Three words: Chaotic Arcade Fun. I didn't know what to expect when I came here for the first time with my toddler but we did come out with a cute dinosaur egg, some candy, and sickness for the rest of the week. Admission is $2.50 for adults and my daughter was free at 3 years old. They were very adamant about if you leave and want to come back again within the same visit then you have to pay admission again. Ok. We were gifted some playing cards and most of the game are between 2 nickels to 6 nickels a game so a few dollars goes a long way. I did like that the tickets you win are electronically added to your card. At the end you can redeem your tickets for prizes. It looks like they also do movie viewings and parties. It's truly a germ factory with everyone touching all button, levers, controllers for all the games so I knew what I was getting into (aka sickness). They also had a snacks stand with ICEES and popcorn and a dining areas with tables. There was a good selection of games for all but maybe next time I'll be more diligent with the hand sanitizer in between the games. A great rainy day activity!

this is the second Wunderland location i've been too and honestly i was a little disappointed. i recently went to the Salem Wunderland location and was amazed by the game options and race track. so when i showed up to this location i was a little shocked at the lack of actual games in comparison to the other location. i think there were probably 30 games max in that small area. i did enjoy how this location offered laser tag - which the Salem location will offer soon but still is in the process of adding. our group has played laser tag at a few other establishments, but this by far was our favorite! shooting the laser gun was easy and we LOVED the course we played on! there was a top and bottom floor, with lots of places to hide, ramps, and cool features to the course. before you play, they take you to a room where you watch a video on the rules of the game which was helpful. the video goes over all the different features of the course, and there's almost toooo many but I can't really complain that much about that. the game last about 10 mins i think, and i feel that it was the perfect game length! overall, i probably wouldn't come back to this location due to the lack of games, except to play laser tag. once the Salem location opens their laser tag, i'd probably choose that location over this one. it's fun, but if you're looking for a lotta games i'd definitely look at other Wunderland locations.

We love coming here to catch the first movie showing then hit the games after. Space is small but the kids love the claw machines and their new pixel game that was added. Staff has been great every time we have visited this location and everything is clean.

After a VERY stressful arcade experience a few weeks ago it's refreshing to come to an arcade where $20 will get you a whole lot of play. It's been nearly an hour and these two boys have more than $17 left and have played HARD for the time they've been here. It's absolutely packed and instead of my having to try and reload my card and deal with stressed out kids and waiting in crazy long lines I can write a Yelp review while the boys play a TMNT video game. I'd say in the last week of masking, about 90% of people are masking properly. Honestly I'm not a fan AT ALL of arcades but my son is. So for the next 7-9 years, until he can drive himself, I suppose I'll be looking out for good ones. I've seen consistently a staff member walking around with cleaning supplies and wiping equipment down. This place is absolutely packed to the brim and all around it's chaos, noisy and I'm not stressed because I spent $25 instead of $50 and it looks like we'll have money for our next trip. Nickel games are the way to go!! All the games were working properly, we got in and paid easily and had 0 issues. Thanks Wunderland for a good visit!!

Immaculate!

Very clean atmosphere. Staff were courteous and patient as my son and friend paid for their movie ticket and loaded their cards. Also, the staff were very conscientious when preparing our popcorn (washing hands). The games are clean, someone walking around wiping them down continuously. There was no debris on the rug or floor.

Winner!

