We both have had back surgery from Dr. Rabbe here, my husband has had neck surgery too.. we highly recommend dr. Rabbe! This recent visit was for my left knee.. I should have done something with it ten years but it's now so messed up.. replacement is on threat!! Replacement is on the way. Different doctor but still great service! read more

Spouse's first visit not real helpful. He is having issues with a pinched nerve in the lower rt back. Lots of questions from provider but not much advice regarding pain control. He was given a nighttime muscle relaxer that also is not helping. No studies scheduled yet. In the meantime he isnt sleeping due to numbness and burning and a swollen rt foot. read more

We have had two knee replacements and two thumb reconstructions. Dr Kaminski and Dr Patterson are wonderful! Very personalable, easy to understand and on top of their game! Staff has been great. read more

Dr. Mikeska refused to see me and told me to see pain management. Wouldn't give a reason why he refused to see me. My Dr. had sent all the necessary paperwork and imaging. I have been doing pain management for over three weeks prior to trying to get an appt and basically bed ridden for 4 weeks. Horrible Dr's like this are the reason so many people are hooked on pills! read more

Dr Burleson did a great job with my sciatic nerve and low back pain. The only complaint I would have is it is hard to actually get through to the office. read more

I spent 1-1/2 Years at Spine care here in Tyler and the last time I was in that place I was on a walker. I was give three names and went to the first one and the doctor at Azelia orthopedic operated and I was back dancing in 4 weeks after major back surgery. But then I want to another doctor at Azelia and made the mistake of referring to him as a podiatrist and he let me know he was a orthopedic doctor and the problem was operated on but it didn't fix the problem. read more

Doctors are great but the staff need to get their story straight... initial staff explained how things would go during the day surgery but post op staff said something completely different. I prefer to not have to wonder how my loved one is being taken care of, everything should be clear and precise. read more

Dr. Merrick performed surgery on my wife and she is doing so much better now than before the surgery. Only complaint is that medication was not clearly explained to us upon discharge so she went several days in extreme pain because she thought she had to make the one bottle last. It should have been explained to us that she could have had another refill. Other than that, it was a very good experience. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Harris for years and I really like him. This time is was for right hip pain, an x-ray showed bone on bone. I was scheduled for Feb 9th for surgery. I went in for Pre Op testing on Feb 8th. On Feb 8th 3:30 I got a call cancelling my surgery because the pre op doc found a heart murmur. I had to then schedule a chemical stress test, I did that on Feb 17th, and passed with no problem. From that day on I heard absolutely nothing from the nurse, finally on Feb 18th she called to tell me of a cancellation at Mother Frances...I didn't have a clue why. I had been scheduled for surgery at Spine and Joint. They staff never called to tell me of the change. I was still taking aspirin and Arthritis meds so I couldn't do that Thursday, March 2nd. I am in great pain walking, and if I did have a heart problem the stress and anxiety level isn't good. Still not a word from the nurse. I am very upset by the run around I am getting and no communication. I did come off all meds...so now I wait for the phone to ring. I do not believe this is good practice in the medical field...I need help and I need surgery quick. read more

My mom fell late night Nov. 20/very early morning of Nov. 21 and broke her elbow in two places while out of town. The ER said it would need surgery because it was a comminuted break (bone separation). She did not want to do surgery away from home and traveled back home to Tyler upon release from the ER. I started calling Orthopedic facilities early the next morning (Monday, Nov. 22nd). Azalea Ortho was my first choice after looking at the reviews. The staff was very nice and said they would try to get her in soon and would call me back. After hearing nothing, I called back Tuesday afternoon. Again they were very nice but said the earliest they could get her in would be December, but were looking for another doctor to see her earlier and would call me back. After waiting AGAIN and hearing nothing, I finally took her to Christus ER on Wednesday afternoon. It is now the day before Thanksgiving. Christus ortho performed surgery on Monday, Nov. 30. On Dec. 17th I got a call from Azalea Ortho to schedule my mom's appointment, three weeks after her break!!!!!! This is not how trauma care should be. read more

