Keep in mind that it is a tourist town with tourist prices and you will have the right expectations. We stopped in on a downtown stroll. It was a colder week, so we weren't necessarily expecting to get anything, but even us guys were impressed by all they had to offer. Tons of swimsuits, hats, shoes, bags and more. It was all neatly displayed and organized. The owner was also there and available for questions. We didn't end up purchasing anything but it was our top option if we did. I overall found the prices to be rather steep, like a beach bag for over a hundred dollars. It was all quality, however, so I suppose it just depends on what you are looking for and what your needs are. For a shop near the beach, they offer a lot.

Billabong is banking on their name recognition and the tourists. So don't get trapped. It's nice stuff to look at and they get an A+ for presentation but that doesn't open local people's wallets.

Unfortunately, they didn't have my size, but the friendly and helpful clerk clued me into their sister store, Big Kahuna, which had some sale Vionics available! I quickly walked next door! They had a wall full of sandals, including my favorite Vionics to choose from. I quickly picked out any sale sandals in my size, tried them on, and purchased two pair! New Vionics usually run about $89, but I paid $45 and $65 for my two pair! Rest assured, I will make it a point to visit Big Kahuna every time I'm in Capitola!

Apparently he is from the east coast he said and he really had that spirit of hospitality. This is exactly why I find good old fashioned brick and mortar shops to really hand select items these days despite the instant gratification of online ordering.

I went into the Rip curl store on 41st Ave. and I was immediately blown away with the helpful attitudes of the staff. Keenan I hope I am spelling his name correctly did an incredible job. He got my phone number and said he would talk to the regional manager and get back to me. I received a call that afternoon. He said to come down and they would take care of me. I went today and Keenan did just as he said he would. I am so impressed with his customer service skills and his attention to detail as well as his eagerness to want to make a situation right. Those are all things that any employer would want to have and an employee and Rip curl is very lucky to have Keenan on their staff. Now I am so excited that I can buy the wetsuit I need to get out in the ocean and paddleboard! I had an incredibly disappointing experience at Xandra's Swimwear. I walked in, excited to find a new swimsuit, but instead, I was met with blatant racial profiling and a shocking lack of professionalism. From the moment I entered, it was clear that the staff was suspicious of me simply because of my ethnicity. I was followed around the store in a manner that felt more like surveillance than customer service. Despite my attempts to engage with the staff and ask for assistance, I was met with cold indifference and outright hostility. Things took a turn for the worse when, without any provocation or cause, the store manager called the police on me. This was not only unwarranted but deeply unsettling. The officers arrived and, after a brief and awkward conversation, confirmed that there was no reason for their presence. It was an incredibly humiliating experience that left me feeling violated and dehumanized. What's even more distressing is that this seems to be a pattern of behavior rather than an isolated incident. I've heard similar stories from others who have faced discrimination at this store. It's clear that Xandra needs to address its serious issues with racial bias and staff training. I will never shop here again and would strongly advise others to avoid this store if you value respectful and equitable treatment. No one should have to endure such a degrading experience just for trying to purchase swimwear. read more

I just had the best experiencing shopping for a swimsuit at Xandra. Not only is there a vast selection of colors, sizes, and styles, Maddie was incredibly helpful in helping me find the perfect bathing suit. Her sweet, bubbly energy made the process not only bearable but enjoyable, which I really didn't think was possible when doing something like swimsuit shopping (ladies, I think you know what I'm talking about). She gave such helpful feedback, and any time a piece wasn't quite right she'd quickly bring me a different size or fit. She and another helpful saleswoman Holly also helped me find this gorgeous sarong that goes perfectly with my swimsuit! I only wish I had come here sooner! I cannot say enough good things about my experience at Xandra Swimwear, all thanks to Jen! I walked in looking for a bikini and ended up leaving with a fabulous haul that included not just multiple bikinis, but also a stunning one-piece and the most gorgeous teal linen matching set. Seriously, it's a must-have for every beach trip! Jen's expertise and eye for style made the whole process so enjoyable. My sisters and I walked into Xandra's and were instantly greeted with amazing service and adorable clothes. I had picked out some swim suits and pants that I liked and an employee named Destiny brought me many other options based on what I chose and I loved them all! We came back the very next day with our mom and had another positive and fun experience with Destiny and the rest of the employees. I've been in this shop a few times, but I was really sad when it closed, especially because the staff would be really helpful suggesting products and helping me find the correct sizes and such. Luckily, one of the employees, Ella was super helpful and helped me find some cool socks as a present for my sister for Easter. I recently visited both Capitola and Carmel locations. I was amazed by the beautiful selection of products they were offering!
