Years ago I was on vacation when my cat jumped out of a four story window. The pet sitter called in a panic to tell me that the cat was missing and there was a big hole in the screen. She hadn't bothered to check and see if he was dead or missing. I've had mild anxiety over leaving my pets with sitters (in the next five states) ever since, and finding a good, professional pet sitter is a priority.
Lori (the owner/sitter) of BarkMeow is wonderful. She's been watching our pets (now two dogs, AND the cat who jumped out of the window and made it!) for over two years. Conscientious, considerate, licensed and bonded, and just a great person. Lori asks the questions that you forget are issues, and is willing to put up with my a. dirty house when I haven't had time to clean, b. geriatric cat who screams at night, and c. ongoing anxiety to sooth an occasional check in when we're gone for a while.
Sooo beats a kennel. She prefers working in SE, I'm not sure if she'll venture too far out but BarkMeow is very much worth a check, even if you aren't in the hood.