I cannot recommend this clinic to anyone, nor will I ever be back. The front desk staff tried to discriminate against my daughter and her service dog, telling her she needed to present them with things that are in direct violation of ADA law governing service dogs if she wished to stay with me at my appointment. Her dog is for PTSD/Anxiety. The confrontation with front desk staff that resulted when my daughter tried to politely explain the law led to my daughter having a panic attack. Her dog had to do deep compression therapy on her to get her to a point where she was able to leave the clinic. As she was leaving, she stopped to get a drink of water. One of the security guards at the front was staring at her from behind, over the top of his desk. This caused her dog to bark to alert her to a potential threat, something else he's trained to do in order to help her get out of potentially stressful situations before they make her anxious. Because she was already being scrutinized and made to feel unwelcome, she felt she had to apologize and explain why her dog barked, leading to still more distress. The security guard staring at my daughter and her service dog for absolutely no reason (the dog is fully trained, was completely under control, and all my daughter was doing was getting a drink of water from the water fountain) ultimately distracted him from a much more important job: watching to make sure my daughter doesn't hurt herself as a result of being panicked or anxious. She doesn't know when she's engaging in harmful behaviors, such as picking at her skin until she bleeds, when she's upset. Her service dog is trained to interrupt her by distracting her or otherwise nudging her hands to get her to stop. There is absolutely no excuse for this. A medical clinic should know the ADA laws governing service dogs. The staff should be trained better and do better. My daughter was there to help me with my appointment. Not only was she unable to do that, she could have been hurt in the process. *This review was originally posted to Azalea Orthopedics Facebook page. I'm posting it in other places so non-Facebook users can see it. I feel it's important for people with service dogs or those that love them are told about my daughter's experience, especially if they have PTSD/Anxiety. I don't want anyone to be triggered by their front desk staff, as my daughter was, and wind up in physical or emotional pain as a result.* read more

We could not be more happy with our new patient appointment we had today. We had such a horrible experience at Precision Spine Care. We started to get doubtful. Azalea was everything we could have asked for. The ladies that schedule on the phone took the time to check on a few things so time wasn't wasted, very kind to do that. Front desk at the Spine Center was friendly and quick. They also were kind. The medical assistant was fantastic! Dr Burlison was the best. He took the time to explain the MRI and was very thorough. He was a great listener and even better at explaining. He gave us options. He made sure we were comfortable and knowledgeable before leaving the room. So from the phone call of scheduling,to leaving the office, it was a great experience. We feel like we are in good hands with the care we will need throughout the future. So grateful that we decided to go to Azalea Orthopedics. UPDATE!!! ***Surgery was needed*** so Dr Burlison sent us to his partner Dr Michael Merrick. I don't have enough words to describe how wonderful he is. He gave my husband his quality of life back. He is by far the best around. He followed up after surgery with a personal phone call just to check up. The procedure was flawless. No problems after, such a relief after all we had been through. Thank you to the whole azalea team for everything and especially Dr Merrick for being so caring and precise with the spine surgery. We lucked out by getting him as a surgeon. read more

Worst billing department. Took $501.00 out of my checking account without notifying me or sending a bill. This is absolutely unheard of for a company to do! Especially during a world pandemic when so many people are hurting. Their billing department representative decided herself to run my card,I used to pay my insurance deductible with. I was called a liar, and basically disrespected. I have notified my bank on this unauthorized charge and stopped payment on it! I will never use or recommend Azalea to anyone ever and will be filing with the BBB. read more

I have been a patient here for about 2 months and I have nothing but great things to say about this facility and the staff. I broke both my wrists and was referred by ETMC Urgent Care. Dr Carey Clark is outstanding and did a terrific job with my surgery and after care. His staff is wonderful too. I also saw the Occupational therapist Carol Hinijosa and she is 5 stars as well. My insurance is terrible and would not cover any of my injury so they were very good at working with me to pay what I can and get on a payment plan. Lisa and Lacey work for Dr. Clark, they are very professional and quick to resolve any issue I had. Great communication with all the staff here. Dr. Clark also gave me a 40% discount on my surgery because I was self pay. I can't say that for ETMC. I would definitely recommend this facility to family and friends. read more

