Recently I've been super busy at work, so I kind of dropped the ball on scheduling at one of my usual spots, so I decided to give Nola's a try. The basic facial is $75, and it lasts about 70 minutes. For an extra $10, you can add on a peel. They're closed on Monday and Sunday. Scheduling was pretty easy. I called and left a message, and was called back within 24 hours, and they scheduled an appointment without demanding a credit card. Cool! Once you walk in, it's hard to believe you're only a few steps from the hustle and bustle of Grand Ave. The treatment rooms are on the small side, but they're nicely decorated with drapey fabric. I forgot to get the name of my facialist, but she was VERY MELLOW. They do NOT push product like some other places. Everything they used smelled really good. It was so soothing she thought I had fallen asleep. Now here's why they only get 4 stars. I got extractions - part of why I get facials, I want a professional to squeeze the gunk out. Well, I think she left the peel on some of the extracted areas too long. I generally have some puffiness or redness immediately after a facial, but within a few days I am glowing and happy. This time I ended up with one little spot that just can't be covered by makeup. I am praying that it resolves itself before picture time. I will revise my review after a few more days of recovery. I will probably go back here, because the overall experience was great. I ran into a friend about 30 minutes later, and she couldn't tell I had just gotten a facial, which was cool. The prices for waxing are within the range of other nice places in the Bay, but more expensive than the back room of a nail shop.

I had to keep asking her to re-file my nails because some were visibly longer than others. I rarely nitpick at nail salons, but it was that noticeable that I had to keep saying something. She also kept getting distracted while using the drimmel and took out whole chunks of the dip powder, causing my nails to look bumpy. 3) The woman also poured alcohol on one of the drimmel tips in front of me, which made me think that she did not sanitize any of her tools prior to seeing me. I didn't realize until it was too late what she was doing because she did it under the table, and she had already used other tools on my hands at that point. 4) The overall atmosphere was incredibly chaotic - and not just from there being several clients in the salon. The owner's daughter came in to help with front desk and she kept messing with the music. Additionally the owner kept yelling at her to do things. There was just so much noise and disruption going on that I could not fully enjoy my visit. I was treating myself after a long week of work, and I just left this salon feeling more stressed than before. I hate giving small businesses poor reviews, but I really did not enjoy my time here and would not recommend to anyone.

I was provided a brush and shampoo to keep them tidy as well as after care instructions. I recommend Tiffany to any woman looking for a good natured makeup artist. She uses a finer/soft lash which aren't plasticky or shiny looking & people have commented how natural my lashes look. My brows grow in more of a straight line & are not full so it was impossible to have any type of arch to them without being too thin. She was able to create a natural shape & I love them! The ink faded (it is supposed to) into the perfect color and you can't even tell where I naturally grow hair and where she applied the brush strokes. Besides the fact that she does a great job she has always been flexible when I've had to move my appointment times and very friendly :)
