Appetizer Plate: Crab Rangoon, Boneless Spareribs, Beef Teriyaki, Pork Fried Rice

Solid Chinese food, standard faire. I really like their egg drop soup, fresh and not gloopy like other places. Very friendly staff and I've never had a mistake on my order. Clean facility.

The Chinese food here is pretty good. I come here during lunch hours for the Daily Combination Plates (27 to choose from served with rice & choice of one appetizer, except #20-appetizer plate), priced at $5.75 before 3PM and $8.25 after 3PM. It's order at the counter with open kitchen and small dining area with table seating (usually full during weekday lunch rush). I usually get the #11 Shrimp Lo Mein with pork fried rice & 2 beef teriyaki sticks (sweet and very tender), and the food is ready in under 10 minutes. I would give the food 4 stars, but there was an incident after my last visit. I got my food to go, which was boxed in a styrofoam container & plastic bagged. As I was driving back to the office with my lunch, the box started to leak sauce through the bag and onto the front seat and on some documents. WTF!!! I was not happy and many other Chinese places I've been to will staple the edges of the container to prevent leakage during transport.

This is mainly a take-out place, with 5 tables inside. You order at the counter, and they'll bring it over to you once it's ready. Definitely a casual spot - not really a restaurant so much as a takeout joint with a few tables. - I went to the dry cleaners near here and figured I'd try them out for lunch. Pretty good! - First, it's kinda warm in here. It was hot and muggy outside and it was pretty warm in here, too. They have an AC unit in the corner trying it's hardest to cool things off, but it does a terrible job. Anyhow, order at the counter - hot and sour soup, and a lunch portion of general tso's chicken. That and a soda came to under $12. - I sat down and after awhile they bring over the soup. It's in a takeout container. Did I mention this place is causal? Well, the soup was awesome. A little bit too goopy (yeah that's gross but it was overly-thick) but it tasted great. It was fresh too - the liquid was clear. (Foggy hot and sour soup means it's from yesterday). - Then they bring over the chicken - it's in a styrofoam takeout container. I opened it up and was surprised at how much was in there. A giant mound of rice, an enormous egg roll, and a nice amount of chicken. I thought I'd only eat half, but because I'm a pig, I ate nearly all of it. I'm sure I'll be down for the count soon. - The general tso's chicken was OK - I've had better. It could be crispier, but overall it's better than most places. The rice was good. The egg roll was great - reminded me of the kind we'd get at kids from our local chinese restaurant. - It's hot in there. I got the Homer-Simpson-sweats eating here. I'd go again, maybe when it cools down. The food was good so if you're looking for that classic American-style Chinese food, this is your place.

General Tso's dinner w/ pork fried rice, and boneless spare ribs.

An excellent find! The menu is SO large you'd think they couldn't handle it, and perhaps they can't…read morebut certainly they nailed both of our orders. One Thai (eggplant) and one from Shaanxi China region (Biang Biang). I ordered the Biang Biang extra spicy but I'm guessing they didn't believe me. It was tasty but regular spice level. It's clear that there were actual Szechuan peppers in it - characteristic tingle effect. Which is nice to see now that the US has decided they're not poison after all. The braised eggplant with Thai basil (hence known as basil eggplant in most Thai restaurants) was creamy in texture and rich in flavor. The meal started with hot and sour soup, which was surprising. The cup was quite large and the soup was absolutely packed with ingredients. Tofu, wood ear mushrooms, lily buds and more. Super satisfying, although I ordered a side of black vinegar to get it a bit more sour. The prices were super reasonable for normal portions but the portions weren't normal - they were HUGE. Half the noodles went home with me as well as half the braised eggplant. Hard to see how they support such huge portions without correspondingly huge prices.

For another weekend lunch, I returned to House of Noodles and Sushi and ordered the spicy cumin…read morelamb biang biang noodles ($14.95) to satisfy a spicy noodle craving. As with before, I received a seat immediately, ordered, and received my meal all within 10 minutes. Today's noodle texture remained bouncy. The dish didn't seem as hot temperature wise,.and the chili oil seemed a bit less fragrant than before. Portion size still seemed decently large.

Super good chicken fingers. Cooked fresh and not…read more greasy...there was no one there which I felt was unfortunate.

Let me preface this review by saying that I have lived most of my life in Boston, Chicago, and NYC…read more Chinese food in these cities is legendary. Since moving to Amherst, NH 5 years ago, my wife and I have tried several places locally and have been disappointed every time. Golden Palace was on my radar as I frequent the hardware store in the same plaza. It always looked like it was closed so I never gave it much thought. On 5/17/26 we had a friend at the house and he recommended we try this place. He told us a few years ago that it was pretty good...... We arrived around 4pm. All of the lights were off except in the very front of the restaurant. There were 3 teens at a table but no one else in sight. There was a young, friendly girl at the counter. She asked if we wanted to be seated but we were only getting takeout. While looking at the menu for about 10 minutes with my wife putting our order together, not a single person came in and not a single phone order. We considered leaving as this place seemed a little shady, but we placed our order anyway giving it a chance. Nothing fancy. One entree and a PUPU platter with a large pork fried rice. My wife commented on the way home that it smelled really good, and I agreed. We got home, unpacked it, and took our first bites. I noticed the fried rice had a fishy, like low tide fishy, taste but didn't say anything. She took her first bite and said the same to me. The appetizers had ZERO flavor and were just slightly undercooked and not very crispy. The Szechuan beef was ok. Very tender but lacking in overall flavor. Neither of us ate very much. Just enough to not be hungry anymore. Disappointed at best. It cost us $63 to basically feed the resident opossum in our yard. We won't be back.
