I normally would not review a ride on Yelp but there's a huge exception to be made in this case- X2- it's exhilarating, wondrous, breathtaking, adrenaline tantalizing- amazement. As of 2013, X2 still holds it down as being the best ride at six flags, and there's not much else that comes close in comparison. It's a rush, it's fast, it's versatile in how it not only flips you on the ride but also on your own little seat- that flips too, so your flipping a midst flipping- I mean... this is just madness it hurts my brain just trying to figure out why it's so great. I really really want to give it 5 stars HOWEVER- it BREAKS DOWN OFTEN. X2 is the best experience when everything is fully functioning correctly- meaning the fire blows out at you and the Frank Sinatra tune starts you off. Ride at night ;) read more

I would leave a 5 of it weren't for the HORRIBLE wiplash at the end of the ride! I literally just got off it about 15 minutes ago and I still can't bring myself to stand up cause my damn head hurts and I'm getting a migraine. I LOVE roller coasters and I enjoy scary rides but this one is definitely getting scratched off my list. I would rather ride Gold Rush which is a pretty mediocre ride than this. 1.28.12 Simply AMAZING!!! Seats turn you into ever drop, allowing you to gaze into ground as you descend at amazing speeds. Nothing in California compares to X2, hence the 2 hour long lines right after park opening. First drop, absolutely................................... breath taking. The first time I've actually felt a little scared going on a rollercoaster. The angle of drop is 88.8 degrees, almost like a free fall. Every subsequent drop afterwards, still breath taking. Hands down, the best ride Magic Mountain has to offer. X2 is one of the new age rides, where speed is not the only thing they give you. Free fall is the name of the game and you get your dose of free fall here. The seating style is a new one. You are in a leaning back seating position. As you go through the ride, you rotate 360 degrees forward and backwards depending on which way you are heading. Usually, they have fire shooting out, but when I rode it, no fire. MY FAVORITE RIDE! This is not your traditional scary roller coaster. You're laying down, faced up, AND going backwards. What more can you ask for?! Hahahaha! I went on a Sunday morning and this ride had a 90min wait. Considering this to be my first time here, I was willing to wait. After almost an hour waiting... they announced that the ride was having some "technical difficulties" and advised people that it might take a while so you can wait or go on another ride. Looooool! I was not about to give up. I had already been there for almost an hour an a half. I wasn't about to give up and that would have been all for nothing. SO We waited an extra 30 mins HAHAHAHAHA and they fixed whatever they needed to fix and THEN finally got on. I'd like to say it was worth it. I've never been on a coaster like this. It was so cool. I loved the way the seats would rotate when your going upside down, or down an incline. Like it's scary but so fun! Hahahaha Definitely will be back :) read more

You could be plunging down a drop but be facing 'backwards' looking at the sky, for example. This complicated arrangement means that you unusually load onto the ride on seats which are like armchairs facing the ceiling and you're travelling backwards as the train exits the station I've enjoyed rides on X2 (and X before the rename) on previous visits to Magic Mountain but on my most recent visit this summer, my legs got a good battering as I was flung around the ride. There are no leg restraints despite there being a good harness for the rest of the body The complicated harness system make X2 a slow ride to load and there are frequent technical difficulties due to the extra rail guidance system. Best ride in the park!!!! If you plan on going on this ride first, expect the rest of the rides in the Park to be disappointing. That's how good this ride is. Your seats are on poles connected to the roller coaster cart...the poles allow you to rotate while going through the normal drops and loops of the roller coaster. Since there is no cart around you, it give you the sensation of tumbling through the air. You will hit some pretty good G's in this ride, but from what my friend told me...the front seat is the best seat the in house. Have to ride if you are a roller coaster enthusiast. read more

First ride of the day on my first trip to Six Flags. The wait was about 45 minutes. I wanted to gripe, since it was 10:37 AM and I felt like I was sitting inside a 400 degree oven. I didn't know how I was going to make it through the rest of the day. But my brother and bf were so excited at how "short" the line was, their enthusiasm completely squelched my grumpy mood. And I proceeded to scream throughout the entire ride. The car keys fell out of the bf's pocket during the ride, even though he had buttoned it. I guess it's a good thing I brought the spare keys with me! read more

This review isn't for the ride itself, but rather for the incompetence of some of the employees. I strapped into the X2 seat and thought I was secure, but throughout the entire ride the lower half of my body was flailing around like a rag doll. I was getting good air time and thought it was all part of the ride until my left leg swung out and over the leg divider between my thighs and into the right side. At that point, both legs were sitting on the right of my seat. This happened two times and I knew immediately that something was wrong. When I exited the ride, I explained what happened to my friends who'd been on X2 before and they told me the shoulder restraint wasn't pushed down all the way. My friend who wasn't on the ride yet snapped a picture of us before leaving and it's extremely obvious my shoulder restraint was too high. The employee checking the seats should have pushed the shoulder restraint down as far as possible to make sure I was pinned down. I believe she nearly cost me my life because she was too lazy to check this item off her list. read more

