Prior to enrollment, my son…read morehas been in Early Intervention since he was 7 months old, working with both an Occupation and Speech Therapist. He was speech delayed and developing areas of concern within his development, along with his emotions surfacing = very tough time! Transitioning from his sitter 5 days to Montessori setting 5 days was certainly an adjustment for him. It took my son a few weeks to stop crying at drop off, and months to get acclimated to the routine, work periods and the environment, and even then, still working through normal toddler behavior ie. biting, hitting pushing. As a single mom, with an only child, it was important to me that my child become independent, resilient and was within a supportive environment where his development can continue to progress regardless of the phases he is experiencing. By far, this was the BEST DECISION I have ever made. The Lead Guides and Leadership team work super hard to invest in training to ensure the classrooms are lead professionally with love. It genuinely warms my heart to know that my son has developed close relationships with his teachers and has learned to really care and love his classmates. My son was diagnosed to be on the Autistic Spectrum right around 2yo, which increased my concerns for him to develop emotional connections. I deeply know that if my son was not supported in the way he was at Guidepost, he would not have developed his emotional muscles as strongly, and build true personal connections like he has. I believe in Montessori philosophies and approach, and with the school's help and practicing this approach at home, has made me believe that my son will have equal opportunity in the world and positively make a contribution, (ok ok I know he's only two :). ) All this to say, if you're looking for an extension of your own home, where structure, community, kindness, genuine care and development opportunity is present, this is THEE PLACE. The experience is truly invaluable, no amount of money can actually repay the hard work these teachers put in every single day. Genuinely, you cannot put a price on, peace of mind, circle of community, support and programming. You will not be disappointed. After a few short months our daughter grew leaps and bounds. There's only one location and the owner is present and actively onsite on a daily basis. This business is her sole focus as oppose to there being multiple locations and a watered down level of service. As a result, the teachers are also amazing. The teachers and program director are not only top tier in terms of qualifications, but also deeply invested in the development of each child. They keep parents apprised of daily activities through pictures and it is a delight to see the variety, creativity, and the thriving children. Notably, the community and the teachers persevered through Covid and were incredibly creative teaching through Zoom, a real feat with toddlers. My son has recently returned in person because we are comfortable with the Covid precautions at Magpie. We have already seen a tremendous change in his behavior and communication since he has returned to Magpie and we credit the teachers for facilitating the transition, easing him back into the program, and working closely with him. If you are considering a daycare in the area, look no further. Magpie is much more than that--it is a supportive educational community that truly completes our village!

In less than 2 months my son contracted 3 diseases/viruses: (1) HFM (Hand, Foot & Mouth), (2) Strep Throat and (3) recently RSV. They do a terrible job of properly communicating and reporting children with illnesses. I believe they underreport the number of illnesses that occur. They have zero standards for cleanliness and hygiene. Their standards are so low, they make a Motel 6 look like a Ritz-Carlton. Not to mention, the beds these poor children sleep on look like military field gurney stretchers dating back to the Gulf War. When I picked up my son during lunch hour there was a foul smell of spoiled rotten food. It smelled like a forgotten dumpster. I'd rather walkthrough the streets of Manhattan on garbage day and the streets of Tenderloin in San Francisco. They even forgot to change his clothes after lunchtime and gave him to me with food all over him. I had to clean and change him in the car before I put him in the car seat. It's next door to a very sketchy "CASH ONLY" salon & spa business.

At 2 years of age we had to make the decision of taking our son to people we didn't know. Almost 4 years later and with a second son enrolled at bode babies we know we made the right choice. All the staff at bode babies treat our kids like family and do everything in their power to make sure our kids are safe and happy. The staff is always in a good mood and happy to see us and our kids. If we ever have questions they either have the answers or gather the information and have an answer for us within the week. Our kids are always happy to go to, as they call it school. Our son is in elementary school and behind in reading. He has received specialized reading…read moreintervention through his public school for the last 2 years, but has made minimal progress through their methods. We're so thankful for the tutoring Redwood is now providing him via zoom. His tutor is kind, patient, prompt, and gives us specific tips on how to continue helping him at home. We've met with several of the Redwood staff who are experts in their field, approachable, and so helpful when you, as a parent, feel lost but want the best for your kid. Our son is now picking up books to read out loud without being prompted! Last week he even read a book to his younger brother. He's receiving the intervention he needs to succeed in and not dread education.
