We used Wilder Space to cater a baby shower for about 60 people this past weekend, and they were absolutely incredible. Every detail felt thoughtful and elevated -- from the beautiful displays, signage, tablescapes, and darling water/juice stations to the gorgeous paper products and overall presentation. The food was fantastic, and the vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options were especially impressive. Guests were raving about everything. The service was just as exceptional -- the team was attentive, kind, constantly refreshing items, clearing tables, and so gracious throughout the event. They were also wonderful to work with on budget, incredibly accommodating, and even helped with a few extras so we did not need additional rentals. I booked very early on with her and had many questions and follow ups. She always responded promptly with love, compassion, and a clear passion for her work. We had Wylder Space provide the catering for our May 2024 wedding and were very pleased with the service and quality of the food! We particularly liked the fact that all of our chosen entrees were gluten free without having to make any changes to them, as we had a number of GF guests in attendance. Molly was very accommodating throughout the quoting process to help fit our budget without sacrificing the quality of the food or service. Everything tasted very good, and the overall presentation of the dishes was beautiful, especially the chocolate rosemary braised short ribs which were definitely a favorite amongst our guests! The vegan entree was also a standout; what's usually an afterthought for a lot of caterers was a delicious and thoughtfully presented option. We also have to give a particular shout out to the vegan, gluten free seven layer dream bars which were absolute HEAVEN. I had Wylder Space cater for my wedding. We discussed what type of menu we were looking for then came in for a full-course tasting menu. The food was amazing during the tasting and our wedding. All our guests raved about the food. We added a beef wellington entree and a french fry bar to our menu. We didn't opt to taste-test it, but it still turned out amazing. The beef wellington was cooked perfectly. We also had sea bass, chicken, pasta, and a kid's chicken entree. Everyone was cooked perfectly (I heard from my guests), which is really impressive because they prepped and cooked for 150 people. Molly even helped us figure out table settings (what we needed and what we didn't). She also created menu displays for our french fry and boba bar, which I didn't talk about but she knew we needed it. Everything looked beautiful I was so happy with how it turned out. read more

I had the blackberry strawberry smoothie and the biscuits with gravy. First off the setting is pleasant. They've done a good job of creating a relaxing atmosphere. Service was a bit spotty at times, but I'll attribute that to the recent reopen of the state and getting back into the swing of things. Now for food: smoothie was delicious though I wish they either served it with a longer straw or chose a different glass so it was easier to drink given the decor up top. The biscuits and gravy had lots of flavor, but I could have used about a stick less of butter. Additionally they added even more butter as a side on the potatoes. The plate was already saturated so no need for extra butter. The biscuits were flaky and delicious and the gravy was good but again had too much butter for my liking. Finally while I appreciate fancy silverware, I like for it to be functional. The biscuits required a sturdy knife but the gold knife that was part of the set was nowhere near up to the task. I was eventually able to get a different knife but if you order the biscuits make sure to ask for an appropriate knife. Overall I'd return and maybe try a different dish. read more

Well I give this meal a 5 even knowing the desert was not ready and I was looking forward to it lol I love the owner she is adorable not sure what happened but I was there at 3 for pick up and that's probably to early. The cous cous made up for it and was probably the best I've ever had. so delicious! The lamb was good but Cous Cous was the absolute bestseller! They gave me 25% off because desert was not quiet ready I will be back again and again. My felton fave. Hands down. This review is about our experiences OVERALL using Wylder Space as our "buffet-style" dinner catering for our small, intimate wedding. Molly and her team are super nice, very responsive, and very pleasurable to work with. Her restaurant was recommended as one of our preferred vendors and we were impressed during our dinner tasting, which included appetizers, salmon, and avocado beet hummus. The quality of the tasting was excellent and her pricing fit our budget, so we chose Wylder Space as our caterer. During the night of our wedding, Molly and her team delivered the food and set everything up as promised punctually. However, this is where our expectations were let down. All of the food presented in bulk were far from what we experienced during our tasting. The appetizers were delicious (shrimp and scallops), but the main courses (salmon, braised short rib, avocado beet hummus) were especially underwhelming and rough/chewy. The salad was also disappointing and many of the greens were NOT fresh, which was pointed out by many of our guests. We were completely shocked when we saw that our guests would heat up leftovers from lunch to eat, rather than eat the dinner provided. By the end of the night, we had a ridiculous amount of food remaining from dinner. We truly enjoyed working with Molly, but overall there are certain things that can be improved on. 1) Food quality: We believe dinner catering by Wylder Space is best done by individual plates served by staff. Buffet style food in bulk definitely affected the quality of the meal. The inconsistency of what we had at the tasting and the actual dinner really dampened our experience with Wylder Space. 2) Masking: We are in the middle of a pandemic and everyone in our small, intimate wedding had to provide negative COVID test for the safety of everybody. Molly & her team came and delivered the food without wearing masks, which could have jeopardized all of our guests. Molly is a wonderful person and she is a joy to work with, but if you are planning to choose Wylder Space as your caterer, I recommend having their team ON SITE to prepare and serve your guests individually so that the quality of food isn't a surprise. read more

