The instructors here have been very, very hit or miss for me. I've been to this studio 3 times to date via ClassPass. I've had two really awful classes here with instructors that I really did not "prefer," but this studio has been redeemed by Anna Farkas. Her class was fantastic, well constructed, and thoughtful. Showers/ bathrooms are very clean. They offer excellent shampoos/ conditioners/ cleansers/ lotions etc. The cleaning crew is constantly tidying/ mopping/ cleaning the bathrooms. I always get a little skeeved when I have to use a gym shower, but I dare say that this shower was as clean as the shower in my home. Also, I will note that this is not a studio for people who are new to yoga. In all the times I have been to a Y7 studio (WillyB, Bryant Park, UES), not once has an instructor made adjustments. I have been doing yoga for over 10 years, but that doesn't mean I don't need help and adjustments sometimes! The room smelt disgusting for starters. Then I realize I left my keys on the bench after I left. So about 12 mins go by, I come back and I SEE MY KEYS THROUGH THE DOOR. No one is at the front desk, the door is locked, there is no doorbell and I'm out of options. I took a we flow class on Friday at 5:30 PM. The class was pretty full. When you get in, you can hang your coat by the front and there are a lot of lockers as you walk in right across from the lockers, there is a refresh station with deodorant, lotion, dry shampoo, a plastic bag for wet clothing, mints, tissues, face wipes. There's also a blow dryer. There is a water refill station right before you enter the studio. The studio is a rectangle so there's one row in the back and one row in the front. I've taken a class before in the east village, but never in this studio. I don't remember much except I love the music, which is why I go and it did not disappoint this time either. the class had the instructor announced positions, which is fine, but I do wish she could've demonstrated since I'm not an avid Yogi. You do about three or four different flows and then after you learn one flow, you have three minutes to do it on your own. that part I didn't really enjoy because sometimes I would forget the sequence and just felt lost. Do not purchase a membership here -- they make it impossible to cancel and even if you follow instructions they will still charge you. Customer service is non existent so you can't even get a hold of anyone to help you, making it impossible to get your money back. They are unethical and don't care about their students. read more

YOU SHOULD AVOID: ROACH PROBLEM The studio seemed awesome. Fantastic music, good sequences, nice temperature. However, Y7 clearly has a roach problem. My experience was absolutely ruined when I noticed a cockroach scurrying across the studio. I know it's New York but this is not normal for a yoga studio. I left immediately and I hope they fix this problem. It's a deal breaker. read more

I love Y7 Studio's location in Williamsburg. It is a short walk from the Marcy Ave J train stop. The facilities are clean and well kept. My favorite instructor is Phil, who always spices the class up with different moves and challenges. I am always motivated to try new poses, even ones that I've never been able to complete in the past. Phil allows me to at least try them. I will be going back as much as I can. read more

I thoroughly enjoyed sweat fest Tuesday June 12th noon which featured music by Rihanna. I purchased the 3 for $45 intro offer by the way. It is true that one should arrive 15 to 20 min before to settle in and to prepare yourself to yogi. Not only was the playlist enjoyable and congruent based on the opening meditation points but i left with a feeling of accomplishment. The instructor's name is Chelsea Finkle. She was awesome but I do not see her scheduled too often. The playlist evades me but I remember it ending with "diamonds". But every song was tailored to fit the flow. The heated candlelit room felt to be about 90 degrees. This was my 7th yoga class ever. Do not feel intimated. The lack of mirrors assists one on remaining focused on their flow. Concentrate on your breath and keep pushing forward at your own pace. Yoga blocks are also provided and I made sure I used them to assist me. There are showers, lockers and a shoe rack. A vanity mirror with toiletries and a hair dryer, curling iron etc. The bathrooms have malin and goetz and the studio and very clean and smelled fresh. This experience really encouraged me to go further in my practice. read more

I was never into yoga, but Y7 completely changed the game for me. Its a studio that specializes in hot yoga, but the best part of it is that they play the dopest hip hop music (they played God's Plan by Drake the day after it came out and I was v impressed they were on top of that haha) The new Williamsburg location is a huge upgrade from their previous location. Spacious with a nice lobby area. I will say that I wish the lockers were a little more spaced out, but everything else is great and, more importantly, clean!! They have ammentities such as hair ties, deodoarant and make up wiped with malin+goetz products. They have showers and changing rooms as well apart from the bathroom. The staff is also always very accommodating and professional. Class is done on a spacious floor and one thing I love about it is that all the lights are off and you're practicing in a dark room so everyone can flow at their own pace/levels without being distracted by others around you. Typically in a class there are three sets of sequences you practice with the class and you're given time to flow on your own. They range from easy to intermediate, but I won't say that this is a class for beginners. We move pretty quickly through flows, and they dont walk you through poses. Y7 also offers skidless towel rentals ($3) and mat rentals ($2). HIGHLY RECOMMEND getting the skidless towels, it makes the biggest difference in hot yoga because it prevents you from slipping and sliding everywhere. All in all, Y7 is a life-changing yoga studio and I can not wait for the Tribeca location to open up near my office!! A MUST TRY! read more

