Whenever I am lost I am found at this foot massage place. I have been here zillion of times. Never got a chance to write a review. All along it was nothing but positive experiences! Now the last time I went I felt so so disappointed. Sadly now writing reviews they are getting only one star from me! There are a couple of new faces... I got assigned a female... ok no problem. She started the massage and pause and then pause... I am looking at my friend next to me her masseuse is going to town doing his job! Mine... nothing! Then she decided to leave! Another guy came and all he did was rub and rub. I asked more than 5 times to please make it harder maybe he realize he need to give me a massage and pressure points not just rub... he pretended to not understand English even though they translated to him. Usually they wipe your feet after the lotion and oil with a hot wet towel... he did none of that! I almost slipped when I left I had to buy wet towels to wipe them to be able to walk What was more disappointing is at the end trying to share your experience at the front desk... you get brushed off! One of the most popular Chinese massage spots in SATX, WZ Foot Spa is so reminiscent of places I've seen throughout Cali and Houston. They have multiple locations throughout the city but this strip mall location is among their most well reviewed. The place is dark. Almost in a eerie way since it's so quiet, but they do a good job of ushering folks to where they need to be. Most folks will end up in their main room, which is public. It may feel weird for the average person who is used to private rooms, but they do a good job of making sure no one os disturbed. I personally really like their one hour foot massage at $35. In NYC I paid $25 (and occasionally $15 for early bird specials), but their setup is way more comfortable. Instead of chairs, they allow folks to let on their backs while they work away at the feet. What's more is that they cover folks with a small towel over the eyes, a full body towel, and hot rocks compress for the neck. The massage table is more of a bed and a comfy one at that. My guy is Jason, who does an excellent job overall and will dedicate a time to do the rest of the back and limbs. Essentially it's a foot massage and body massage, which is almost like 2 for 1. For those who prefer a more private environment, they do have solo rooms but only a few. None of the rooms have the bars in the ceiling for back walking so that's a mild disappointment. I would recommend calling ahead of time and setting up an appointment. While it's true many if the massauses aren't that proficient in English, I feel there shouldn't be punished for it. My mom and I came here for a last minute walk-in appointment. It's located in a 'meh' part of town and there's plenty of parking in this shopping center. Yes, there's a cat in this place, so if that turns you off, then this isn't the place for you. It doesn't smell like cat and it's not dirty, or anything. I have cats, so I thought it was a nice touch. The prices are visible on their menu in the front, but just be clear on what combination or package you want. I'm comfortable with a man or a woman massaging me; however, it just would have been nice if my mom and I were asked first. We were gestured to go to a back room that was meant for couples, friends or family members to get massages together. My sister in law had been here several times before and had asked the family today if we're up for a massage. She called to make sure they could take 4 of us at the same time. We all went for the 1 hour foot reflexology ($35). The place intentionally had low lighting and was quiet and we were ready for some serious relaxation. I'm familiar with this type of massage since I normally go to Houston's Chinatown for this. Lucy was my masseuse and she brought a bucket with hot water for my feet to soak in while she massaged from head down to the legs. Unlike the typical swedish or deep tissue massage, you keep all your clothes on during the entire massage. The best part was laying face down and got to work the back, especially the neck and shoulders. One thing to remember if you intend to come back is the membership card. Have them sign it each time you get a massage. For every 10 massages, you get 1 foot reflexology for free. All of them speak Mandarin so I was ok. For the most part, they speak English well. I DO NOT RECOMMEND going to this place. TIP IS REQUIRED AND MANDATORY. Very unprofessional and rude. Customers service was really bad. I went in to this place with my sisters and we will never come back or recommend this place to anyone. I was in pain the entire time and wanted to leave. It was my first time getting a massage so I went in thinking I was going to relax and enjoy my time there. The massage lady was too rough on my skin, muscles, tendons, bone (especially my spinal cord) and I feel I need to say it again I never got to relax during my foot and body massage there. She rubbed my face super hard I felt my skin stretching, like I felt I was going to age 5 more years after that face stretch. She wasn't gentle at all. For the foot massage I didn't even feel anything after her pressing too hard, my feet went numb and I felt like she was rushing she was doing to fast. She would finish before her other two coworkers attending my sisters. For the back massage, I want taken to a different room. This one is the one I felt more pain. As being my first massage, I did not know how to feel or say. My expectations were really high about being relaxing at the beginning and then the pain became higher. I did not want to be rude or disrespectful to the lady so I just kept thinking that she was doing her job and the massages should be like that. I wanted to scream because she kept massaging super rough like she should know she is massaging a human being not a sack of potatoes. I was facing down through the hole they have on the table and I had my mouth open the whole time because of the pain.. My massage was done 5 mins earlier than my sisters so I went to pay to the front desk lady. She was the definition of unprofessional and rudeness combined. I paid for my services and she requested for a tip. So I was like "yeah sure", so based on my experience there I told her $5 and she laughed at me and said "$5 dollars?!?!? No, no no $10 dollars is good!!!" So I was in shock and