Snip city is the best place to get your next haircut. Not only is Pasquale warm and welcoming, but you can see this trait passed on to the others this work in the Salon. At first I was a little anxious to get my hair- both me and my boyfriend suffer from anxiety so it's hard for us to communicate to others at times, but Pasquale made the hair cut so enjoyable that I could not stop talking!! I really didn't want to write this review because I did appreciate the hair dresser's kindness and welcoming personality...but I want to prevent anyone from going through the same experience. I was excited to go to Snip City for my first time for a much needed haircut. Yelp reviews encouraged me to see Kristin. I thought Kristin was very nice. I was happy to see that she was young and edgy so upon this first impression and other Yelp reviews, I trusted her expertise. In the end, I thought the cut was fitting for my face shape. BUT...if you do not want/ask for thinned hair and you see thinning shears taken out...RUN. I did not know what these shears were (prior to googling). She told me that they were to help the layers blend in, but a few months after my haircut, I'm still struggling with very thin and very damaged looking ends (as the overuse of the shears literally shred your ends making them appear dead). This was probably one of the worst haircut experiences I've ever had :( As much as I appreciated the friendly staff, I will not be returning. read more

Snip City is a wonderful place to get your hair done whether you are a man, woman or child they are accommodating, clean and the service is excellent. I have been going there for years and it is safe to say that I have "problem hair". My hair is very thin, with that kind of gray coming in that is actually silver and very hard to color. Paquale is my personal genius when it comes to hair styles and coloring, as well as tips and tricks that I can do at home to make myself look like I've just stepped out of a salon. He has NEVER steered me wrong. He has shown me the best ways to style my hair, which side my part should be on for my face, has recommended styles (as welll as set me straight when I wanted to do things with my hair that simply wouldn't have looked good). I love this place! Even the shampoos I have gotten there (complete with head massage) were incredible. They are terrific about scheduling you at your convenience and if you have friends that also go there they put us all in at the same time so we could hang out together (as well as provided a very friendly and warm atmosphere). Going to Snip City is like coming to visit family and friends. Even when I lived close to an hour away it was always worth the trip to come back there time and again to get my hair done. The cuts are cutting edge (ha, get it?) and their coloring is also top notch. When they suggest different things my advice (seriously) is to at least listen to their ideas, whether you go with them or not. They know what they are doing. They've made me look terrific when I felt my hair was hopeless as well as taught me how to make it look good at home. WELL worth the money (pricing is not bad at all), unless you don't feel you're worth it.... and come on, of course you're worth it! read more

I've been going to Snip City since I was a kid to get my hair cuts. When I was little there wasn't much to do with it other than trim the bottom but now that I'm an adult I like to keep it spicy. Either way I don't trust anyone else with my hair (other than my year in Los Angeles). I have strangely wavy and frizzy hair and I've been told honestly and nicely that some cuts I want won't work and been pleasantly steered towards better choices. It's always a pleasure to go here and that's why I keep a standing appointment every couple of months. AND I love when they decorate stuff. read more

I've been seeing Pasquale, the charismatic owner of this fine establishment, since I was six years old. I'm twenty six now and I wouldn't dare go any place else. That's hundreds of haircuts, and never a bad one. It's a very friendly, familiar and welcome environment, with cleanliness, courtesy and decor that match the excellent level of service provided. My favorite quality of this salon is the variety of clients served. There has always been a healthy mix of families, professionals, older folks and trendy young people -- a real cross-section of the community that Snip City serves. Pasquale is the best, he gave me a haircut David Beckham would envy! There open late most days and the rates are competitive if not less expensive than other high end salons. The atmosphere and the vibe of the place is just cool. There located in a trendy neighborhood with little restaurants and bars all around them. You best bet is to book ahead of time because they do the business and are always busy but not busy enough to take care of you in a bind. I am loyal to Kristen at Snip City for 3 1/2 years because she does such an outstanding job keeping my bright blonde hair healthy! (and she's a really nice girl!). She cares about the condition of my hair. I receive random compliments on how nice the color looks and how long and healthy it looks. I have only been highlighting my hair for a few years so am not good knowing terminology/explaining what I want. I got a cute cut and highlights from Pasquale last week and wasn't completely happy with the color a week later. He let got me in (called when there was a cancellation) and touched up the color perfectly so it blended better. His customer service is outstanding. He gives the best hair cuts and the rates are extremely reasonable (with the ability to stop in to get things 'fixed' if you don't like something). The kind way he treated me, his technique and the great atmosphere has made me (and my daughter) want to only use them in the future. I highly recommend Snip City! read more

Snip City has gone downhill a bit with the departure of the wonderful Kathy, but it is still a pretty good spot. The place is always nicely decorated and accessorized. This may seem shallow, but I figure if the salon looks good, then they can't do much damage to me and my coif. The stylists are all friendly and listen to my requests. The kids' haircuts are a bit pricy at $25 (I've started taking them to BoRic's) but other services seem in line with what's out there (my cut and blow dry is $45). They recently added manicures, but I haven't had one yet. read more

Five stars for KRISTEN!!! She does my hair, and she's fabulous. I'm black and she does my hair better than anyone my own color. She's excellent and a total sweet heart. I travel an hour and fifteen to get to her because she is the best stylist I know. She's always on time with my appointments and the other staff members seem nice enough. Update! After my rather unpleasant first visit, I received a phone call from the owner, Pasquale, apologizing for my experience. He offered to send me a gift certificate and invited me back for an appointment with him. I received a box from the salon yesterday with a note of apology, a gift certificate, and a full size Paul Mitchell shampoo and conditioner. Quite impressive! Obviously Pasquale cares about his customers and their experiences and is willing to make it right. If I return to Snip City and have a great experience I'll be happy to give even more stars. read more

I have been seeing Pasqual for years, he is the best hair cutter I've ever had. I really trust him to figure out what to do with my thin white hair as I get older and older and less and less traditional as I age! Last summer he gave me a multi-color tint that was incredible and won me compliments everywhere I went. I think this shop has the best cutters in the Oak Park and River Forest area; plus it has a wonderful sense of community there, too, something white hair salons are usually missing! read more

Been coming here for a few years now and I do love it. All the stylists are friendlly. I see Pam regularly and she is sweet and always gives me just what I asked for. The prices are in line with a salon but not over the top. Products are there but don't get shoved down your throat. I hate that I felt so compelled to write this review because this doesn't speak to the character of the hair dresser. I am just extremely disappointed in my latest visit to Kristen. I haven't ever been blown away by her work, but because I haven't had much luck anywhere else since moving to the area a year ago, and because I was tired of trying new salons, I just thought I'd settle here and try to establish a relationship with her. The longer we worked together the better she would know my hair and what I liked etc. I have to get my blonde color treated hair touched up every 4 weeks because of pesky grey's. I now have to do a double process because highlights and low lights don't cover the grey any more. So I have to get a base color and usually every other visit I can do just the root touch up, without getting high lights. Anyway, this last visit was just for that, a root touch up. I told her I wanted to stay on the lighter side. She put on a darker root on me. When we rinsed and washed and I saw it and said something she said, oh your hairs just wet. Well guess what, after drying it, it was still this ugly shade of dark. My roots looked awful. I washed my hair daily for a week hoping it would help wash out some of this color. My bf even said to me when he first saw me, it looked like I had a mo-hawk! because the roots formed this odd looking line down the middle where my part is. So now, three weeks later, every time I look at my hair my skin crawls. I look and feel awful and have finally had it. I won't be back. read more

I get my hair done so rarely that I wanted it to look nice for the holiday, when I'll be visiting my boyfriend's family.
