Requirement to rent locker SUCKS balls!!! My love for this ride goes back to when it was just X, now my 13yo daughter loves it just as much. It was one of the major reasons I invested in our memberships & we drive 80+ miles to ride it a couple times a year. BUT....All the necessary extra expenses paid while in the park for hydration ($5+ water & several needed since there is very little shade, ZERO water misters, NO cooling stations) are annoying but we bare it without complaint. Until now... On our most recent visit 8/16/19. X2 was closed for most of the day (as usual lately) but to our surprise was opened again shortly before closing. We noticed from the top of Viper's lift. So we speedwalked over immediately from disembarking. Waited 20+ minutes with the sun directly beaming on us. ( Really, Six flags? Plant a shade tree, install more tarps or bring back misters on queue. Just something. Pretty please!!!) Only to be denied access unless we rent lockers for backpacks. Well, we could ride but seperately while the other waits to watch our belongings. THIS IS RIDICULOUS. To be honest, we do normally ignore this and just drop our backpacks in a corner or place on top of lockers but found on this trip that Six Flags had an employee stationed there for no reason other than to enforce this extra expense. I find this repulsive that I'm being extorted to give more money to ride this ride. I don't care that it's only $1 a ride (small lockers tho. So, each backpack would need its own). The park is obviously making a good profit from these lockers. Otherwise you would not protect it by paying hourly wages to ENFORCE their usage. Although, I'm the opposite of happy about this policy I would have paid it rather than miss the opportunity to ride X2 but don't bring cards to the park to avoid loss/thief. ( You guys really should offer option to link debit/credit cards to pass cards. I mean com'on, it's 2019 already!). I did explain this to the employee hoping that she would let me slide this time. But of course not. Afterall, mom and her 13yo could just ride separately. Problem solved (insert eyerolling and sarcasm here). To sum up: I pay $400+ a year (on 2nd year now) to be denied the enjoyment of my puchase unless I pay $2 more!! This totally drops the stars for X2 and Magic Mountain in general for me. read more

I normally would not review a ride on Yelp but there's a huge exception to be made in this case- X2- it's exhilarating, wondrous, breathtaking, adrenaline tantalizing- amazement. As of 2013, X2 still holds it down as being the best ride at six flags, and there's not much else that comes close in comparison. It's a rush, it's fast, it's versatile in how it not only flips you on the ride but also on your own little seat- that flips too, so your flipping a midst flipping- I mean... this is just madness it hurts my brain just trying to figure out why it's so great. I really really want to give it 5 stars HOWEVER- it BREAKS DOWN OFTEN. X2 is the best experience when everything is fully functioning correctly- meaning the fire blows out at you and the Frank Sinatra tune starts you off. Ride at night ;) read more

An alright ride. The line wasn't too bad for me, about 35 min. I rode on a Saturday evening, that's probably why. The onboard audio rarely works anymore, but the flames do. Your neck will be thrown around a lot, be prepared for whiplash. Overall intense ride experience, and I probably will not ride it again. read more

I would leave a 5 of it weren't for the HORRIBLE wiplash at the end of the ride! I literally just got off it about 15 minutes ago and I still can't bring myself to stand up cause my damn head hurts and I'm getting a migraine. I LOVE roller coasters and I enjoy scary rides but this one is definitely getting scratched off my list. I would rather ride Gold Rush which is a pretty mediocre ride than this. At least my head won't get bobbled around as if I'm tumbling loosely in a car accident hahaha. Kept my head back on the head rest the entire time too. Or at least tried to... come on Six Flags. Add some whoppie cushions to your seat head bumpers. God I feed like sh*t. read more

1.28.12 Simply AMAZING!!! Seats turn you into ever drop, allowing you to gaze into ground as you descend at amazing speeds. Nothing in California compares to X2, hence the 2 hour long lines right after park opening. First drop, absolutely................................... breath taking. The first time I've actually felt a little scared going on a rollercoaster. The angle of drop is 88.8 degrees, almost like a free fall. Every subsequent drop afterwards, still breath taking. This ride is just too freaking awesome! read more

Hands down, the best ride Magic Mountain has to offer. X2 is one of the new age rides, where speed is not the only thing they give you. Free fall is the name of the game and you get your dose of free fall here. The seating style is a new one. You are in a leaning back seating position. As you go through the ride, you rotate 360 degrees forward and backwards depending on which way you are heading. Usually, they have fire shooting out, but when I rode it, no fire. I waited in line for 3 hours for this ride, but it was worth it. read more

