Damage to vanity
Alexandra B.

Omar and the mitigation/demo team were great! Very helpful, reliable, knowledgeable and always kept me in the loop. I was immediately very impressed with this team, they boxed up all my personal items and always cleaned up at the end of every day. The restoration part was very disappointing. To start, after someone came out to get an estimate for the repairs, I somehow fell through the cracks because I had to follow up with them as to when they would begin the work. I was told the repairs would take three weeks (this would put me into completion after Christmas). The repair team seems to be very careless and didn't communicate with me very well as to who would be coming next or when. Many times, they would just show up at my door, without notice or a heads up. I was constantly having to follow up and ask if anyone would be coming by to work on repairs. While replacing my bathroom vanity, they damaged my bathroom door, didn't inform me of the damage and I only found out because they painter they sent out to paint the bathroom was also instructed to paint the door they damaged and patched up. After they "fixed" the door it still looked horrible. They also chipped my vanity. After multiple attempts on repairing the damage on the door, it's now January 18th and it's still not done. Another thing is the repair team didn't seem to communicate with the mitigation/demo team. A day before the painter was scheduled to come paint I was asked if ai had the paint. I told them that I did not have it so they then had to cut out a piece of the wall that wasn't replaced to get a color match. Then the painter was told to paint my garage ceiling white. After he began paining he showed me how the ceiling was not painted any color and he believed it was just texturized. I agreed. His foreman told him it was primer, so the painter was instructed to primer it. He only primered the parts ceiling that were replaced, which was about half the ceiling. As a result, half of my ceiling was primered and the other half just texturized. So the painter ended up coming back and primerring the entire ceiling to even it all out. Again, I was told this was going to be a three week repair in early December...it's now mid January and it's not done!

This has been one of the worst experiences that I have had. I had just closed escrow in the my condo and I was doing some changes on my teenage sons bathroom, my sons has a prosthetic leg due to a type of bone cancer he had a few years ago, so I hired a plumber to replace the bathtub and maintenance turns on the water 3 hours before they were supposed to. I had major water damage all over my condo , walls , floors , kitchen 2 bathrooms . I called my insurance company and they were going to send a restoration company , then a family member recommended Xpress , I called Leo the owner and he immediately arranged with Omar (Xpress employee ) to come pack my entire house and put everything in storage , and the contract was that once my condo was ready in December they would come back and unpack everything the same as it was. after I moved out , thats when the the problems started, there had to be an abatement and a mitigation before repairs, and the insurance company did take a while to send out the checks to fox the condos. Once Xpress started to work on the condo there was a very very bad lack of communication, Gilberto who was the project manager would not answer my messages , I had had to constantly be calling for updates, I would go to my condo and nothing was being done . In November I called Leo the owner and explained the situation I had the Airbnb until December 17 which was the day I was supposed to move back in my condo , to make this story very short I move into my condo on December 26th. I had to move to 2 other Airbnbs with my family , my son and 2 service dogs. Nobody cared that was struggling to find a place to spend Christmas and to find proper accommodations for my handicapped son. On December 23 Gilberto send me a voice message promising my condo would be ready on December 26 and my son would have all the accommodations my son needed. On December 26 I move in and there was no kitchen, both bathrooms were not done at all, my sons bathroom was a total hazard for him with screws, nails , equipment on the floor , it was dirty and it smelled the unpacking was not done the boxes were just thrown in , I understand it was hard to unpack because the was no bathrooms or kitchen, the packing and unpacking service was $8,000 dollars at least a partial refund should of been done. My family and I had to stay there and clean and Xpress was still not doing the job, I had to fire Xpress and hire someone else to finish the bathrooms and kitchen , I had to repaint and the flooring had to be fixed. The vanity I had picked through express was installed wrong and I had to go buy one from Lowe's, I had to have someone else fox my sons bathroom and the master room bathroom, 2 doors were lost and part of the shelves of the closet. If your care about your home and family don't hire Xpress , they completely took advantage of my family situation and did not care. I will post pictures of what my condo looked like on December 26th when I moved in , after I had been promised it would be prefect the only thing I was told by Gilbert that would not be finished was the kitchen but it would be done by December 30th. Almost 1 year later i am posting this bevaie I did want to take care of this in peace although I did not receive a reimbursement for the unpacking or the fact that I had to repaint and fox the molding , and clean etc..... this is something that is now going to go through the courts unfortunately. Pictures below are like my condo was passed on to me when I gave the voice message and texts that it would be perfect except for the kitchen and that my son would have the appropriate accommodations.

They are the most professional contractors we have ever worked with. The crew always showed up on time, very easy to reach, and were very honest. Leo, Luis, and Steven pay very close attention to detail. Our home now looks like a model home after severe water damage to the entire first floor. They made it easy to deal with our insurance adjusters.

They were professional on the phone and carefully went over my expectations as well as the service they could provide. Few things that I noticed: 1. Professional attitude - Bello arrived on time and after the initial walkthrough, he went over the entire process. He went over different types of carpet cleaning they provided (standard vs. deep clean), how long the process will take, how long to dry, face masks/shoe covers they'd use (he even offered me some shoe covers!) 2. Competitive pricing - pricing was very competitive from the quotes I received from other cleaners. Bello also provided a breakdown of the cost and answered any questions I had. I appreciated that he was upfront with the costs and there were no hidden/unexpected charges at the end. 3. They have a portable machine! I was worried that the truck mounted machine wouldn't be able to reach my unit so they were kind of enough to bring a portable machine (does require extra charge though). 4. Thorough and careful - the team brought corner protectors so that their machines did not damage the walls/paint. They also took the time to wipe up any wet spots left by the machine on the non-carpeted areas. I am very satisfied with their professionalism and quality work. I'll be recommending them to anyone I know who needs their carpets cleaned and will definitely use their services again!