Azalea Orthopedics - My braces - Sports Medicine Near Me - Tyler, Texas

I have been using Azalea Orthopedics for several years. I have the utmost respect for the 3 Doctors I have seen (Schrieber, Luttrel & Beck). I find these negative reviews hard to believe. The Doctors always went in to full detail to explain what needed to be done. I will always refer people to Azalea Orthopedic. read more

Do not give them your card to put on file. They will just debit your remaining balance or whatever they say it is without talking to you. I've never heard of a dr.'s office doing this. They usually ask you if you want to make a payment plan. Didn't know they had debited my card until my money came up short. I would not recommend them to anybody. I don't care how good a dr. Is if they have the wrong billing practices they will loose some patients. Anytime anyone ask you to put your debit card on file start feeling suspicious. read more

Dr. Kaminski did a complete knee replacement and I was pleased; however, the office staff is sorely lacking. I was given a list of appointments to cover the time prior to surgery and post surgery. My last visit, on an appointment made by the office, I was charged a co-pay and my insurance was billed. When I called, I was told the appointment was 4 days outside the 90 day post surgical time frame allotted. When I explained the appt. was made by their office, I was then told I saw a different doctor. I did not and the bill even states who I saw. She then said she would check into it. Two weeks later, I paid the co-pay not wanting it to go to a collection agency. I then explained the events and was told I would need to speak with the accounts manager. I was placed on hold and was 9th in the queue. After 8 minutes, I was still 9th. This is a scam all the way around. Unfortunatly, they are either money hungry and hurting financially that would cause them to lie to the insurance company and the patient. Incredibly disappointed! Look elsewhere for a good surgeon with a competent staff! This isn't that place. read more

My right knee had been giving me trouble for better than a year. My GP had it xrayed but nothing could be found, and he recommended therapy. Bullshit. Advil, a good brace, and exercise helped it quite a bit. But it started getting progressively worse. So, in late May, 2012, I scheduled an appointment at Azalea Orthopedics with a Dr. Jones (don't remember his first name), affectionately known to that well-renowned medical expert George W. Bush as "Bones Jones." Now, by this time, my knee was given me serious pain, locking up, swelling, and popping so loudly, it could be heard across a large room. Well, ol' Bones examines me and sends me for an x-ray. Hmmm, nothing to see in the xray except for a few telltale signs of arthritis. So, he wants to stick a sixteen penny nail deep into my knee and inject a pint of cortisone. No, let's keep looking. I make him schedule me an MRI. This is beyond arthritis, I'm telling you So, I have the MRI done and read. And he still can't see anything. He still wants to stick that sixteen penny nail into my knee. Oh, and lose some weight. No way, I'll survive without the damned injection. Again, the brace and Advil. Fast forward to May of 2013. I have since moved to the Pittsburgh PA area with my work. And my knee starts to give me very serious trouble. Totally locking up, extremely sharp pain when it pops, swelling up the size of a grapefruit, and just a lot of pain. I get to where I can hardly walk on it. I call a local orthopedic group and beg the lady to get me in as soon as possible. So, I go to the local orthopedic facility and get xrayed. As I wait in the exam room, a THIRD YEAR INTERN in orthopedic surgery examines me first while we wait on the big doctor. He says all of my maladies are NOT consistent with arthritis. and that something else is going on. The main doctor confirms and i get scheduled for another MRI. On my next visit to this doctor, I am told that I have two MAJOR meniscus tears along with several other minor tears. So, I am now scheduled for surgery in a few weeks. I never thought I'd say something in Pittsburgh PA was better than something in Texas. But, something in Pittsburgh PA is better than something in Texas. A supposedly well-renowned doctor in his specialty is out-diagnosed by a THIRD YEAR RESIDENT!!! Thanks to "Bones Jones" terrible misdiagnosis, I have endured a year of discomfort in the best of times, severe pain in others, the real possibility that I could have severely damaged my knee further, the expense of a second MRI, and enduring a surgery far from home. This could have been taken care of last year and I'd be past all of this. But no.The bottom line is, don't let George W. Bush recommend a doctor for you!!! read more

