I've felt so comfortable with her and was so glad to have finally found a physician to have a good relationship with and that I could trust if any health issues ever arise. ...And then I just received "THE LETTER" that we all dread receiving. That she is going concierge. So now in order to remain her patient, I would have to pay an astronomical retainer fee out of pocket, along with my insurance being billed and any deductibles paid, etc. for my visits. *sigh* So for all of you who can afford the retainer I'm sure she'll be a great physician for you. I live in Santa Monica - so it's an hour drive to see him. But as in finding a great auto mechanic, you never leave a great doctor. He's very caring and thorough, and of course in his UCLA network has many specialists to recommend (luckily all of them are in Santa Monica). He's of course very knowledgeable, being a UCLA professor. Dr. P is a gentle guy who nevertheless tells it like it is. The lab has a separate check-in stand and staff than the rest of the practice. It was confusing for a first time visitor to understand their system. There was a wait to be acknowledged after signing in. Patients are offered seating in a hallway versus a waiting room. Eventually, a phlebotomist called my name and took me into a private room for the blood draw. He was the best part of the visit. Very personable, professional, and able to get the blood flowing (so to speak) with the smallest amount of initial discomfort possible. Definitely a seasoned pro! Mission accomplished, and they sent the results to my MD within a week's time, which was the lead time I was told would happen.
