This was the first time I boarded my dog here for an extended period. I had left him hear once before, but only for a day (8:30AM - 5:00PM) while we were out of town for a funeral. I arrived to pick him up and was immediately met with criticism. He needs more socialization, he's WAY to nervous and shy, needs more time spent in daycare, etc. OK, fine. That may be true. He's only five months old, so we haven't had time to get him to daycare. To be honest, I'm probably not going to. We're a busy family of six and we don't have time to deal with the doggy daycare thing. So fine, call me a bad pet owner. Guilty as charged. Anyway, after she was done criticizing my pet ownership skills, I asked about the status of my dog's comfort item (a towel). This was met with a response of "You can't be serious!" Whoa, what? After I stood there for a few seconds looking astonished by this incredibly snarky/unnecessary/rude response, she tersely explained that my dog tore up his towel. Ok, maybe you could just say that the first time instead of being incredulous. I then asked about my leash. They had taken my dog back into their kennel still on my leash. She then pointed to some leashes on the wall and told me to find mine. I explained that none of the leashes on the wall were mine. I further explained that mine was a brand new (I still have the receipt in my car) 6' black leash. She huffed her way back into the kennel area to see if she could find it. After a few minutes she came out with a tiny orange leash that would be suitable only for a tiny dog. I explained that this was the second time this had happened in his two stays at TLC. The first time, during his daytime stay, they had lost his alligator toy. No big deal. They even replaced it with one of there toys. But now they had lost a second item. As I said at the beginning, I don't like leaving bad reviews. Look through my other reviews. I don't think I've ever left a one star review. If they were able to treat me this poorly after I finished paying them, I can only imagine how my puppy was treated during his five-day stay there. I will never again send my dog to TLC Acres and if anyone ever asks me for a boarding recommendation, I won't hesitate to tell them this story.

My plans have changed and I called to cancel the reservation (3 days in advance). The woman I spoke to asked if they had my credit card on file. I indicated "no" and she asked for my credit card number so she could charge me $50 for the cancellation. When I stated this policy was not explained to me when I made the reservation, she told me that if I didn't pay, my dog is no longer welcome to board there again. Yikes! I would have paid the cancellation fee if the policy was explained to me up front, but to demand $50.00 after the fact is ridiculous and very unprofessional!

She has a great sense of humor and makes training so much fun. Chico and Zorro thrived under her instruction and loved going each week. She spent as much time as needed to make sure they were performing as they should. You can truly see her love for the dogs she works with. We will definitely be using her again in the future, if needed. She has turned our hectic life with two pups into an enjoyable time! I can't recommend her enough!!

Beth cannot handle her own schedule and does not show up to work. And hey, maybe Beth does have 8000 family and personal problems. That's not my business. What is my business is my dog, who goes weeks without any form of consistency. Beth is great short term. Im talking 2-3 classes. But any more than that and you're at risk for serial cancelations. Beth is very knowledgeable. Day one she will assess your dog. I like this. She will tell you where you're at and tailor your dogs program. Beth works on the weekends. Do not cancel things for her because she will not cancel things for you. After a year my dog still has not learned the things he needs to be a therapy dog, which may be partially due to temperament but definitely has something to do with the consistency. Edit for response: at least 2-3 of our original 8, which we didn't get, were 20 minutes long. Not okay. I'd say we got 6-7 before we were thrown into general group classes. And not even 6-7 full classes. Two were review of the test. Umm- I think I can read!!! Not worth those classes!
