I hadn't known the Y-3 had moved to La Brea since closing its Melrose Avenue store near Marc Jacobs several years ago. The burgeoning La Brea shopping district is neither as high-end as Beverly Hills nor Melrose, and while the Arts District's Dover Street Market wins the race for bleeding-edge hip by a country mile, one store does not a shopping district make. The two-block stretch of La Brea between Beverly Boulevard and Second Street features a selection of stores that are edgy but not outré and pricey but not exorbitant ― perfect descriptions for the sportswear-leaning brand from Adidas and avant garde Japanese fashion legend Yohji Yamamoto. Like the former Melrose store, this is also a small, spartan, monochrome space, with clothes displayed on a lumber frame in the center of an all-white space (save for the exposed timber ceiling). The Y-3 line has long featured a sleek, often deconstructed, futuristic take on the well-known Adidas sportswear aesthetic, including the iconic three stripes detailing (which is where the "3" in "Y-3" derives.) As with Yamamoto's high-fashion lines, the color black predominates. As with more fashion-forward lines, expect sizing to be cut smaller, footwear to be on the narrow side. When I came in, the Spring/Summer collection was all 50% off ― this was a better deal than on the website, where many things were just 30% off. And, looking on the website afterward, I found that quite a few of the items I was looking at were already sold out online (at only 30% off). I nabbed a great oversize logo tote, the last in stock besides the display item, for half the original $120 price as a birthday gift for a friend. Being able to give name brand luxury goods at a price that doesn't bust my wallet? That makes me happy. The staff was very nice and happy to help even with quite a few customers in the store; they are not just sales associates for Y-3 but fans of the brand themselves. I'm glad I found the Y-3 boutique again, and I'm sure I'll visit again soon.

Honestly probably the best customer service in any store on La Brea comes from Y-3! Nice & friendly very informative & knowledgeable about their product and very helpful when it comes to fashion advice. S/O to Justin, Tokumi, Miriam & Izzy

This place is such a beautiful setup, artistic painting and sports memorabilia on the walls. As…read moreyou enter you will find cherry blossoms hanging from the ceiling, I mean this ain't your average shoe store. It is actually pretty amazing in terms of esthetics. The shoe selection is vast, with mostly hard to find and unique shoes. The value is fair for these "hard to get" items. Now for the bad part. I'm not sure what i can say about the service that hasn't already been said. They have many workers and security guards on the floor. They will not acknowledge you, not smile, and not ask you if you need assistance. In fact they will even look at you with disgust for being in there space. I'm not sure how this business model works, but I would never spend money in this place no matter how bad I want the unique selection of shoes. Hopefully the service will get better in future.

Best Shoe Palace I visited. First time here at this location in Little Tokyo- been to LA so many…read moretimes but able to explore this visit. Street parking, meters allow up to two hours- paid $2.50 went in the afternoon. Lots of traffic passing through- not in the best of neighborhoods- a lot of homeless walking around- stay vigilant and don't engage. Walk opposite direction if needed- Back to the store, looks like any store from the outside, but when u enter, the entrance display is Asian themed- video showing a dragon moving through Asian inspired flowers- looked dope. Nike display on left side, Adidas display on the right side. You have to walk towards the back to see a Jordan lounge 23 and wow, pictures don't do it justice! I'm such a shoe person that I couldn't stop taking pictures of it, my son and I agreed this was the best Shoe Palace we been too! We did not buy any sneakers but we were greeted when we walked in. If you are in the area, worth checking out!
