They had a huge bar area stocked with ice and water, the ceiling had these fancy shiny flashing lights that were changing every few minutes, the back of the bus, the front and the sides they all had these glowing panels and there was a huge TV in the wall, about 55 or 60 inches. Not to mention the sound system. My friend brought a cooler on board. It wasn't her first time on a Party Bus and she knew what to bring/do and how to arrange all the routing. Apparently they are one of the best Party Bus companies in Chicago having all the nicest buses around. If I ever go visit Chicago again I will surely rent from them.

Prospect Public Library held for spring break. That was very very well attended, with a long line of folks waiting to get in (and that's with all of us registered to attend!), but the show was a lot of fun. He did a little magic, a little comedy, and some fun balloon tricks. This guy has been doing this all his adult life--unless that's also a joke and part of his act--but regardless, he's great at his job. I'm looking forward to seeing him again and my little one having the chance to pick her balloon creation on her own.

A holy-grail destination for summer days with kids. They have a lazy river full of innertubes, and giant 2.5 foot deep pool with a play structure and various splashing items, plus a splash pad, and a junk food concession. It is neither a real swimming pool nor a water park. Not a real swimming pool because the deepest part of the pool is 2.5 feet deep. Not a water park because there's no actual waterslide, though there is a slide ... into the water -- if you grasp the distinction I'm making. But as a consequence this means that you can feel much more comfortable giving even young kids a decent amount of freedom (obviously not too much! be safe!) and generating the kind of wet, chlorinated, hot, happy, exhausted summer day that you may have grown up with as a kid. Chicago is a big city of rich amenities, so there are not a ton of things that I say are clearly worth a 45 minute drive from my house, but this is one of them.

He is much nicer and more fun to be around than a lot of people my own age. He's been teaching the hubby and I a lot of new things. It's incredible. With absolutely no prodding on our part, his all time favorite movie is Nightmare before Xmas. He absolutely adores Jack Skellington. You should hear him screaming Marilyn Manson's version of "This is Halloween". Normally, I avoid stores like Spencer's Gifts. I've been around that type of merchandise way too long. I don't think that I can accurately describe the look of pure joy that I saw in his face when we passed their window. There was Jack Skellington stuff EVERYWHERE!!! He marched into that store like a little grown up, and inspected all of the Jack merchandise and calmly approached one of the salesladies and asked, "Excuse me, may I please see that?" He is obsessed with animated talking figures. Of skulls and monsters of course. He had to have this one, there was no if, ands, or buts about it. The staff here totally rocks! They not only took care of his request, they led him to every single Jack Skellington item in the store! They totally treated him like a rock star! It killed me. They also remembered that they received a shipment of posters that they had not yet put out on the floor. BFB was able to get a talking Jack Skellington, 3 different winter hats, a scarf, chapstick and a poster for his room today. I am secretly coming back for the blanket and pillow when he is not with me for his Christmas gift from Santa. I can't help it, I love that he is an individual and doesn't give a damn about what other kids his age are into. I feel it is important to cultivate that confidence, and damn it all, I needed to buy him new winter things anyways. I am quite sure that the staff loved us back for the amount of money that we ended up spending.
