I thought I had been seeing Dr. Wupperman the entire time for my new knee injury. I was seeing his P.A. Redwing whom is simply amazing. Had ACL reconstructions in the early 90's on both knees. Was in a bad accident last year causing multiple fractures in my ribs, arm and a TBI. Have had three surgeries since and bed rest due to almost puncturing a lung. So from the ER, an urgent care after reinjuring my knee and my last orthopedic surgeon whom did two rotator cuff surgeries (first one did not take) and my second rotator cuff almost three months ago I had been prescribed; hydrocodone twice, tramadol a few times as well as tylenol 3 the last two years. After my knee popped out I hit the ground extremely hard on both knees. I had immediate swelling and obvious pain. I got an appointment with Dr. Wupperman ASAP 5 days later. The nurse called me back and walked off and told me the room to come in. She not once asked me anything or took vitals like they normally do. In walks a man I have never seen. He did not introduce himself so I asked who he was, which he rudely states I am Dr. Wupperman. I stated I thought the man I was seeing, the P.A. who gave me a huge cortisone injection was Dr. Wupperman. He stated, I don't care. All I wanted was an x-ray of my knee seeing how I have bone fragments in my knee and as I was told by Redwing gel injections would be a good idea after a month of physical therapy. Dr. Wupperman stated at 42 years old I did not meet any requirements for care. I stated that my knee giving out and causing me to fall was not normal. He then stated I needed to start free weight squatting to build up leg strength bc he has a bad knee and that is what helps him. I did not even go into the fact that I can't put a 45lb bar on my shoulders, seeing how I just had rotator cuff surgery. I can barely stand or do anything for anything longer than 30 min. I told him where my pain was and he grabbed my knee cap with one hand and squeezed it extremely hard almost sending me out of the chair. He treated me as a drug seeker and someone so beneath him that he walked on water. I really had no idea how to react as I just got diagnosed with cancer. I have been a 911 paramedic for 19 years. This serious accident, surgeries and finding out I have cancer that day will probably be the end of my career and possibly my life. Did I mention I had started med school 9 years ago before I could no longer afford it? Dr. Wupperman has a very horrible bedside manner and his arrogance is unbelievable. He walked out and stated, I am sure you can find another doctor and shut the door. Dr. Wupperman before you start being condescending and straight-up rude as well as your nurse. You need to think about what your patients might be going through if you have not walked in their shoes or care to even ask about their medical history. Side note, when someone states they have severe knee pain, do not grab their knee and squeeze it hard. This by far was the most unprofessional and most horrible experience I have ever had with a doctor! read more