What can I say, this ride was definitely the scariest I've ever been on. It was the first coaster we rode as soon as we got to the park (we waited around 30 mins) not bad. The whole time I was on the ride I couldn't get myself to open my eyes except for a brief 5 seconds and that was it. It was definitely a fun, crazy and scary ride. X2 getting five stars is a no-brainer. It's the world's first 4D coaster, and although the newer one in Japan might arguably be better, the "X2" upgrades have dramatically improved this beast of a ride. First of all, I must say that I love the paint scheme over the older one. It's a mean shade of red with an ominous gray support structure versus the old pink track and yellow supports. Of course, the trains are much improved. The harnesses are more comfortable. The cars now feature speakers that play a music soundtrack that really gets your juices pumping as you go up the lift hill. But more importantly, the improved trains seem to help the ride not break down as much. That's something we can all appreciate. As for the ride itself, you should just experience it for yourself. There really is nothing on Earth quite like it. Everything from the skydive to the raven turns is just so unique. Yes, this ride typically has the longest lines in the park. Is the wait worth it? Do yourself a favor and go during the off season like I do. read more

Though the backwards feature was cool, I preferred going forward to see the obstacles scaring the crap out of every one. =^) Especially when the fire bursts almost incinerating your arm hairs, if you have any. There was a long line and uncomfortable seat for the ride. The start of the ride was awesome and I enjoyed it until my head was slammed back hard enough to see stars. Ouch. My daughter had her head pitched forward slamming her nose on the seat and then back for a double whammy. Poor kid. X2 from a distant looks very intense. Even when you finally get on the ride the intensity is through the roof! The reason for 3 stars is because I felt that this ride did not live up to the intensity level it precieve to have. Honestly the most intense part is going up the 200+ incline backwards and the first drop. Which is most of the ride lol. The negative thing about x2 has to be the short ass ride. The whole experience is over before you know it. The music was not playing when I rode the ride. The second half of x2 is a bit dull. The inversion you encounter towards the end of the ride that flips your seat completly was very rough on my body. Arrow dynamics could of made this ride a bit smoother its too rough. X2 is a good ride however this is not the best rollercoaster in the park. That title goes to golaith. Airtime is much more better to me than inversions. read more

Officially Mind F*ck!!!! I have never been to Six Flags so yesterday was my very first day. We saved X2 for our last ride. We were lucky enough to go on a day where we just walked up to the ride and got on. Keep in mind that Knotts Berry Farm is the most extreme coasters I've been on... As we were waiting for the next train to come in I was reading the banners they had above the ride. I can't remember word for word but it mentioned about sensory deprivation and how closing you're eyes won't help. I laughed it off. So I got on. Make sure you pull the harness down low enough so when you close your chest part it's in the proper location. I made the mistake of closing the chest part to high but was still able to bring it down. Don't worry you'll see what I'm talking about. The seat then tilts back like a giant recliner and you take off. As you're climbing you're trying to figure out how this ride works. Soon enough you hit the first drop and the chair rotates so you're facing towards the ground. Then each turn or each drop the chair would change position. It was hard to set yourself up the next turn or the drop because of the constant rotation of the chairs. The next thing you know there is a fire ball and then the ride is finish. I can't describe the entire ride because I honestly didn't know what happened. The ride was amazing! I never get scared on roller coasters but X2 did it for me. It was the first time were I was like WTF happened and holy sh*t did I sh*t my pants. If you're a coaster fan this one is hands down the best one I have ridden in SoCal. There is absolutely no other coaster out there can even come close. Six Flags, you gave me a reason to make a trip back out there! read more

I'm a mild coaster enthusiast. I have probably ridden around 100 different rollercoasters. I've never experienced anything like this. It completely took me by surprise. It wasn't that I didn't know what it was. I knew exactly what it was, I just didn't expect what it FELT like. I was in shock. After the ride finished, I looked over at my girlfriend, and she was borderline catatonic. And I think she was a little mad at me for bringing her on (even though riding it was her idea). I asked her if she was ok, and she mumbled something unintelligible. Later, she said she needed some time to process what just happened. Eventually, she said that she loved it, but that she would need some time before riding it again. This ride is absolutely intense. There is nothing like it. Oh, and clear your pockets as much as possible. I think half my anxiety about the ride came from the fear of things falling out of my pockets (nothing did, but it would've been nice to have a more focused mind). read more

Yes!!!!! Best roller coaster ever! After years and years of hopping around Knotts and Six Flags, the common roller coaster really does nothing for me. I don't get nearly the same thrill as I did 5 years ago. But X2 helped me to relive that, "Holy shit I'm gonna die oh my god!" feeling. The adrenaline rush during and after was so amazing, it lasted for at least 5 mins, and then tapered off, lasting about 10-15 mins total. It was worth the wait, and I'm so glad I made it my last ride at Six Flags. PS. Great at night. read more

This is my overall favorite ride. I rode the old and new version of this ride and I would say it is out of this world as you do many 360 flips. The ride has gotton rougher especially with the wind as well. One thing that is bad that is that this ride does break down quite a bit and takes around 20 to 30 minutes to fix. One thing to know if it is sunny and hot, ask to sit on the left side as the ride as you get the shade and that helps out a lot. The first drop is the coolest as you face and they you up in a loop which is awesome. The line does go by fast however and definitely worth the wait for 2 hours. It has gotton shaky over the years, however, but the music playing and the flames that is cool. read more

It was a toss up between X2 and Tatsu as my favorite ride at Six Flags. Went on each ride twice and decided that X2 was my absolute favorite. Such a crazy concept of beginning your ride as if you were in a recliner chair going up the track and randomly throughout. The rotating seats were an interesting twist to a normal looking roller coaster track. X2 definitely doesn't compare to any other of the regular roller coasters at the park.
