New Viet opened round the corner with a fancy looking interior..
Ordered the spring rolls (nem) and beef, green pepper and chilli with sticky rice:
Nems: were OKish but they smelt a bit funny, which must have been the oil it was cooked in. The plating was a really trying to make it look fancy but resulted in being unpractical as the nems were sliced diagonally resting on a bed of mixed salad with "nuoc cham" dipping sauce being at the bottom of the bowl below the salad, which clearly wasn't ideal for dipping the nems in.
Beef with green pepper and chili: should be renamed, "All the vegetables in the world stir-fry with small bits of beef in a water sauce". Was pretty dire. How many different types of vegetables can you put on 1 plate? 8: Courgettes, carrots, mushroom, bamboo shoots, aubergines, red bell pepper, field salad and 1 mint leaf and a tiny pod of the green pepper.
The sticky rice - their signature dish - was also pretty bland but edible.
The service was nice but they still charged me for the meal that I hardly ate and complained about.
Just another low quality Viet place but with a Tor Strasse interior. read more
