I have taken pole classes from a number of different pole studios (as far away as the east coast even) and I have yet to find a studio like Writhe. It is 1000% safe space with no judgment nor competition amongst students or instructors. At Writhe everybody's body is beautiful no matter what size, shape, age, or ability. No other studio I have found has the atmosphere of comfort, no judgement, acceptance, encouragement, and camaraderie to the degree that Writhe has. I can't say enough positive things about this studio. I signed up for a beginners lap dance class because I thought the idea would be fun, but I was nervous and thought I would feel awkward. The instructor Leah immediately made us feel comfortable, beautiful, and empowered. The entire class was soo much fun and I left feeling better about myself than I have in a long time. I have danced on stage in bellydance shows before, but I didn't really know much about pole dancing. I've always been curious though. I heard about the lap dance workshop just before Valentine's Day. I thought it would be fun to try and a sexy surprise for my boyfriend. But Snowmageddon happened this year and the class was postponed. Not that I'm complaining, I don't drive in the snow. When the roads finally cleared, then we had class and it was awesome! Bellydance teaches you to accept and celebrate your body and so does pole dancing. It was a very comfortable environment. The curtains were closed, the doors were locked and it was just us ladies. We let our hair down and had a lot of fun! By the end of the workshop we had a dance routine that we could perform on our own. It was a delightful surprise for my boyfriend! If you're a dancer looking for something different, try this class. As a working mom, quality me-time activities are few and far between. I stumbled across Writhe during date night with my husband and thought, "why not?" After my first Beginner class, I was hooked. Like, eyeballing-the-stop-signs-to-practice-my-new-spins hooked. The ambience, thanks in large part to co-owner and instructor Leah, is so welcoming and safe despite being in the middle of downtown Everett. She made all of us in the class feel comfortable in our own bodies while still pushing us to explore our sensuality in new ways. I finished a 6 week beginner's series here this week. Let's start by saying I more of a lift heavy things and put them down kind of gal. This was certainly outside of my comfort zone but this class was amazing. I learned a great routine and watched a dozen other women find confidence and improve week to week. I'm the type of person that hates working out....like seriously hates it. I also am the type of person who has always been incredibly shy and self conscious. However....I can't say enough good things about Writhe! I had been wanting to try pole classes for years. The only classes I ever found were down in Seattle, and I just didn't want to pay for expensive classes somewhere that I had to drive 45 minutes each way. My husband found this place online and showed it to me. We both had never known that this place existed, but I was so happy that there was a pole studio so close to home! I was nervous to go, but I wanted to try it out and do something to help me get out of my shell. I am so happy I started taking classes. Not only is it an amazing workout, it's so much fun. I don't feel like it's a chore like I do with normal workouts. I actually really enjoy it! The instructors and all the girls in class make you feel so comfortable and are so supportive and encouraging. You don't need to have dance experience. PLUS....their classes are much more affordable than other pole studios I've seen, which is really great! If your a woman and haven't tried pole dancing yet, you definitely should!
