I stumbled upon Xolo Cocina by accident while walking to another restaurant. Thankfully, we couldn't find the other restaurant and chose Xolo Cocina instead.
The owner was SO sweet to us and her English was great. She knew we were traveling and were struggling with Spanish. She explained the entire menu to us in depth and the words poured out like poetry. She is proud of her restaurant and there's a reason why. The food was absolutely delicious (or what she taught us that Argentinians say...spectacular)! She remembered us when we visited a second time. She's such a sweet woman and is passionate about the food.
We ordered a little of everything, pineapple margaritas, taquitos, guacamole, and our main courses were the ribs de cerdo al pastor and the costra de queso rellena de carne. She brought us chipas (Argentina cheese bread) to try as well. At the end, she offered us dessert, corn ice cream or vegan ice cream with cocoa. We chose the corn ice cream and OOOOOMG. I'm now obsessed with corn ice cream.
Everything was SOOO good. I wish I could take this gem of a restaurant back home with us. There's nothing quite like it.
I never visit the same place twice when I travel because I like trying different restaurants but Xolo was absolutely outstanding that I visited twice. read more