Normally I scan my movie pass, tell them seat me in the ADA row. Usually it is empty so I just say put me in the middle but due to the wheelchair on the seat, I can never read the numbers which I say. I was supposed to be at an event across town. It was impossible to find a safe place to park and there was no ADA parking. Due to safety, I had to give up. I figured I would just go to see The Drama instead. I was not prepared... There are a few seats taken, including the two middle seats in ADA. I looked and said to give me on of the ADA seats over to the side. She stood there staring at me before saying that those seats are reserved for companions for people who are in a wheelchair. I said those are for people who have a disability and are not able to walk up or down stairs to get to the other seats. I genuinely picked up my cane and showed it to her saying I'm not sure how much more disabled you would like me to be to get a disabled seat. She had to call over her manager, thankfully not at my request. The manager without saying a word punched in my ticket and got my popcorn looking at the other person with shock. I have known numerous people going through things like organ failure, recently received a transplant... cancer treatments... there are so many things that can be severely wrong with a person where they are challenged physically and need ADA seating or accommodations. So, I don't assume BUT I just had to put up a fight to get accommodations yet I was SHOOK seeing the very able bodied, looking couple sitting in the center of the ADA section. I was so tempted to ask if anyone gave them any crap getting those seats. I did not though because it's hardly their fault I had to go through that. I also didn't wanna disrupt them because they were super cute snuggled up together. I always assume people sitting ADA requested it for reasons - I'm not the ADA police and there were plenty of spaces.

You are the reason that people hate customer service jobs. The customer is not always right. Yes, the tickets and the food are on the pricier side. YOU CAN SEE THAT ONLINE... where you order your tickets? Some of the comments on here complain about the food options, prices and menu, then order food still...? Only to complain more... Parking is not horrible or bad. I do not know why there were comments about that? Maybe people want front row parking? Get over it. I have NEVER had a problem with parking. Have you been downtown? where you actually have to pay for parking, and where there is literally nowhere close by to your destination to park? If you are a picky eater, cheap, or both, learn how to cook, and take the time to make yourself something to eat prior to heading to this, or any theater. The seats are comfortable; the staff has been great (at least from the many experiences I've had). The popcorn has always been good; I order it almost every time. (I like the Herbs De Provence). Mindset is everything. If you enter a building mad about the money that you spent on the tickets, and/or about the prices of the food (LEAVE). If you are the type of person who needs attention right away and they are busy (LEAVE). If you need front row parking and you get bent out of shape over having to walk a few feet (LEAVE). You, this establishment, as well as the staff, will be better off.

Honestly, this place sucks…read more Walk in for a movie. The vibe is immediately off. Is this place even open? Are we supposed to be here? I ask the bartender if I can order a drink. "No, go over there." She gestures vaguely in a direction... I guess I'm meant to walk down the hall? As I wander down the hallway, lost like it's my first day at a new school, I notice the decor. Koi pond screens in the floor. It sort of feels like this place was designed by ChatGPT. Or maybe some guy who went to Las Vegas once and took every idea home with him. (More on that later, but let's just say it's absolute chaos in there. I'm surprised there isn't a McDonalds ball pit in the entrance) Anyway, I walk toward a small gathering near the door of one of the theaters, where a man is physically blocking the entrance and giving people an extremely thorough sales pitch about the menu. When he sees me, he sends me back to the bar. What da hayl? After a few minutes, he returns, walks me back to the theater, and gives me the whole spiel on his iPad. Can I unsubscribe from this part? It feels like sitting through a timeshare presentation to get a free vacation, except the vacation is just entrance to the theater you bought overpriced tickets for. Okay, finally in the man cave, er, theater. Every room feels like a man cave with a different random theme. Man cave, but vaguely Japan? Man cave, but, dunno... log cabin? Man cave, but what if the floor was also a television? It feels like every idea anyone had during construction made it into the final draft. (I'm not sure if there is a log cabin room but there probably is) 15 minutes into the movie, a waiter comes in to take orders. Not during the previews for some reason (remember, you can't order for yourself at the bar before the movie). The waiter is talking as if we're having a conversation at a bar, and for some reason, he's printing paper receipts and tearing them at a decibel so extreme an erupting volcano would've given him a side-eye. Oh, the movie has subtitles? Yeah, he's also standing in front of you. I can literally hear every part of every conversation he's having with the other patrons. "DO YOU WANT POPCORN AS WELL?!" Overall the experience feels like a psychological experiment. I'm convinced that somewhere in Studio One a lab coat-clad scientist is asking: 'What if every single aspect of this experience was bizarre and awkward?' Or maybe a prank show. Is someone secretly filming us? Did I just drop money to be pranked? This is the only local theater I've ever been to that made me want to go to a corporate theater instead.