Best ride ever! It has music blasting in your ear which makes it even that more intense. Your going through a roller coaster but your seat is also rotating backwards and forwards at the same time! This was just mind blowing! You have to try this it is totally worth the wait! read more

Oh. Em. Geee. So worth the wait in line. Adrenaline at its finest. Don't forget to grab some water or a drink prior to getting in line. They do offer drinks at a vending machine throughout the line but it's almost $5 for a Gatorade/water. Come prepared and enjoy the thrill! read more

MY FAVORITE RIDE! This is not your traditional scary roller coaster. You're laying down, faced up, AND going backwards. What more can you ask for?! Hahahaha! I went on a Sunday morning and this ride had a 90min wait. Considering this to be my first time here, I was willing to wait. After almost an hour waiting... they announced that the ride was having some "technical difficulties" and advised people that it might take a while so you can wait or go on another ride. Looooool! I was not about to give up. I had already been there for almost an hour an a half. I wasn't about to give up and that would have been all for nothing. SO We waited an extra 30 mins HAHAHAHAHA and they fixed whatever they needed to fix and THEN finally got on. I'd like to say it was worth it. I've never been on a coaster like this. It was so cool. I loved the way the seats would rotate when your going upside down, or down an incline. Like it's scary but so fun! Hahahaha Definitely will be back :) read more

Terrible. Smashed back of head onto seat along w my girlfriend and everyone else it seems who were holding back of their heads after ride. Unsure if that happens each ride or was an anomaly. read more

The idea is fun but there's too much forward and back whiplash. You have to figure out what to do with your legs because my calves got beat up at the end. I wouldn't go again to be honest read more

Scariest thing ever ever. Best description of how it feels is that it feels like you accidentally got strapped to a rocket ship and fired off into outer space. Thought, "this may actually be the day I die". Glad I did it... more glad it's over. There's a huge banner at the loading dock that reads "Closing your eyes won't make it go away. It's TRUE. ***Six Flags Magic Mountain's X2 roller coaster is a unique and thrilling ride; while it is not incredibly fast and the drops are not that big, the 360 degrees rotating seats provided unique thrills that you cannot get with other roller coasters (thrills like riding along face down; the closest feeling you can probably get to being dropped from a roller coaster)*** X2 is a very thrilling roller coaster at Six Flags Magic Mountain. I really liked Deja Vu. I think that one is closed now. And though I haven't ridden Deja Vu in a long time, I may like X2 even more. X2 is a roller coaster, but you do not sit on a traditional seat. Instead, you are on rotating seats that spin during the ride. This leads to some thrilling moments like an early one where the seats flip over and you coast along face down (the closest feeling you can probably get to being dropped from a roller coaster). The ride is filled with many more thrilling and unique sensations (and because of this, the ride can be a tad nauseating though not as nauseating as some of their other rides like the flying one). Loops and curves do not feel the same on this ride, which makes it a lot of fun. The ride is not incredibly fast and the drops are not super big, but X2 is unlike most roller coasters out there, which makes it my current favorite ride at Six Flags Magic Mountain. Parking at Six Flags Magic Mountain is $15 per day. read more

Located at Magic Mountain. X2 is a one of its kind ride. Though now a little long in the tooth, no other park in the world has built a similar ride Essentially most resembling a suspended coaster, X2 has the added element of the fact that the seats will also turn in a 360 arc heads over heels with the exact orientation of the seats at any point of the track being controlled by an additional track running alongside the guide rails The added thrill comes from not always facing 'forwards' as the train travels down the track. You could be plunging down a drop but be facing 'backwards' looking at the sky, for example. This complicated arrangement means that you unusually load onto the ride on seats which are like armchairs facing the ceiling and you're travelling backwards as the train exits the station I've enjoyed rides on X2 (and X before the rename) on previous visits to Magic Mountain but on my most recent visit this summer, my legs got a good battering as I was flung around the ride. There are no leg restraints despite there being a good harness for the rest of the body The complicated harness system make X2 a slow ride to load and there are frequent technical difficulties due to the extra rail guidance system. These 2 factors make queues quite long at this ride. Having said that, I always ride X2 when I'm at Magic Mountain as it's unique read more

If you must wait 5 hours in line for this ride then you must wait. If this is the only ride that you get to get on because you had to wait 5 hours to get on it... it must be the only ride you get on. Or you can go on a weekday and wait like 1 hour. I remember the first time that I rode it. I seriously thought I was going to slip out of the seat. The damn ride goes up side down and twists while its upside down! This is the scariest ride I have ever been on in my life. read more

It's the most scary thing I've done in my life. It made me fart. Also I thought I was going to die. But do it anyways. Pretty view.

