I'm surprised to see the negative reviews after eating a perfectly good meal from here. I notice most of the reviews are about dining in, which I can't comment on since I ordered delivery. Crab rangoon, egg drop soup, boneless pork, cashew chicken and rice. All were great. The mushrooms in the egg drop soup kind of threw me, and I love mushrooms. They just weren't right for my taste. We went for dinner with our aged 4 and 5 year old grand daughters. We were seated in dining room. Nonetheless did we realize that the wall between us and bar area was a thin piece of mesh. Our grand daughter's had to listen to the drunks next to us whose every other word was a cuss word. Never again will we eat there! read more

Jade dragon food has greatly improved! We took about a 6 month hiatus from ordering here while we tried other local restaurants for our weekly Sunday meal. After reading recent reviews of other positive experiences we gave it another shot and we're so glad we did! They changed their menu slightly - but we've now enjoyed both take out and dine in within the past month. This time I got the General Gaus combo and my husband got the Cashew Chicken combo. So many folks said that the Jade was good again, after years of decline, so we decided to try them again. So glad we did! They have a new chef and the food was excellent. Sesame chicken, veggie lo mein and steak teriyaki and crab Rangoon for my husband. Beef and broccoli, pork fried rice and chicken wings and chicken fingers. All of the food was stand out delicious. The only down side was my husband's meal came out and I had to wait about 10 minutes more for mine. They said the chicken wings take longer, so why didn't they make my husband's meal to match the timing of mine. Also, although our waiter was a sweetheart, when I asked for another round, he stood there and insisted I finish my drink while he waited! That has never happened before and I would strongly suggest they never do that again. Other than a few bumps, though, the food was wonderful. read more

This by far is my favorite Chinese food to eat. The best in the north east. The chicken wings, crab rangoon and boneless spare ribs are just incredible and have them down in how to cook them. Especially the chicken wings they are so big compared to other places. I am from Merrimack and remember when George ran the place and would stop by the table to say hi every time we went there. I've never tasted prison food but suspect it isn't much different from the food here. The meat dishes were dressed in slimy sweet sauces that left one dish indistinguishable from the other. The chicken fingers were batter fingers. I might have been a bit more understanding if there was a rush of customers but this was not the case. The food reminded me of cafeteria food in grade school where "pizza" was an English muffin with American cheese and tomato sauce. At least this ersatz food was the result of budgetary restrictions. Ok Jade is due for some VERY well deserved love. We're a simple family of 4, and none of us are afraid of enjoying a meal. Whenever we've moved, We tend to find our local-est bestest. Pizza, Chinese, Italian, Indian, etc... we just moved back to Merrimack and it will be tough to top Jade. Jade has been there ever since i can remember. It is SHAMEFUL how rough people have been on the reviews. It DOES have an unpleasant odor to the place walking in, which is likely a plumbing issue, but the food is VERY good and portions are *absurd*. At our 'old go to place', our order was a pupu for 3, and a rice or noodle side. That order meant We'd be guaranteed leftovers for the next day. I TOTALLY under estimated at Jade. I ordered our typical pupu for 3, lo mein and scallion pancakes. The amount of food was 2 1/2 times what we could eat. It was as good if not slightly better than Chinese food we've had in the past, and we literally had two days of meals, and lunch leftover on a 3rd day. And prices were right in line with anything we've had. I'm not sure if there is better close by, but also not sure we'll try. VERY good place!! read more