did not know how to react so I told her it was fine. Then I told her I was going to pay for my sisters and when it came to the tip she said "$10 and $10 tip" and she added those tips to the bill. She charged me $30 for tips and I didn't even know my sisters experience. We went there because someone recommended us to go and please don't be like that person who did and recommend this place to anyone else. For this place, a tip is MANDATORY if not you will get laughed at and treated very unprofessional and rude. Also, I had to wait for my sisters to be done so I stayed there sitting in the couch with the lady looking at me all ugly. I paid the tips because at the end of the day, the people there provided a "service" but now typing this review I got to thinking that the tip was not deserved at all and she should be the one paying her workers more. This will help me to stand up for myself next time I am in a situation like this. Please do not come here. Love going here. The place is always clean and there massage therapist pay close attention to the areas that need more TLC. Mediocre is the best I can think of to describe my experience here. First an foremost both me and someone who came in at the same time were both shorted about 7 minutes time on a 60 minute massage. Secondly I tipped $10 on a $35 charge which to me was decent for the mediocre massage I received and the guy didn't say thank you he basically grunted like he was not satisfied. I travel continuously and have probably been in 250 foot massage places from NY to San Fran to Mexico to Houston and motel everywhere in between so I know what to expect and at a minimum I would like to full 60 minutes. When I was there there was only one female masseuse and 5 males just dropping that in there in case you have a preference you might want to call in advance. They have an answer omg foot massage special for $30 however when you're laying there getting a massage of heavenly proportions, the only thing left to do is to continue on. Their full body massages run around $60 bucks which is standard rate and it's good practice to almost always leave at least a $20 tip. The setting is extremely dark and you lay down on the toweled bamboo beds. They're so comfortable and it's not uncommon to fall asleep on them. My massage with Dina was super good! She was able to find my knots and gently yet firmly work them out. She was able to really relax my tense spots. I gave it a low rating because the place was not sanitary and they had a cat walking around the premises which can be a huge issue. The place was also loud! Not conducive to my relaxation needs. WZ is the best bargain spa you can go to for the money in San Antonio. Only reason I can't give them 5 stars is because they aren't always consistent. For only 35 bucks you get a full body massage for an hour. It really feels like the whole relaxing hour as well, I feel they don't short ya on the 5-10 minutes that most other places do. Ensure that you specifically request the 35 dollar foot massage, as I took my wife there a different time, and the lack of communication from the staff (very little English) ended up costing us waay more. The space is unusual since it's shared open space, so you hear every conversation, every ringtone, everyone who walks in, AND how the therapists were talking about how to cut your massage short in Chinese thinking you don't understand it. So hopefully you understand Chinese, otherwise you might want to check the start time, or they can cut it short by 5 minutes easily without you knowing. While a few minutes may not be much, it should not be acceptable to conduct business as such. It's very sneaky and disrespectful to customers. Today I witnessed a worker put down a couple for the amount they left as a tip. The couple attempted to give one of the masseuse $10 in cash when the masseuse looked at them very ugly and said "this is it?" To begin with tips are not mandatory, it's courtesy for the service that was provided. A tip is better than no tip. The understandably upset couple asked politely for the tip back and walked out, as they should for the insane amount of attitude that was being given to them by the worker of WZ Foot Spa. The worker then proceeded to chase the couple out of the spa, then came back in extremely upset going off with two other workers. I understand the hard work they put into giving massages, but if the service fee and a $10 tip minimum isn't going to satisfy them they should consider increasing their prices. I feel like $10 tip is pretty common at this place since a 60 minute foot massage is $35. The way the workers reacted was extremely shocking. I've come to this place twice when I had time after checking out of hotel and catching a flight. I was able to call ahead and make an appointment and then catch a ride share to airport after. It is a short 10 min ride to airport and cheap fare too. It is your normal Asian spa, in a big room w several tables set up. Great massage especially in travel mode. They really get to the knots and aches and pains. I yelped to find Asian spas near me twice, laughed when I pulled up and it was the same place I went last time. Highly recommend! I paid for a 1-hour full body massage. A kindly 60'ish-looking lady took me to the room to get undressed. The table was one of those large board type with a cutout for the head. On top of the hole was a foam thing with a paper towel so presumably it could be easily reused. I started face down and the kindly lady scrubbed me with the drape towel for about 15-20 minutes. She applied pressure with her elbows and palms and seemed determined to drive my hear through the cutout. After about twenty minutes she applied oil and flesh touched skin. But then rather than massage with soothing strokes, she scrubbed me like a dirty pot. The session did not approve. I was tempted to quit about 1/2 way through but I tend to ride things out, no matter how bad, once I start. And I was also curious if it would ever improve. It did not. I've had 100's of massages in my lifetime, maybe thousands. This one was the second-worst ever and I am doubtful I will live long enough for it to lose its place in my personal pantheon. read more

It's worth the price for sure. I always feel incredible after leaving. However, it doesn't always smell the best and sometimes feels musty inside but it's still worth the price.
