We had our son's birthday party here and had such a great experience. After stressing for months about where to do it - a shelter at a Seattle park was too expensive and was it wrong I wanted parents to be able to get a mimosa or latte?? We came across this place and it was perfect. We were the only party there and the owner (I believe) was super accommodating and the space was perfect. Big enough for our party of around 30 and even nice outdoor space. The Lego kid was so cool too and it was a big hit. Highly recommend! read more

Totally UNDERwhelmed. :/ The interior is cute: modern industrial design. However, that's really where my enthusiasm ended. Still too new to have a good system down for cleanliness: no regular cleaning schedule established for the lego and their "penalty box" should really be clearly marked in the Lego rooms - not at the cafe's counter. Realistically, how many parents really walk the legos that drop on the floor down to that counter? Umm.... Maybe it was just that I visited on a rainy holiday when it was busy - but really, although the physical space can accommodate so much more, the kid capacity is pretty small. It goes from fun to claustrophobic very quickly. In the duplo room over 6 kids and in the main lego table area over 8 kids will start to feel crazy w/ the parents uncomfortably sharing tables to the side. The table space can really only accommodate enough parents for a 1:1 parent:kid ratio assuming everyone is sharing tables... so, good for playdates but not so much for individual families going to visit. Overpriced to pay both admission ($6/child - even siblings despite the website listing a sibling discount which they don't honor) and severely overpriced food ($3.50 banana bread slice + $2.85 for a jr. size 4oz Odwalla). In addition, staff is pretty minimal - with obvious other priorities. Considering that the place was packed and didn't have enough seating, it was annoying that a staff member was taking up a 4-top table for their laptop & books... all ok if the place is empty but really not cool when it's busy. The hours on the site, voicemail and door are not current and no one was inside when it was supposed to be opened. It isnt hard to keep the hours current and simply just update the door, website, even voicemail. This is probably the easiest way to get customers to come. I will never bring friends or kids back since we never know when you would grace us with your presence. There are many other places where kids can play and they have the courtesy to let us know when they are actually open and follow the signs. read more

Update: Today we went and brought the hubby. It was perfect . They now have tea and more kids options for food. Both kids had an apple yogurt combo with granola and we had one of Mollys sandwiches and the blue cheese walnut salad. Dad opted for a beer as he was pretty excited about the amazing selection and I had some tea!!! So happy for that. Looks like they are on the right track and the place wasn't packed at all. Found out about this place this week and we've already been twice. My kiddo loves trains and Duplos, so the downstairs Duplo room is a huge win. It is smaller than the Lego room upstairs, but there is enough playspace. I love that the tables are the perfect height for kiddos. At one point today there were 6 or 7 kids plus adults in there and although full, everything worked out. It's great that there are duplicates of almost everything. Helps with keeping the peace! We've only spent a few minutes upstairs, but it looks fun too! I had a panini, which was tasty. Didn't get snacks today, but they had a lot of choices. My coffee was good. Will have to come back later in the day to have wine or beer (it's always available, just not a good afternoon choice for me). They have Lego classes some evenings that sound really cool. My kiddo just isn't old enough to take advantage yet. We love this place! My just turned 3 year old played for 4.5 straight today and was already asking to come back when we left. read more

Wunderkind - One of the awesome Duplo tables. - Kids Activities Near Me - Seattle, Washington

I was really excited about this place, but was a little disappointed when we went. We got there around 11:30 on a Friday, and the Duplo room felt crowded, even with just five other kids in there. The configuration of the Duplo room made it hard for parents to join in, hence all the moms sitting at the tables looking at their cell phones. Now, I'm all for kids playing independently, but because it was uncomfortable and awkward (and tight in space) for me to play alongside my son, I was a little bored sitting at the table. (Note to self: Bring a friend next time.) Also, the acoustics were magnified in the room, especially when kids were fighting over toys. (Suggestion: Can you put any padded panels on the ceiling to absorb some of the noise?) We checked out the Legos room upstairs, but unfortunately all the chairs were full. :( By 12:30, the place started to clear out, so the Duplo room seemed less chaotic, and the Legos room was completely empty. Hooray! Normally my youngest kid is ready to nap by then, but since she was doing fine, we stayed longer and got a chance to play more freely without so many other kids around. I like that they offer food there, as well as real tables for people to eat at. I was, however, disappointed to see that they were selling Costco muffins (pastries are $2-4). If I'm going to pay that much for a muffin, I kind of want better ones. Other good points, though: I loved the music that they played (not kiddie music!), and the staff was really nice. Overall, a good place for kids, but only if you don't mind feeling a little cramped at times and the noise. read more