It was very quiet, almost empty with only one other couple when I visited. The waiter was very friendly but it was slightly awkward because he stood by, watching, waiting for us to be ready. I guess he was bored. No matter where I get Chinese I have to get crab rangoon, and theirs is to die for. The portions are large and everything I tried is good, except the General Gau's chicken - I find that chewy, cartilidge-y chicken is very common with Chinese food but it never fails to gross me out. Jade Dragon has some really tasty Chinese food. It's not the healthy, feel-good-about-yourself stuff, but it's the delicious I-can't-stop-eating-but-probably-wouldn't-even-if-I-could kind of cuisine. Big, golden fried chicken fingers, sweet and smoky spare ribs with that delectable little char on the outside, plump and sweet beef teriyaki, humongous, creamy crab Rangoon, buttery lo mein, and crispy, sweet orange chicken. Stopped in to get some take-out after a long flight back to Manchester. I just ordered some house special fried rice to go at the bar & had a beer while it was being prepared. Typical scene at the bar...regulars wary of the new guy who just walked in...but I'm fine with that...it's the same all over and it's not meant to discredit this place as the regulars were having a good time and harmless. The beer was ICE cold and the rice was still steaming hot by the time I got home (30 minutes later). Very good rice....will be back again to explore the menu a little more. read more

So here's my take on this restaurant! The food is always beyond fantastic and portion sizes are amazing for the price. There is only one thing that REALLY irritates me and that is the miserable woman at the front. I confronted her the other day when we ordered some dinner as the restaurant is supposed to close at 9, but she stops taking orders for the customers at 8:30 because she wants to close at 9:00 on the dot and send her employees home. Really wanted some good Chinese stopped in here, we got orange chicken and general tsaos with hot and sour soup. When the soup came out it was still cold.. so I'm assuming it's nuked in a microwave which is fine most people pre make a lot of soup but at least serve it warm.. my orange chicken was awesome I thought it would come with rice but I guess that's extra?? Known to the locals as simply, "The Jade". Most of The Jades business comes after 10PM on Friday and Saturday evenings since they are open until 1AM. This is the place to go after the other spots in town close for the night. There is a restaurant, and a bar section. On Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights there is karaoke in the bar. They draw a descent size crowd there. The food is OK, nothing great, but not too bad either. It's standard Chinese fare. Food is also served in the bar. The drinks are cheap and pretty strong. Chances are they'll have whatever game that is in season game on the several televisions. They usually have the sound turned off though. If you're going to the bar and smoke bothers you, don't even bother. read more

Food is always good. However I STRONGLY recommend you get take out. Try not to go in if you don't have to. If you do go in, you may want to keep your mask on even at the table as there is a terrible odor throughout the whole restaurant. I've gotten take out from here many a time and it's always been good. I actually went in and sat down for lunch today. I had one of the combo platters consisting of chicken chow main, pork fried rice and beef teriyaki. Rice was good but kind of dry, chow main was too soupy beef teriyaki was really good. Also had spicy buffalo wings, they were good not really that spicy. Overall, I'd say this place is a lot better than your average cheap chinese restaurant but not amazing either. Best Mai tai ever to be had in here! Lets be honest it's pretty divey in here but it's the best kind of divey. The food is typical takeaway fair but if you choose to eat in it always comes out quickly and you get to experience the bar area with all of the interesting shall we say characters in here. I have been here more than several times, let's say. The Jade Dragon serves a traditional American Chinese menu with some newer items mixed in. We have always been more than satisfied with the food, beverages, and service over the years. No place you frequent is 100 percent 100 percent of the time, but the Jade does better than most. They have always served a great Mai Tai and other asst drinks. They even have a nice assortment of Mai Tai flavors available. Make sure you try more than the traditional pupu platter and you might find the things like the spicy chicken, spicy shrimp, Singapore rice noodles or chow foon could win you over. Oh, spicy green beans are great also. They still serve bone in spare ribs that are tasty also. They are economical, tasty, and attentive. A few years ago this wouldn't have been a 1 star. We would stop in every now and then for some drinks and dinner at the bar.. Stopped in, sat at the bar and ordered a mai tai.. they used to be pretty good! This was ALL booze and god knows what mix. I couldn't drink it.. there was a certain smell to the bar, rodent? Food? Both deceased ... A few of the regulars that have been seen over the years were non-existent. Was just looking forward to a nice night with good food and drinks, but I honestly think they could care less.