Daniel can be a bit hard to get a hold of, particularly through texts, but the water damaged areas were fixed quickly once we were able to schedule it. After that we were assigned Larry Ingramm as the project manager for reconstruction and I have nothing but praise for him. He is great at communicating, knowledgeable about the products and services, incredibly patient when we had a hard time making decisions, and went above and beyond every time we asked for help or clarification. We were so lucky to have him as our first project manager! At the beginning of the reconstruction project, there was a lot of stressful miscommunication between myself, the remediation department and home insurance with regard to where payments were being allocated and Larry helped clear a lot of that up. Our project has since been passed on to a different person due to time and resource constraints but Larry immediately worked on getting the new PM up to date on the whole situation so there wouldn't be any miscommunications. Larry left such a good impression that we felt the need to praise his work even though we haven't completed our reconstruction project yet. Things are also looking good with the new project manager Junior. He got in touch with me immediately after the project was transferred to him and has been very respectful. I had one question about a procedure and he answered so clearly and succinctly that I was floored. I really think it's the first time anyone I've ever worked with at a business level that has answered one of my questions that clearly. From just that one answer, I'm quite impressed and no longer apprehensive about this project moving forward. If only everyone was a Larry or Junior, life would be so stress free! I am excited to get our reconstruction project underway and would definitely call on these two again if needed. The remediation portion of my experience gets a 3.8 stars since I wasted a lot of time figuring out the ropes when both my home insurance and Cutting Edge could have been clearer about who should pay remediation (hint - home insurance typically pays remediation directly, and the customer only starts paying when reconstruction starts). Larry and Junior both get 10 stars each for communication, and work ethic which is why Cutting Edge is still getting 5 stars from me overall. I will update this review after reconstruction is actually finished but I think it'll be just fine since Junior will be overseeing this.

Very disappointing experience…read more Communication was poor throughout the project. I rarely knew when they were coming or what the timeline looked like unless I asked. The biggest issue is that they damaged a custom cabinet during removal and were unable to match it when replacing it. Their first attempt was a plywood cabinet that looked nothing like the surrounding cabinetry. The second attempt used solid wood but still didn't match. They eventually brought in another cabinet maker and got closer, but the replacement still very obviously does not match the rest of my kitchen. Now I will have to hire another company to redo the work to get a proper match. Their solution was offering 20% off the invoice, which doesn't come close to covering the cost of fixing the problem. If you're installing all new cabinets from a wholesaler, their work might be fine. But if you have custom or high-end cabinetry that needs to match, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

I've had them working in my home now since October for a job they told me would be done, Dec 5th. It's almost February. I can't even begin to explain everything that has gone wrong but here are the highlights: Sales guy named Sergio who promised the moon and the stars, all was a lie. Contracted a guy named Manny who would never show. Ambiguous quote that the owner Jaime could not stand behind and has tried to go back on several time now. Project manager, Chris as much as I want to like the guy, promises only get you so far. Workers have chipped my new vanity, cracked tiles, scratched my new toilet seats. They couldnt even center a showerhead in one bathroom and the hot water comes out cold in my other shower because the faucet was installed wrong. Has issues with countertops being installed. The first bathroom was not supposed to have a backsplash because I had a tile wall behind. The second bathroom needed a backsplash because there was no tile behind. Of course, they got both bathrooms wrong! It's literally been like this almost every day of the project. Everyone points the finger at each other while the owner Jaime has his assistant Gabriela send invoices for material costs that we never agreed on because they overpromised. No accountability. No time management. No respect for working Mom. The only guy who has done a good job is the tile guy Eduardo who has to keep coming back and redoing work because the other workers can't get the job done right the first time. I've literally never had a vendor drive me so insane in my life. Everyone warned me that contractors can be terrible but never in my life would I have imagined the stress this company could cause me. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere, no matter how cheap their quote is or what other reviews or even their references (I called) say!

They came and removed the affected walls' baseboards and carpet ends, and set up some drying and dehydration machines for the affected areas, which we had running over the course of 3 days. Afterwards, they merely came and removed the machines, and did a check to confirm that the area was dry enough. The job should only have been worth a small amount for the labor involved, plus the rental costs for the machines. But they charged us a whole $2,000, and they didn't even put any baseboards or carpet ends back in, saying that repairs were not a part of this work order, and that we'd have to pay for a whole new work order in order to do so! We had originally only agreed to pay $2,000 because we thought it was only reasonable that everything would be put back in place and repaired at this price point. The problem we have here is that the company never clearly and explicitly communicated with us to ensure we understood that repairs were not included before we signed to agree to the work order, which they would have done if they were an honest company. We had only received an email that briefly mentioned the lack of repairs involved in the job. When we asked for an itemized cost breakdown and expressed our disappointment, they only sent us a very general report of the work they had done, and had the audacity to claim that it is unfair to them for us to say and ask for these things! We now still have missing baseboards in the rooms that they worked on and the carpet ends are still removed in the closet, as we have not reinstalled them yet. If this were a company that cared about customers, they would have ensured our understanding of the limits of the job before signing. They obviously did not do so, and it seems like such omissions and unclear communications could have been done intentionally to try and get as much money from us as possible, abusing our lack of understanding. I do not recommend hiring this company, as they appear to not respect customers and be deceptive in their communications and practices in order to try and rip them off.