We hired Wylder to cater our fully vegan wedding on May 29, 2022. Molly was so amazing throughout the planning process! We did a tasting and a separate dessert tasting after our initial dessert plans fell through, and she made both feel like very special and intimate experiences. She was responsive to emails and was very flexible. The food was wonderful. It felt like a menu that was truly designed for us, very plant-forward with fresh ingredients done in delicious and innovative ways. On the day of, the catering team arrived on time and did set up for all of the rentals. They were thorough in set up and clean up, communicated everything very clearly, and did an awesome job throughout the event. She asserted herself to tell me off then threatened me saying " this is the last time". I'm uncomfortable getting food from here again because on multiple occasions, the staff was either not wearing a mask at all or inappropriately, or there were guests in the restaurant (a table of 6) all not wearing masks. I wanted to love this place when it opened, it has an interesting model and it had the potential to be a great addition to Felton. The first meal I ordered (takeout, cuz COVID) was pretty good, it was fried chicken, pasta salad, and sautéed greens. The next one I got was the meatloaf meal. Advertised as moist and delicious, it was pretty dry and flavorless. Something with the greens had changed, they weren't as good as before. The potatoes were good, we didn't receive the sauce that was supposed to come with the cheesecake cups. I'd love to try them again but due to their loose mask policies I don't feel safe being a patron, and am concerned by their lack of precautions taken for their employee's safety. read more

This review is about customer service not their food. I'll never try their food considering that couldn't bother to give a call back on what would have been a $600 order. I've been looking into ordering prepared meals for Thanksgiving since this year it will be a small group. I called everywhere in the county practically. Wylder Space was the only place that didn't return my call. That's out of 25 restaurants. I left msg on social media but needed to know if WS had a children's menu. None is listed which is weird for a family holiday. Not only that they are $88 a meal that you have reheat yourself. A restaurant meal wouldn't be that expensive. We could go to the Shadowbrook with a beautiful ambiance for half the price. Plus no info if anything was organic. I'd expect it be for $88! Insane. I get it they are newbies to Santa Cruz but I don't think they know their customer base. If you can't afford to be in business in Santa Cruz trying to gouge the customers won't help. They might take pretty pictures or write faux deep thoughts but their customer service is horrible. I brought this up in a mom's group and was told some other really negative things so I guess I'm glad they never returned my calls, emails or messages. I'm glad I made other plans. This past December we contracted with Wylder Space for our company Holiday Party in Scotts Valley, CA. Not only did they provide the most delicious farm-to-table meal and the most delicious desserts, but their customer service went above and beyond! Have been to the Wylder restaurant several times, including their catering at Hallcrest winery. They have a nice happy hour. I have yet to try brunch. Food & service are hit & miss. Lots of wonderful menu items & ideas, unfortunately the execution is lacking and inconsistent. I would rate the restaurant average as far as food, service & execution. Wylder is not even close to 5-star and I've been meaning to add my 2-cents to the reviews. There are far better restaurants in Santa Cruz, including Copal, Vim, West End Tap, etc. all on the Westside. I sure miss Cremer House in Felton & am looking forward to Alvarado Street taking over that location. I was surprised to run into the catering end at a recent wedding for my best friend's only daughter. Here I would rate the food a 2. I want you wedding couples & planners to know Wylder is not a 5-star operation. I asked the wedding planner (the groom's cousin from the east coast) how she came across our hole in the wall caterer in Felton. She said she found them on the internet & arranged a tasting based on all the 5-star reviews. I haven't yet spoken to the mother of the bride (I plan to) but I assume the tasting went well because, if the per person price is $100-150/person, the catering cost would've been between $20-30K! And they never would've chosen what we were served. The food: The cheese board was fabulous. Wonderful cheeses, including dairy free for the lactose intolerant. The honeycomb was a great touch, unfortunately the wrapper was left on & nobody knew it was honeycomb (better labels would've been nice as the guests were guessing what the cheeses were - I think only the lactose free were labeled.) Also, there were NO plates, so guests were crowding around the table trying to enjoy the cheeses. After several requests for plates, someone brought saucers (sorry, that's just wrong!). When the crackers ran out, again, the guests had to chase down the caterer staff, one of whom brought the Costco almond cracker box out to the table and proceeded to shove his hand into box to replenish! Then dinner, served buffet style: Kale caeser Avo w/beet hummus Roasted sweet potato wedges w/tahini drizzle Roast chicken Molé short ribs We were the last to go thru the buffet, and they had run out salad. When the salad was finally replenished, the kale was raw and the caesar dressing tasted like mayo. I didn't see or taste the earlier salad, so I hope it was wilted with a nice bright garlic, lemony. anchovie hint dressing that stood up to the kale. The salad l had was inedible. I've had the avo w/beet hummus at the restaurant & liked it. The buffet presentation was a little sloppy, and there was about half the hummus in the seed hole compared to the restaurant presentation. The sweet potato wedges were mostly raw, not even al dente. I got one wedge that was almost cooked. The tahini sauce was bland & too thick. Again, inedible! The meat, chicken was dry & ribs okay, maybe 3-4oz pieces. While going thru the buffet, I was taken aback when we were told we get to choose only one protein, one tiny piece of meat (I got to taste my fiancé's). I should've chosen the ribs. Maybe the raw potatoes & kale were due to bad portion planning and they had run out before the last 20 guests? Who knows? The last plate should be just as good as the first plate. No excuse. That said, Wylder has potential. I truly hope they will improve their food consistency & service. The menu ideas are there, just lacking in execution. I keep going back, hoping for that 5-star experience and Wylder's success as a local hole in the wall gem. read more

Menu of the day looked good but everyone gave us weird looks (maybe because we were wearing masks!). Wasn't a friendly environment for us & I was bummed!
