I had never hired a cat sitter before Xander, but having decided not to be a bother to my friends to cat sit for me when I am out of town, I looked around for someone to take care of my two cats. Xander was highly recommended by someone I completely trust and I have not been disappointed. Xander has been cat sitting for me for almost 2 years now and he is simply amazing. Before hiring Xander, I would do short 2 day trips leaving my cats alone with plenty of food, but I would always return and the cats would completely misbehave. After Xander, the cats are well-behaved when we return (as if we had never left). Aside from feeding and playing/caring for my cats, Xander goes above and beyond by making sure FedEx packages and mail make their way inside the house. A few times I've had to travel on trash pickup days and Xander has brought in the trash cans from the street to my driveway. Xander was very patient with us - thank you Xander! I hired him to visit our robo dwarf hamsters for weeks. These type of hamsters are normally nocturnal, and are very afraid of humans - a stranger cannot just pet them. Xander did a great job caring for our cat while we were away. Our cat is 18 years old with a lot of medical issues. She takes several meds and has a really fussy routine. Xander handled all of that very well. We were out of the country and worried about things, but Xander kept us updated and assured us that all was going well. We hired Xander based off the yelp reviews. I have to say that all the five star reviews are warranted. Xander took care of our kiddos for a week and upon meeting him we knew he was right for the job. Your animals know when someone is a good person and our little scared Jaxson proved that. When Xander came by to do the run through, Jaxson didn't hide. This is very rare for him! He doesn't like anyone but us. We got daily photos of our monsters which was very comforting. We we're going on vacation for 3 weeks and didn't want to board our cat again (the look of betrayal upon picking him up after just 4 days was too much the last time), so we began the search for a sitter. After meeting two other sitters, Xander came over and immediately began playing with Sarutobi, our cat, who took an interest in Xander almost immediately. Our cat was recovering from a recent surgery and needed to be played with, so Xander's calm demeanor and instinct to play with our cat was perfect. We had him come by 2x a day ($30/day) for feedings, box cleaning, and 30min of play. Every day he sent us photos and updates which put us at ease and let us enjoy our vacation. Xander risked his life by taking care of my hell cats. I have three cats that have their own individual "special" needs. Tiggy must have attention 100% of the time. When he's not meowing for attention or food, he is tearing up the rug or knocking things down off of shelves or pooping in the bathtub. Emu IS an angel, except she gets influenced by Tiggy to fight Ranger Drooly. Ranger Drooly is a very shy black cat who often mistakes shoes and hoodies for the letterbox. Xander has helped me out in a very difficult time! Thank you, Xander! I called Xander, based on Yelp's many raves about him. I'm going on vacation day after tomorrow, and we'd scheduled cat sitting for this weekend. Then -- aieeeee, weep ---my cat had to go to the vet yesterday and today we found out she had severe illnesses, including lymph cancer, so I had to have HER euthanized today! I lost two cats inside of a week! Last week, one of my cats, who was 16 and had chronic health problems, collapsed and had to be euthanized. Due to my cat's (this week) vet emergency, I had to stay in touch with Xander about whether to come or not come cat sit. I didn't even know what was going to happen with the vet's tests. At the last possible minute, late this afternoon, the vet called with the bad news. I immediately called and left a message with Xander, thanking him for holding my place for this weekend, and told him I would be sending him a check for $25 for his patience and flexibility. He returned my call, and was very compassionate about the death of my dear cats, and said I don't need to send him a check. I wish he'd accept the $25, though. I'll be sure and call Xander if I go on vacation in the future, as I plan to get two new kitties. read more