Y7 Studio on South 1st. New location is on point. Spacious amenities. Better than other studios. Studio Design wise: 1. INside the studio has 1 MAJOR design flaw. They have the front wall completely White. Whoopsies. All wrong. IT is 100% distracting because it shows shadows moving throughout the class so it makes people dizzy & harder to focus in the room. I really like Y7 concept because of the dark room and ability to focus on your own practice. BUT with all the shadows moving of various sizes it's prompts a lot of insecurities which is what I thought was the entire premise for the founders to start the studio. 2. Locker area: Good size lockers; But area is too small and cramped. Need an area for shoes. 3. Front check in: nice desk. nice bench concept. Wrong material though. Another Whoopsies. it shows sweat stains when people sit on it. Also they need a good aromatherapy scent in their. I'm not usually a fan of contemporary yoga but I have heard of this place from more than a few friends so had to try it out. I took the 7am class Hip Hop Wednesday class which was just what the doctor ordered. The fast-paced movements were a bit too fast for me as I like to hold my poses longer, but the beginning and ending were satisfying. I'm used to being pushed to my limit and felt like I wasn't but she was probably being easy on us as it was the early class. Clean showers with Malin + Goetz products to keep me smelling nice for work. The staff was nice and so were the yogis. read more

With so many friendly and helpful hot yoga studios in Williamsburg, why go to Y7 where they are disorganized, unhelpful, and only interested in getting your $$$. I had an issue with my pre-paid package and the only way Y7 offered to resolve it was to have me pay for more classes up front.  And of course, this was after multiple email exchanges since no one wanted to speak with me directly to me.  If your looking for a solid hot yoga experience I recommend CorePower Yoga, Yo BK, and Modo. read more

I love Y7, it's the only place I go to work out and I truly feel refreshed afterwards. My preferred location is Soho, but the Williamsburg location is close to my house and it's easy for commuting. I'm giving this location 4 stars not because of the customer service, amenities or anything else... but because of the horrible stench you are greeted with when you enter the studio. Honestly, I have never smelt this stench at the Soho location.... It's hard to focus on your flow when the room smells bad :( It's great to see someone mopping the floor after the previous class, but maybe it they turned on the fan a bit and let the air circulate out, that would be ideal. Decided to spend the first snowy morning trying out Y7. I had never been. I signed up for an account and paid for the class online about 2 hours before. Made the 30 min trek to the studio to be told I was "waitlisted" and never actually confirmed for the class. As a first time customer- why would I sign up for a full class? I did not. When i signed up i thought i was confirmed. I got my emailed receipt and thought i was good to go. I never received a confirmation email or an email saying I was waitlisted. I am a first timer how was I supposed to know any of this? I get to the studio to not be allowed in the class, not offered any sort of solution except for "you should've gotten a confirmation email." The condescending lady at the front desk kept telling me she could "walk me through the tech." At this point I'm annoyed, covered in snow and won't get to work out that day. Not Only will she do nothing to remedy the situation or offer any satisfactory solution she just says "you can take another class". Well now I don't ever want to go to a Y7 ever again and they will not refund me the cost of the class I wasn't allowed to take. You guys really don't pride yourselves on customer service. Buyer beware. Especially first timers if someone isn't walking you through it. You could get swindled. read more

I took a class today for the first time at Y7 this morning and although I enjoyed the class, the man in the front desk was incredibly rude and disrespectful while trying to make a joke out of all the questions I had I first told him that I checked in on ClassPass and he chuckles and says "oh we dont do that here, you should know" And after the class, I asked how many times a week does this class takes place and he said "uh everyday, its what we do, you should know" . As someone who has had some yoga experience but not a whole lot, I blame the man in the front desk for not making me feel as safe or as welcomed , for making fun of me, and because of his mockery towards someone who is still learning. Would I come back? Probably if that man in the front desk quits. If not, count me out. read more

I recently moved to Williamsburg and am checking out the yoga studios in the area. I purchased the three class starter package. I went to the Wednesday 8:15 hiphop class. In my opinion, this is not a yoga studio for yogis, but rather a place to workout for people who don't know anything about yoga. First of all, the class took place in the dark with all the mats closely packed together and facing the walls (I smell a gimmick), making it difficult to see what I was doing, to experiment with poses that require a bit more space, or to find a point to focus on during balance poses. I received no adjustments from the instructor for the duration of the class. The class went through three flows that consisted of very basic poses. (downward dog, chair, warriors 1&2, 1 back bend and 1 pigeon at the end). First the instructor talks through the flow, then the instructor speeds up the flow, finally the students have a few minutes to go through the flow on their own. This is an interesting concept and I was looking forward to trying it, but like I said, there is not sufficient space or time to really do your own poses. (Another gimmick.) The class does not move particularly quickly. I got sweaty because the studio was hot, not from the poses. They just weren't challenging or interesting. And when I looked around me, I saw a lot of people who didn't know proper technique and were potentially setting themselves up to get injured. I find it hard to believe that someone truly interested in yoga (as opposed to interested in weight loss or something) could actually grow as a yogi at this studio. In summary, the design of both the studio and the classes was interesting, but much too gimmicky for me. Reminded me of the SpiritCycle skits from Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. *Also, because the mats were really close together, I got huffed on for the entirety of the class by the woman to my right whose breath smelled like rotten onions. Not entirely the studio's fault, but still... Eek! If you're looking for yoga, I would highly suggest you check out Yoga Vida! I went to the Union Square location and it's amazing. (They have both hot yoga and normal yoga; just check the location.) read more

