Everything about my experience at Cristal's Beauty Salon was unprofessional. To start, Cristal was…read morelate to the appointment. When she finally arrived, I asked to use the bathroom before we got started and she said the bathroom did not have any toilet paper. So, I had to use the bathroom without toilet paper. To my surprise, someone had already used the toilet, so I had to flush what they left behind. When it was time for me to select my braiding hair color, Cristal did not have the hair color I requested. I texted and called Cristal 2 weeks in advance to make sure she would have the color because I knew it was a popular fall color. When we spoke on the phone, she said she would have the color. However, she did not. I asked to reschedule because I'd rather just wait until she had the color. She told me I could go purchase the hair myself. This was strange to me because no one was in the shop. So, I didn't understand why she couldn't go out and purchase the hair herself. But in a bind, I agreed and went to purchase the pack of hair I wanted. When I came back, Cristal told me to hang up my coat and that she would be with me in a second. She was getting her hair done by someone else in the shop and I guess that was more important than my appointment that was supposed to start at 1:15pm and was delayed because she was late and did not have the hair she promised. I waited for her to finish getting her hair done then she started on me. When it was time to pay for my appointment, Cristal told me that she canceled my appointment that I made through StyleSeat so that I could pay another way. She did not ask me for permission to cancel this appointment. Instead, she cancelled it because she said she did not want to pay the fees that the app charges and preferred that I'd pay through Zelle or with cash. This was also something I was not made aware of until I the last minute. Luckily, I had a Zelle account. I was asked to pay the full price for my service, but this should not have been the case. StyleSeat was running a promotion where you get 15% off purchases at certain salons. Cristal's salon was one of these salons. I mentioned this to Cristal and showed her where on the site it says this but she still wanted me to pay full price. I told Cristal that if she hadn't cancelled my StyleSeat appointment, StyleSeat would have taken the money out of my account like I planned and given me the discount. The discount was the whole reason I visited this salon because I normally don't visit salons without a recommendation from someone. I sent Cristal the discounted price through Zelle and she wanted the full payment. She then said she would just have to "ask the app" about the rest of her payment. I was under the impression that she was going to contact StyleSeat about this. However, by the time I arrived home, I saw that she reopened the appointment that she canceled from StyleSeat and charged me for what she thinks should be the remaining balance. This let me know that she could've reopened the appointment on StyleSeat and just let me pay for my appointment from there like I wanted to in the first place. Then, I would've gotten my discount and this whole exchange wouldn't have had to happen. I was never apologized to for any of these inconveniences. Instead, I was met with constant "I didn't know"s for everything. She didn't know there wasn't toilet paper. She didn't know she was out of the hair color. She didn't know about the StyleSeat promotion. What she did know is how to take people's money without their permission by reopening an appointment she cancelled. This was such a disappointing experience. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
