Rachel our server was great at getting the girls real coloring books and a big assortment of crayons. Somebody is really thinking about the little kids. Huge selection of New York beers, wines, and ciders. I tasted the girl's cheese pizza. This is not your average cheese pizza. I truly wish I had taken the time to analyze the complexity of the sauce, because I would love to make something half as nice. Omah (the grandmother, my wife) had fried ravioli. The shells were nice, golden and crunchy. But the cheese filling was some magical mixture of mozz and ricotta that dazzled my tongue. I had the NY Burger. Background: I am not a New Yorker. I was raised in the deep South, and up to now had questioned the value of anything "New York." (Excepting my grandchildren and their mom, of course.) I expect pretentious and parochial, over-priced and lacking value. The burger I had at New York Kitchen was the best I've ever had. I'm 72. I'm a meat eater. I've eaten thousands and thousands of burgers. Hands down this was the best, ever. The meat itself was super tasty and juicy, perfectly cooked to my specification. The brioche roll was perfect. The Bibb lettuce and tomato perfect, too. The sauce? Magic and mystifying. I didn't expect a lot going in to the restaurant, because the architecture is striking. (In my experience, focus on environment takes focus off the food. New York Kitchen breaks all of my rules. I am so happy to have been there. Thanks to my son and his family!

The ambience and gardens outside were also wonderful and wish we came a bit earlier to enjoy the lake views. Check-in is easy and classroom is right when you come in. The stations were well laid out with everything you needed. Our Chef Eli was very entertaining and we learnt some new knife cutting skills. The menu for us was German Oktoberfest themed with pork schnitzel, homemade spaetzle, and a harvest sauté vegetables. We throughly enjoyed the experience and class also came with 2 drinks and the meal you cooked together to enjoy. It was nice to support this wonderful 501c3 organization but do think the tickets are quite pricey for what you get.

In the evenings, it gets pretty loud, particularly for a hotel restaurant at that price point. The bartenders are always friendly and the vibe down here is fun. It's a nice place to grab a well crafted cocktail. I like the Smoke and Spice, a slightly sweet whiskey based drink. We both enjoyed our breakfast as well. The service in the morning was a little slow, but still attentive. Again, the menu is fairly small, so I had a bagel, eggs, and fruit from the ala carte menu. Nothing overly exciting, but not bad!

Reservation had an option for dining room or gallery. I wasn't sure what it meant so I booked dining room. Dining room was a small room in the rear of the restaurant with a few tables. It was cozy when we were the only ones in there, but got loud once a few tables came in. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary, and received complimentary champagne and dessert, which was a nice touch! My husband ordered 1 draft beer which was cold and refreshing, and I ordered a Jack and Coke, which was everything it should be! The garlic topped bread and butter was amazing! We skipped appetizers this trip. I ordered the New York strip. It was ordered medium and came out more like a medium well, but it was good. The béarnaise was very flavorful. My husband ordered the half rack of lamb. It was also good. For sides, we tried the truffle fries, squash, and mushrooms. All were fine. Our servers were nice and knowledgable. Our waters were always full and they were attentive. Overall it was nice evening. Everything was just "fine" and "good". Our bill totaled $219.00 after a 20% tip and I found myself wanting more than just "fine" and "good" for that price!

The staff is phenomenal.. At least on the first day. Shareem, Rodrigo, and Sherry are amazing…read more. super friendly and helpful. The hotel itself isn't anything to brag about but it's decent.. we did have an issue with someone blasting the music so loud the floors and walls shook. They took care of it. Unfortunatly it was recurring so the sleep wasn't that good both nights. The rooms are ok. Not the cleanest but acceptable. You'll find some missed corners with dirt and found garbage behind the shower toiletry dispenser. Nothing major but could be better. Beds were comfy and the linens and towels are bleach cleaned. You can smell it. The fixtures are dated so bring your own charging cables and don't expect to use usb here. The only ones are on the alarm clocks and plugging a cord in makes the clock make strange noises and the plugs on top didnt work.. I ended up plugging in the wall.. next time I'll bring a surge protector and extras. This is clearly a dorm and not really a motel/hotel. You hear running in the halls, slammed doors, chanting, etc anything reminiscent of a college dorm. That explains the graffiti and broken fixtures. It's an older property and for the price it was fine. They did mess me up though. Was scheduled for an airport shuttle and confirmed but they didn't tell me they didn't run on the weekends so I'm waiting and no ride. If I didn't have a ride share app I would have been out of luck. This issue pushed me 30 minutes off schedule and made me almost miss the check in time. Im really dreamed about that because someone should have told me. No apologies or explanations. Just fugue it out yourself even though we are the ones that messed up. Would I stay here again? If the first day staff was working. The rest were not as friendly or helpful. After careful reflection, this is q college town. I came for medical but most everyone else is here for the schools so with that in mind; this place was in line with whats ro be expected. I think I would rather go to another hotel or motel without the students and atmosphere if I can find one. I also found out the person blasting the music is hearing impaired. I felt bad for complaining but it was really loud and disrupted my sleep. So if this is something you can overlook then maybe it is a good option. But for someone who likes the peace and quiet and consideration then perhaps other places will work better. Final thought, the hot water was out for several hours Friday night. I got a very room temp shower at about 8 after trying for hours. I realized that was the best it would be and got it over with. Very low water pressure with warmish water was not a great experience. First night water temp was great with low pressure.