I want to recommend Dr Patrick Wupperman if you are having issues with your shoulder. I had to have both shoulders operated on over a 5-year period. Tears in the rotator cuff of each shoulder. Years of tennis and probably genetically weak shoulders since my Mom also had two rotator cuff surgeries. I went through an excellent physical therapy program at Azalea Orthopedic and my shoulders are 110 percent! Dr Wupperman and his staff are wonderful. read more

First of all, I am very pleased with Dr. Schwarzbach, but the office's business practices have a lot to be desired. The billing office required my portion of my fee upfront before my surgery. Fair enough. No problem there. I paid my portion in full prior to my procedure. However, when my insurance payment for the procedure came through, it turns out that I over paid. Did the billing office say anything about my excess payment? No. They kept the excess amount that I paid on their books, in silence. Did they give me the choice for a refund or to leave this amount on the books for future visits? No. They just kept using the balance for my future visits. And when I was finished with my treatment, did they say anything about my balance? No. So when I told them that I wanted a refund for my excess balance on their books...a refund of MY money, they said that it would take 8 to 10 weeks for a refund!!!! I expressed that this was not right. How is it that I had to pay upfront for my portion of the cost of my treatment, and now I have to wait 8 to 10 weeks for the return of the over-payment, for the return of my money? How is this right?!!! It has been 6 weeks now, and I still have not received my refund of over a hundred dollars!!! The billing office says that the person responsible for sending out the checks is out of the office until tomorrow?!!! You mean to tell me that when Dr. Schwarzbach is paid his salary, then he has to wait until the lady who cuts the checks has to get back in the office to cut him a check? I think not. read more

The doctors here are wonderful! However, their billing office is RUDE, TACKY, and DO NOT take care of patients when you call. They will draft your account without sending emails. You can verify your email numerous times and they will still get it wrong and blame the PATIENT. I will not take any of my family or ever recommend this place to anyone, no matter how good the doctors are. My family has NEVER been treated with such disrespect as we were with their billing office. read more

I made an appt with these folks for neck isses. First appt I saw a PA. Second appt I was seen by an NP who injected botox in my neckand referred to a pain mgmt Dr in the same building. Couldn't move my frigging neck for a week but this botox injection was supposed to alleviate the pain. First appt at pain mgmt I was seen by an NP and scheduled for some injections. The injections were administered. Never not once met the so called Doctors. After this series of injection s I was hearded out and sent home. No follow up no nothing even after paying premium charges. These guys must I be concerned with putting new tires on the mazerati because they showed me first hand that they are about volumn and spending no minimal time with the people who put bread on their tables. They have lost sight of their true purpose. I have seen many Orthos over the years and this place oozes ineptness and disinterest. Avoid at all cost if you want legit medical care. I can't say enough about how satisfied I am with Azalea Ortho and especially Dr. Patterson. Three weeks into a broken wrist, I finally sought treatment. Dr. Patterson knew I had no insurance and was careful to utilize only the services that were truly needed to repair my broken wrist. The x-rays indicated I may need surgery so he manipulated the cast on my wrist with the intent that it would possibly resolve the problem without surgery -- and it worked! He was very approachable and easy to talk with; I felt he had my best interests at heart. Thank you Azalea and Dr. Patterson!!! Tho I hope I never have to grace your doors again, I would definitely do it if I ever have another ortho issue. You "guys" were the BEST! :) read more

I would not recommend this place to anyone who actually needs help. My husband has extreme back pain which is directly effecting his quality of life and was referred here a month ago to their Tyler, TX location. The doctors dismissed his pain and sent him for other tests despite seeing the MRI and x-rays results which showed bulging discs, joint degradation and scoliosis. They did not even call with the results of these unnecessary tests but sent us a letter weeks later saying the unnecessary test results were normal as opposed to calling and scheduling the next steps so my husband can start receiving care. Once we called the doctor's office to ask why they didn't call us with the test results they say they never do because they have so many patients. Apparently if you would like to have proper care and a doctor's office who actually cares if you are receiving the care you need do not go here. Now we are having to find a different doctor so he can actually receive help for his back pain. My mother went to Christus Health in Tyler for her back pain and was scheduled for back injections within a week which has dramatically helped her back and gained her quality of life that I want for my husband. Avoid Azalea Ortho and go there. read more
