I have to give a huge shoutout to Derek, the house manager at The Fillmore Philadelphia. We showed…read moreup at 6 AM to camp out for the concert, fully prepared to spend the next 12+ hours sitting on the ground, and we were definitely a little miserable that early in the morning. Derek completely changed the start of our day. He was such a kind soul, incredibly friendly, brought us chairs, checked on us, and genuinely cared that we were comfortable and were going to have a great experience. That kind of positive attitude at 6 AM says a lot about a person. Derek made us feel taken care of before the concert experience had even really begun. He is exactly the kind of manager you want representing your venue and setting the example for his team. Such a great way to start what ended up being an amazing concert experience.

Grateful doesn't even begin to cover it. I had an amazing…read morefirst time experience at the Filmore. It's been a long time since I've been to a concert, and what I experienced at Tash Sultana's show was unlike anything I've ever witnessed before. Drums. Guitar. Saxophone. Flute. Bells and sooo much more. Vocals that soared from whispers to powerful crescendos. Every instrument seemed like an extension of Tash, and every note felt intentional. People often say music is healing, music is therapy, music is universal. Last night, I felt that. Not just heard it--felt it. The audience wasn't there just to watch a performance. We were there to witness artistry. To share a moment of connection through rhythm, sound, and frequency. For a few hours, strangers were a community united by music/frequency. The team at the Fillmore made the experience even better. From security and "Jay" at coat/merch check, "Meghan" Guest Services, "Bob" food & beverage service (Card Only). I enjoyed my "Vegan" Burger and the refreshing Wildberry beverage in a commemorative Filmore cup. Thank you for the recommendation, Blithe. "Steve" provided kind seating assistance upstairs. Everyone we encountered was welcoming and helpful. Those small acts of kindness matter and should be acknowledged and are very much appreciated. And to Tash--thank you. Thank you for sharing your gifts so generously. Thank you for creating a space where people could simply be present, breathe, feel, and reconnect with themselves. I've traveled through a lot in life, but last night reminded me why "live music matters". Some concerts entertain you. Some concerts remind you who you are. Somewhere along the way, my son and I became known as "the cake people." If you know, you know. If you haven't experienced Tash Sultana yet, do yourself a favor: Tune in. Thank you again Filmore for hosting this memorable experience.

WHAT?! How have I not reviewed you??!??…read more Okay, bear with me. Could the venue have more amenties? Sure. Could the ingress and throughways inside be managed better when the crowd is sardines in a can? Sure. Can every experience in life be "more" or "better" if we're being extra picky, eventually turning those same experiences into a sterile, "will never offend anyone," suburb-coded "I come into the city once in a while for a good show but I hate the parking situation" experience? Yes. But not the the TLA, no. The TLA is Philly as hell. It's not there to give you extra-wide seats or a pinky off the champagne glass kind of vibe. It's there to be affordable. It's there to connect you with all sorts of different people there to see the same great show. And it's there to remind you that sometimes, sticky sweaty is the way to go. In the TLA, we're rawdogging sweaty air and great acts. It's where you go to see the acts that come through town where everyone who shows up REALLY wanted to show up - the performers because they're not stadium famous, and the attendees because they love those same performers all up in their bones. Things might be tight in the venue, but there's always room for fun and dancing.

I was lucky to get balcony seats in row B - they were amazing! Pretty comfortable and an amazing view. There's also a bar up there so you don't have to go downstairs.

Love this place! I will definitely be back. Came down to Philadelphia for the Heathen & Void show…read moreat Nikki Lopez, and got there early, so spent some time at the bar and talked with the owner a bit. Very cool vibe, framed punk rock posters on the walls, lots of NYHC playing on the sound system. Good beer selection. Then upstairs is the stage. It's roughly comparable to Milkboy's upstairs stage areas, in terms of size. There is one bathroom downstairs (sometimes two), and two upstairs, and both floors have a bar. The bartenders are very nice, which is important. The sound for Heathen's show was quite good. I like the stage setup and general atmosphere of both floors. The downstairs bar area has an open front, so on nice days you can sit on their couch or comfortable chairs and enjoy a drink while watching the people go by. They seemed to have a spot right out front, too, for band vans. Not all venues have that! When I was in a band, it would have been much appreciated. All in all, a wonderful place. I wish I could make it to the Murphy's Law show this coming weekend. But will be back, regardless, at some point in the near future.

If you are looking for incredible comfort food and an absolutely massive (and strong) bourbon…read moreselection, The Twisted Tail is a must-visit. The inside has a great cozy vibe, feeling like a small, quaint pub where you just want to settle in and stay awhile, which in fact we did. We started our meal with two incredible appetizers. First, we built an amazing cheese and ham charcuterie board, choosing 5 different cheeses that were all fantastic. We also ordered the Whipped Ricotta, which was out-of-this-world delicious. The maple syrup drizzle was a perfect touch, and it paired beautifully with the pumpkin seed puree and grilled bread. For my main course, I went with the Beer-Battered Fish & Chips. The fish was cooked absolutely perfectly, crispy on the outside, flaky on the inside, and just super tasty overall. The portion was pretty amazing too. It came served with parmesan chips, malt mayo, malt vinegar, and tartar sauce, which completed the dish perfectly. Even though I was stuffed, I couldn't resist dessert. The cinnamon beignets were light, fluffy, and the absolute perfect ending to a phenomenal meal. The other component I'll mention is there were four of us dining and every single one of us thought the food was just terrific! Not a single complaint! I should also mention the service was attentive and pleasant. Society Hill has a lot of dining options, but this place completely stands out. I'd definitely go back! Highly recommend!