This place and its owner understand better than most that Washington County--especially its western…read morereaches--can be incredibly difficult for cinema operators. Yes, Portland has a thriving community of independent movie theaters. Yes, closer in, there's support for places like the Joy and even the mall-based Cinemark in Beaverton. But as those concentric circles widen, you reach areas where the locals pride themselves on not going to movies and using multiplex parking lots for driving lessons. The owners of the Cornelius 9 also owned the Forest in Forest Grove and did their best to draw people into what should've been an ideal theater location. It was blocks away from a college campus, it was surrounded by bars and restaurants and it, briefly, had a brewery partner built right into the business plan. But no: As I learned by making "helpful" suggestions to the beleaguered owners years ago (so sorry, by the way), all of the creativity in the world can't save you from a surrounding pool of ingrates. They tried everything: Foreign films, ski films for the outdoor folks, partnerships with the university film department... then the parade of superhero films. None of it worked. So they consolidated their efforts here... in Cornelius. And it works. What they knew, and that the Forest Theater missed, is that you have to not only have a willing audience, but an enthusiastic one. The Cornelius 9 partners with Helvetia Cider, Ridgewalker Brewing, Retro Game Trader and other local businesses for cosplay nights, theme beers and ciders, and surrounding events. They book blockbusters, indie films, Too $hort horror anthologies, UFC fights, music documentaries, and anime. And every night in this rainbox we call Oregon, they show a drive-in movie for anyone who wants to pay a $10 per person premium not to drive down to Newberg. So while the Regals on Evergreen and TVH die their slow deaths despite being surrounded by apartment complexes and seemingly bottomless disposable tech income, this multiplex has figured out its surrounding communities and gives them what they love at a reasonable price. It's a weird stretch of MMA meatheads, anime geeks, cinephiles, and working families, but one that'll actually go out to the movies if you give them a reason to do so. Cheers to the owners for picking the right building, the right town, and the right mix of offerings. They saw space to get creative and come in a bit cheaper than the corporate competitors, and they're being rewarded for it. Take the driving lessons somewhere else, Reeds Crossing... we're trying to watch movies here.

A True Local Gem Worth Supporting!…read more In my quest to support local small businesses, I've driven past Joy Cinema many times while heading down 99W toward Tigard -- always thinking, "I really need to stop in one of these days." Fast forward to the 40th anniversary showing of Back to the Future, and I finally did it! Sure, I could have gone to one of the big movie chains nearby, but I wanted to support a locally owned theater -- and I'm so glad I did. While Joy Cinema doesn't have its own parking lot, there's plenty of parking in the shopping center just behind it. The lobby is small but welcoming, and you'll likely be greeted by the owner himself -- who runs everything from ticket sales to concessions to the movie projector. It truly feels like a one-man show, and that personal touch makes the experience so special. Plus, the prices for both tickets and snacks are refreshingly affordable compared to the big chains. The theater itself has one large screening room, and it's impressive -- spacious, comfy seats, great surround sound, and a large screen that makes for a perfect movie experience. They don't drown you in endless previews, just a couple quick ones before the feature starts. I also appreciate some of the fun movie history and facts they presented prior to the screening. I also appreciated that they have clearly marked spots for wheelchairs in prime viewing areas -- a thoughtful touch that shows care for accessibility. Unfortunately, one rude family arrived late, talking loudly and even letting their kids run around, which disrupted the movie for a bit. The owner handled it as best as anyone could -- even stepping in multiple times to address the situation. It's tough when guests behave poorly, but I really admired how he tried to keep things under control while protecting his business. After the show, the owner greeted us again and asked how we enjoyed the movie -- that kind of personal connection is rare these days. I'll absolutely be back to Joy Cinema. It's a local treasure run by someone who truly cares about movies and the community. If you're in the area and want to enjoy a film while supporting a small business, skip the big chains and check this place out!
