with this studio after seeing a groupon and wanting to get back into practicing yoga. I was skeptical at first to be honest because I don't really identify with a religion, but after my first class, I was hooked. I have been practicing for almost five years with numerous instructors and I can confidently say that the instructors here are amazing and the best that I have had! I have tried all of the classes and incorporate them into my daily fitness routine. They do a great job challenging me as well as making the class fun. What is really important to me is that each of them takes the time to get to know the students and remembers who you are when you are there. Other studios are so large and have so many different instructors that they never really meet their students or know their ability or goals. Their main goal is for you to feel good about yourself no matter where you are at in your practice. Once my groupon was done, I didn't hesitate to sign up for an unlimited membership. No matter your religion, or physical ability, I would highly recommend trying out Yahweh Yoga because it has changed my life and I know that it can change yours too. read more

I just finished Yahweh Yoga teacher training and it has been an amazing experience. I came with the attitude of not being sure if I was cut out to be a yoga teacher. I thought I would attend anyway, even if I never teach, just because yoga is my passion. I wanted to learn more about the postures for my own benefit. Day by day my confidence increased, not only in my ability to teach Yoga, but also a deeper, inner confidence to love myself for who I am today, not who I wish I was, or who I hope to be tomorrow. I made friendships with the other women who attended that will most likely last past teacher training. They also taught me a way to eat that has caused me to lose a little weight and feel full of energy. I LOVE YAHWEH YOGA!!! I again encourage anyone who is considering this school to do it. A previous post by someone else said this place does not exist - IT DOES! I bought the $18 for 20 classes on Groupon, scheduled my class for the following morning and BOOM I was doing yoga by 8:45am. It's there, it's open, just get there ON TIME - don't be late or you will be locked out. Schedule your class ONLINE before hand and also, check the schedule online so you know when someone is actually in the building :) I had a wonderful time at Heated Slow Flow with Stephanie. I have tried almost all of the classes offered at Yahweh Yoga. They offer a wide variety of classes from Stretch, Relax, Restore, to Flow, Sizzle and Power Yoga. Courtney and Deanna are so good at providing multiple options for poses so you can push yourself to your personal edge. They are tremendously loving and encouraging, and always remind their students that there is no competition in yoga. I am now doing my teacher training and I love their teaching methods and care for the safety of their students. I feel confident that I am receiving the highest quality training. This is the perfect place to de-stress and deepen your intimacy with Christ through meditation, prayer and worship. read more

What the heck. I'm sad and disappointed. What is going on with the yoga studios in this area this is the third yoga studio that closed with paying clients with classes to redeem. No warning just close the doors. And it makes me sad and it makes my heart hurt to think these heart felt Christ/Buddhist centers can do that to their students. If they know they're going to Close have the common courtesy to stop taking their money and give him the notice that they're going to be closing. it's very discouraging this is the third one within a 5 mile radius it's pretty much closed their doors immediately and never reimbursed. While visiting the Phoenix area in 2008, I attended a "Gentle Journey" class at Yahweh Yoga absolutely LOVED it. The ambiance was peaceful, the worship music was beautiful, and the teacher was fantastic. I purchased the Gentle Journey DVD so that I could continue my experience with Yahweh Yoga in my own yoga practice. When I decided to further my yoga education and pursue yoga teacher training certification, Yahweh Yoga was my first choice. Their 250-hour teacher training program begins online and includes a 15-day onsite retreat. I have learned so much about yoga from their program. I highly recommend this studio! read more

I love Yahweh Yoga, and I will not go to any other studio! There are so many things that bring me to the studio. First and most important is that it is Christian yoga not only does you body get the benefits, but your soul does too. Yahweh Yoga is amazing! The teachers are great; they know their stuff and the variety of classes makes choosing which one to go to difficult. I learned so much here (since I hadn't been practicing yoga long.) The first class I took was a Gentle Journey class but eventually I took one of Courtney's high energy classes and survived. A Christian yoga studio and accredited school. My daughter and I were certified last week at this school. It was an amazing experience. I feel it more than meet my expectations. I am not able to get there as often as I would like, because the class schedule does not always work for my alternate work schedule. It is a lovely studio and I enjoy the instructors. LOVE this yoga studio! I used to take my children there when we lived near and they loved it also. I could take a class while they took a class in the next room. This studio and the teachers here gave me such a passion for yoga. I am hoping to move back near there so I can go back.