This place worked out perfectly for us recently as we were in from out of town for some appointments at Children's but the timing of them was such that we needed to find something to do to kill time nearby on a rainy day with our 6 year old son. So many indoor activities for kids are super hectic and exhausting for parents too! This place was a comfortable, clean, modern atmosphere for mom and dad with coffee, wine, and small food options, and ideal for my son who could stand and play with Legos for hours. We came during school hours so it wasn't busy at all and it was nice and relaxed. I loved that the music playing was Beatles and music that didn't foster a hectic atmosphere. If we lived in Seattle we would totally do the monthly fee and take advantage of the Lego classes, but we will definitely come back if/when we are in the area again! Arrived on a Saturday at 3:30/4 and were told the lego rooms were closed. The website clearly says they are open until 8 and there are no indications you should call or check facebook for special hours. We considered waiting for a party to finish up to play but the person behind the counter couldn't tell us when exactly they would be done. We again figured we might get a drink and wait anyway but when I ordered a glass of wine from the menu they said they only had cans of wine. That's when we decided to just go. Really disappointing experience. Our kid was so disappointed. We won't be trying it again. read more

Wonderful local business! Friendly staff and hours of fun for the kids. It may be 'just legos' but these legos aren't cleaned up by me after hours of fun. Plenty of snacks available for purchase, and they have many local restaurants that will deliver to you. Love this place. As for birthday parties, those usually are in the afternoons. I was really disenchanted by this place. I set up a parent meeting here and when I got there, the one staff member was chatting it up at the counter with a familiar customer (?) for so long without acknowledging me. Finally (over 5 min later) I just walked in with my kids and figured he could come find me when he wanted my money for the entry fee. And why is there a fee to play with Legos? I can do that for free at home! There was no atmosphere, no music, just really dull. The snacks were overpriced on top of the ridiculous fee we paid to be there. Ugh. I won't go back. Arriving to a staff member more interested in talking to their friend that came in - the kids, girl scouts, etc - while another client waits, and waits (close to 10 minutes) to even be checked in... Only to finally find out when checking in that they don't take cash, period. This is not stated anywhere on the website and the plan had been to purchase an entire month. Learn to run a business, communicate effectively to your customers, and don't send a crying kid back home because you wouldn't take the cash in our pockets. This place is great as a rainy day activity. We were visiting from Hawaii and did "adult" activities. I.e. Shopping. The kids were bouncing off the walls wanting to do some sort of kid related thing. This is the most economical 2-hour activity that the boys loved. I wish they had this at home. I will recommend this to all of my friends. read more

Nick gave us horrible customer service! He didn't greet us. They don't take cash only card. The menu is so limited, I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich, it was not worth 5 bucks. The hot coco Nick made me burned my tongue. I wouldn't suggest going here! Won't be coming here again. This place is reliably great. Kids love legos and when you need a break or to get out of the house for awhile Wunderkind fits the bill beautifully. I've been here probably 4 or 5 times with my kids (4 y.o. boys) and it's been a blessing. While they normally have very short attention spans for just about anything, Wunderkind has managed to keep them interested and engaged for hours. This morning, I can't believe I actually stayed for about 5 hours as my son built one of the sets they have and then socialized with two other children for hours after it was built. Yes, the upstairs can get shut down for parties, but now that I know that I just adjust expectations. The new outdoor patio is a great additional space to play, and I really appreciate the overall design and how it's sturdy and pretty kid-proof. It has an easy-going vibe to it, and is about as good a bargain as you're going to find for anything to occupy kids for a few hours. The best part about it is that my kids are always clamoring to come back, even though they've got plenty of Lego at home. read more