There are 2 "types" of people who dwell in this American Civilization in which we live.... ...TYPE A : does Not like the X2 experience TYPE X : absolutely LOVES the X2 experience. Thinks its brilliant. BEST RIDE EVER I AM A TYPE X read more

I remember going to X the original ride, when I was 9 years old. Then, they rename it to X2 the ride, when they reopened in 2008. Also, that's one of our favorite thrill rides, like ninja, Goliath, twisted colossus, Batman the ride, tidal waves, riddler's revenge, apocalypse the ride, viper, Superman: Escape from Krypton, Lex Luthor: drop of doom, scream, roaring rapids, sky tower, and tatsu. read more

I rode the original X1 and thought it was evolutionary. This was back when I was in high school. Coming back at 30, the ride now as X2 still blows my mind and is still #1 on my list. Truthfully I could only tell the music they added, but I'm sure all the mechanical changes to the cars themselves is a engineering marvel that makes this ride stand out. read more

Best ride in the park!!!! If you plan on going on this ride first, expect the rest of the rides in the Park to be disappointing. That's how good this ride is. Your seats are on poles connected to the roller coaster cart...the poles allow you to rotate while going through the normal drops and loops of the roller coaster. Since there is no cart around you, it give you the sensation of tumbling through the air. You will hit some pretty good G's in this ride, but from what my friend told me...the front seat is the best seat the in house. Have to ride if you are a roller coaster enthusiast. read more

First ride of the day on my first trip to Six Flags. The wait was about 45 minutes. I wanted to gripe, since it was 10:37 AM and I felt like I was sitting inside a 400 degree oven. I didn't know how I was going to make it through the rest of the day. But my brother and bf were so excited at how "short" the line was, their enthusiasm completely squelched my grumpy mood. And I proceeded to scream throughout the entire ride. The car keys fell out of the bf's pocket during the ride, even though he had buttoned it. I guess it's a good thing I brought the spare keys with me! read more

This review isn't for the ride itself, but rather for the incompetence of some of the employees. I strapped into the X2 seat and thought I was secure, but throughout the entire ride the lower half of my body was flailing around like a rag doll. I was getting good air time and thought it was all part of the ride until my left leg swung out and over the leg divider between my thighs and into the right side. At that point, both legs were sitting on the right of my seat. This happened two times and I knew immediately that something was wrong. When I exited the ride, I explained what happened to my friends who'd been on X2 before and they told me the shoulder restraint wasn't pushed down all the way. My friend who wasn't on the ride yet snapped a picture of us before leaving and it's extremely obvious my shoulder restraint was too high. The employee checking the seats should have pushed the shoulder restraint down as far as possible to make sure I was pinned down. I believe she nearly cost me my life because she was too lazy to check this item off her list. read more

Sprinted uphill at opening (haven't run in years might i add) just to get on this ride first. Can confirm it was very much worth the sweat and tears. Going up backwards makes it insane. Not to mention the extreme g forces that make it hard to breathe. Excellent experience. Recommend for all those that aren't lame read more

Fantastic coaster, scary as crap! Which makes it pretty darn awesome. Highly recommend it for those thrill seekers. read more

What can I say, this ride was definitely the scariest I've ever been on. It was the first coaster we rode as soon as we got to the park (we waited around 30 mins) not bad. The whole time I was on the ride I couldn't get myself to open my eyes except for a brief 5 seconds and that was it. It was definitely a fun, crazy and scary ride. Maybe because it was the first one we went for but after that X2 made all the other rides seem puny, Goliaths drop..didn't even feel it. read more

This ride make me cream in my panties. Okay, actually the first time I rode it I thought I was gonna Die! It was terrifying that I actually closed my eyes for a few seconds. What my brain was processing was just too much to fathom. Second time around, I kept my eyes open the whole time and enjoyed it even more. The wait time sucks if you don't have a speed pass, so purchase one. It's totally worth it. *kiss!* read more

X2 getting five stars is a no-brainer. It's the world's first 4D coaster, and although the newer one in Japan might arguably be better, the "X2" upgrades have dramatically improved this beast of a ride. First of all, I must say that I love the paint scheme over the older one. It's a mean shade of red with an ominous gray support structure versus the old pink track and yellow supports. Of course, the trains are much improved. The harnesses are more comfortable. The cars now feature speakers that play a music soundtrack that really gets your juices pumping as you go up the lift hill. But more importantly, the improved trains seem to help the ride not break down as much. That's something we can all appreciate. As for the ride itself, you should just experience it for yourself. There really is nothing on Earth quite like it. Everything from the skydive to the raven turns is just so unique. Yes, this ride typically has the longest lines in the park. Is the wait worth it? Do yourself a favor and go during the off season like I do. read more

