Despite, ironing being it's primary focus, all the services offered here can be completed in double quick time (parents phone you on their way for a surprise visit??). The prices are surprisingly reasonable and the staff very friendly and helpful. They look pity on me, when I looked completely bemused by their laundry service related questions and said 'it's alright just come back before 5pm tomorrow and it'll be done'. This laundry is only a few minutes' walk away, open seven days/week, and for £24 (cash-only), she washed, dried, folded, AND delivered our laundry to the hotel (sealed in plastic)! It was a terrific time-saver to be able to leave the laundry and spend our final day in Glasgow doing fun stuff rather than sit and wait for a wash and dry. We had one load of laundry, all washed (our choice, cold water) and dried together (10 pairs of socks, ten underwear, six t-shirts, one cotton dress).

Since it was a bridesmaid dress, I was pretty nervous about the hands I'd trust to make the changes. While I was there, I had another floor length dress I wanted to have a small alteration made to so I popped along with both. Firstly, this place is BUSY... so try to avoid any peak times to pop in. It was a bit chaotic - they got me to try on the bridesmaid dress, pinned it to size and then took the instructions for my other dress (without trying on which I thought was strange). After quoting me a figure for them both - it was on the pricier side - I paid in cash (they don't take cards) and said to come back in a week. On my return a week later, the dress wasn't ready. So I went back the next day, where the bridesmaid dress was done (HUZZAH), but my other one hadn't even been touched and I needed it for the next night so it was too late. Although I did get a refund, I'm not sure why they gave me a dress back which clearly hadn't been altered. To their credit, the slightly complex changes to the dress they did alter were done perfectly and my dress looked great on the big day. I'm just not sure with all the hassle that I'd choose to go back again.

They could present themselves alot better, but maybe their strategy works just like tacky Chinese stuff makes people wild. SO much cheaper in here than other dry cleaners, particularly Johnsons. The first time I went to city, I found that again they could not stay open late enough for me so another early morning. I paid £4 to have trusers pressed with special glue, oooo! Yes and thrown in extra was a good 20 minute lesson explained thouroughly as to how I would go about doing this myself? That is not ideal for business, a one off purchase of £4 and I am sent on my way with the key to the knowledge resulting in me never having to return there again. Silly, but very kind, and I will go back because I don't want to iron.

(I was picked up by none other than Aidan Moffat. True story.) Anyway Johnsons the Cleaners had pronounced said grey suit dead (and charged me for the privilege), but City Dry Cleaners brought it back to life last month! Amazing!
