Cute small store with good food and even better service. What a wonderful drive as well if you are out there. Tell Mary I said "It'll Fly"

This Charming (yes, a capital C) place opened in downtown Waynesboro, Va as one of the first spots to help turn downtown around. With a miss-mash of antiques everywhere you turn, including old china for serving, you can't escape its eclectic creativeness. It has become a staple for brunch and lunch every day they are open. On a recent Thursday I found my self off from work so I met up with a friend for lunch. They were packed, luckily I knew to call ahead to make a reservation. Highly recommend! Although if you don't, they have a large communal table available too. The great thing about SBL is that everything is great. My favorite soup is the tomato basil bisque. I've had a variety of their salads and sandwiches as well and have never been disappointed. But on Thursdays I just learned, they have the grilled salmon BLT. This thing is massive, messy, and delicious. I may be taking another Thursday off just go eat this thing again.

I got mine on a wrap and she got hers on a berry wheat bread toast. Both were excellent! The staff were friendly and attentive! Such a great spot!!

We had such a wonderful experience at Broad Porch Coffee!…read more The salmon and dill toast was absolutely incredible--the presentation alone was beautiful, and it tasted even better. Everything was so fresh and perfectly balanced. It was so good that we ended up ordering two more to go just so our older teens could try it too! We also had the kale and roasted grape salad, and it was exactly what my palate needed--light, refreshing, and full of flavor. You can really tell they put thought into every ingredient. Overall, such a great spot with amazing food and attention to detail. We'll definitely be back!

Seeing how much looked good and we were tourists, we over-ordered and got to try a little of everything. From the summer menu, we got Biscuit and Gravy, Paradise Parfait, and the Bread Pudding. I enjoyed my biscuit and gravy - pretty solid. Child #1 devoured his parfait (I tried it and I think it may have been my favorite item - they also have a vegan chia seed option - a woman was enjoying hers next to us when we waited in line), and my wife loved the bread pudding, which has a nice maple glaze to it. We also grabbed several of their pastries, including some scones, a muffin, and a buckwheat cake slice. All were great, though the buckwheat pastry was a tad dry. They have a lot of standard offerings of a coffee shop - teas, coffees, lattes, etc. I got a matcha latte and found it to be earthy and not too sweet. The inside is a bit narrow, especially when you consider a long line. The staff are efficient but don't lose their warm hospitality. Broad Porch has an Air BNB "Loft in Luray" located upstairs. I imagine it would be wonderful waking up to the smell of coffee and pastries. I would say if you're visiting Luray, Broad Porch is a MUST VISIT. There's something for everyone. Highly recommended.

Absolutely 1 of 2 best breakfast spots in Harrisonburg. Our other favorite is Heritage bakery…read more.. the theme of bakery lets you know that both places make all their bread and baked goods fresh! They don't gave thousands of dishes but every dish is thoughtful and each ingredient necessary to pull off the perfect bite. I think the fig pig tartine might be one of the best things I've eaten in a long time. The fig jam on freshly baked sourdough with fresh prosciutto and white cheddar, nutty arugula and the perfect sprinkle of lemon jest completes the dance in your palate. It's a must get. If you want something hearty... the sweet and hot breakfast biscuit will hit the spot. The jalapeño mixed with pear jam on a freshly baked biscuit... and the gooey white cheddar... so so good! Everything is fresh and delicious! A lot of breakfast places serve burnt industrial coffee... but they serve the coffee from Chestnut Ridge which is just across the street in the basement... but it's amazing! Fresh squeezed orange juice is pricey but delicious and the decor is beautiful! Get here before the doors open and wait in line or you'll have to wait a bit. But you can get on the waitlist and go to the stores across the street.

I appreciated that they were able to give me half/half on the greens and roasted potatoes as sides for the frittata. The Okay: service fell a bit short at times. They forgot about my partner's coffee. But I'll chalk this up to them being really busy. My partner wasn't too crazy about his breakfast sandwich, stating that the bread used was a bit too fluffy. All in all, would definitely give them another try.
