As of 2026, this place is still open for business in the basement of a State Office Building. I stopped by again just to see what was there and felt compelled to order something from their hot buffet. In addition to pizza and sandwiches, they have a dizzying array of different hot items from multiple cuisines (Italian, American, Greek, etc.) that I was told varies by the day and by the inclinations of the chef. I come here once or twice a year at most so I don't know of any patterns or schedules.
I tried the Chili chicken which came with two sides. I felt like I was at a mall food court. The was the pressure to upsell you to the "meal" (around $15!) and when I was checking out I was told I could add a dessert for more. I declined. Still, after tax and tip it cost me around $20. For what I got, it wasn't worth it. That is a lot of money for buffet food.
The chicken was fine, a bit tough from sitting in a hot box for awhile, and not at all spicy. But there was a certainly a good serving's worth (and there should have been at these prices) and they offered me dipping sauces like Buffalo or Ranch. It made for a strange pairing and I didn't touch the Buffalo much.
My second side of fries were really good, and despite a 10 minute walk back to my office they tasted hot and fresh and crispy. How is that possible? I dunno.
My rice was plain white rice but well seasoned with salt and it didn't stick together. I was supremely impressed how they could pull off such good rice on a steamer tray.
All in all, it tasted like it looked. It was decent food. Had I gotten it fresh it would have tasted better. Had I ordered something different (perhaps a chef's special) I might have gotten something unique. What I did get was a large portion of food, but for the price it just didn't hit home. I will stick with their pizza, which costs less and generally tastes better. read more