Just a warning for yogis that this is not a traditional hot yoga studio. It's not actually hot, they say it's 90 degrees but it feels room temperature. They play 2015 night club music, not what I personally enjoy for my Sunday morning practice. The walls are bare, no mirror to see if you're doing your poses correctly or to help with your balance. I felt like I was going cross eyed trying to balance while staring at a white wall that's 2 feet in front of me. Giving the 3 stars for the space itself, they did a beautiful job except for lack of mirrors in the studio. read more

I'm a regular at Y7 in New York. I'm addicted but unfortunately the heat in the Williamsburg studio room is inconsistent. Half of the classes at this studio are not heated to 80 degrees (and rarely 90 degrees). After a while you learn which instructors heat up the room to the expected temperature, close the door before the class start and do not turn on the fans several times during their class (one of the instructors even turns on the AC during the class - freezing). Such a shame because the flow and vibe is amazing! The inconsistent heat is the only thing that makes me consider switching to another yoga studio in Williamsburg. read more

I love yoga, but I get bored with it quickly. So having this studio with bomb music and candle lighting really helped me get back into yoga and not be bored. The studio is nice and clean. Cute little refresher station, showers, and bathroom. The three classes I went to, oh yeah look online they offer 3 classes for $45 for new students, were never packed to the max. The locker area could totally use more space and some of the front staff could definitely be nicer. But overall still a great studio and I do recommend it. read more

For the amount of yoga studios in the neighborhood I expect a bit better. I love hot yoga and wanted to try some new places. The biggest disappointment was that there was no shavasana at the end of class! For real- that's the best part!! Also I figured I'd just do it on my own- but the teacher opened the door right away (it was really cold outside the room got chilly and breezy immediately) and the cleaning person came in and started mopping right next to me. Also the floor has outlines of where to put your mat and they are so tightly placed I kept touching the person next to me. Also the locker area was weirdly set up and I had to put my stuff down in their retail section just to put my shoes back on. So all in all yeah, no- won't be back. read more

Took a Sunday Hip hop class, much better class that I had in Flatiron. The sequence was a little long and confusing to do solo but when doing together as a class, it was intense and made you really sweat! Amenities arent great for an expensive class. Their should be locker rooms, blowdryers that work and some special touches like other brands have. I think its gross you offer communal brushes, not very sanitary. Would go back but definetly not before I plan on going somewhere after. read more

I realize it's a pull for a lot of people, but honestly it's distracting and about as soothing and motivational as the sound of construction on the Bedford ave stop while waiting for a delayed train to work during rush hour. Really love the teachers here, always a great workout. This location is usually packed during the weekend but if you come earlier in the morning the room is ok. I wish they didn't charge $5 for mat and towel rental. Other than that, the workout is perfect for hot yoga lovers. read more

Yoga was a waste of 60 minutes for me before Y7 (don't hate) - however, really love this workout. From the music to the dark, heated room, no mirrors. It's a really great hour to reset from a busy day or week. Great teachers every time. Everyone on staff I come into contact with is warm and professional. I've frequented several of their studios in nyc and all have been great. Highly recommend giving it a try. read more

I took the class with Molly and she was pretty rad. Really relaxing and intentional. I love how real she was without being overly flowery spiritual. Haha. I was running late and the front desk girl was awesome getting me in the door before it closed. The other girl at the front desk was staring me down hardcore but gave me a friendly have a good night when I walked out. Overall awesome studio! read more

I've recently become interested un yoga and begun taking classes. Hot yoga however I was always afraid to try because I despise sweating and hot rooms make me feel claustrophobic. I didn't have that issue at Y7 because they use infrared heating which means the room doesn't really feel hot but you sweat like you're sitting in the hottest sauna of your life. This does wonders for feeling claustrophobic or feeling like you can't breath well due to thin air. I came to a weflowhard class at 8 on a weekday and it was a great way to unwind after work. There is only one room and its small but it doesn't feel crowded. It gives the place a boutique feel. The room is dark with candlelight and r&b music. You can either bring your own mat or rent one (theres a rack for used and clean so you're not using a mat soaked in a strangers sweat). There are showers but there's not a locker room so I recommend just going home to shower. I'll definitely be back to try out another class, hopefully one of the hip hop weekend ones! read more