My second favorite ride at Magic Mountain! Though the backwards feature was cool, I preferred going forward to see the obstacles scaring the crap out of every one. =^) Especially when the fire bursts almost incinerating your arm hairs, if you have any. Only negative part of this ride was the 2 hour wait on the weekends. But it was kinda sorta worth it so I gave it 5 estrellitas!!! read more

If u want to crap your pants, this is the ride for you. This is the best thrill ride around. It is nit for the faint of heart and since i am nearing 40 yo, i have no business riding this thing. i am basing my star rating on what i've been told...and i'm sure that it wont change once i finally get to ride X2.... thanksgiving trip...3 1/2 hour wait...hell no! xmas trip...closed due to high winds and near freezing temperatures =( booo.... going back next month...will try to ride it again. read more

There was a long line and uncomfortable seat for the ride. The start of the ride was awesome and I enjoyed it until my head was slammed back hard enough to see stars. Ouch. My daughter had her head pitched forward slamming her nose on the seat and then back for a double whammy. Poor kid. It seems it your seat is fit well you should have a fun ride but Tatsu and Full throttle were much more fun for us. read more

X2 from a distant looks very intense. Even when you finally get on the ride the intensity is through the roof! The reason for 3 stars is because I felt that this ride did not live up to the intensity level it precieve to have. Honestly the most intense part is going up the 200+ incline backwards and the first drop. Which is most of the ride lol. The negative thing about x2 has to be the short ass ride. The whole experience is over before you know it. The music was not playing when I rode the ride. The second half of x2 is a bit dull. The inversion you encounter towards the end of the ride that flips your seat completly was very rough on my body. Arrow dynamics could of made this ride a bit smoother its too rough. X2 is a good ride however this is not the best rollercoaster in the park. That title goes to golaith. Airtime is much more better to me than inversions. read more

Officially Mind F*ck!!!! I have never been to Six Flags so yesterday was my very first day. We saved X2 for our last ride. We were lucky enough to go on a day where we just walked up to the ride and got on. Keep in mind that Knotts Berry Farm is the most extreme coasters I've been on... As we were waiting for the next train to come in I was reading the banners they had above the ride. I can't remember word for word but it mentioned about sensory deprivation and how closing you're eyes won't help. I laughed it off. So I got on. Make sure you pull the harness down low enough so when you close your chest part it's in the proper location. I made the mistake of closing the chest part to high but was still able to bring it down. Don't worry you'll see what I'm talking about. The seat then tilts back like a giant recliner and you take off. As you're climbing you're trying to figure out how this ride works. Soon enough you hit the first drop and the chair rotates so you're facing towards the ground. Then each turn or each drop the chair would change position. It was hard to set yourself up the next turn or the drop because of the constant rotation of the chairs. The next thing you know there is a fire ball and then the ride is finish. I can't describe the entire ride because I honestly didn't know what happened. The ride was amazing! I never get scared on roller coasters but X2 did it for me. It was the first time were I was like WTF happened and holy sh*t did I sh*t my pants. If you're a coaster fan this one is hands down the best one I have ridden in SoCal. There is absolutely no other coaster out there can even come close. Six Flags, you gave me a reason to make a trip back out there! read more

I'm a mild coaster enthusiast. I have probably ridden around 100 different rollercoasters. I've never experienced anything like this. It completely took me by surprise. It wasn't that I didn't know what it was. I knew exactly what it was, I just didn't expect what it FELT like. I was in shock. After the ride finished, I looked over at my girlfriend, and she was borderline catatonic. And I think she was a little mad at me for bringing her on (even though riding it was her idea). I asked her if she was ok, and she mumbled something unintelligible. Later, she said she needed some time to process what just happened. Eventually, she said that she loved it, but that she would need some time before riding it again. This ride is absolutely intense. There is nothing like it. Oh, and clear your pockets as much as possible. I think half my anxiety about the ride came from the fear of things falling out of my pockets (nothing did, but it would've been nice to have a more focused mind). read more

Yes!!!!! Best roller coaster ever! After years and years of hopping around Knotts and Six Flags, the common roller coaster really does nothing for me. I don't get nearly the same thrill as I did 5 years ago. But X2 helped me to relive that, "Holy shit I'm gonna die oh my god!" feeling. The adrenaline rush during and after was so amazing, it lasted for at least 5 mins, and then tapered off, lasting about 10-15 mins total. It was worth the wait, and I'm so glad I made it my last ride at Six Flags. PS. Great at night. read more
