He showed up on time, was friendly and helpful and 20 minutes after dropping us off, he realized that we had left an item behind in his car - he called us and offered to drive all the way back to Return it to us. Wright's was incredibly helpful and responsive this weekend for two rides to and from a wedding/Westerly train station. Each time they were available within 2 hours of my calling. I confirmed to make sure, and both times the driver was early and waiting for pickup at the correct location. It should be noted that they are Cash Only, a fact I was not aware of. But they were incredibly accommodating and we stopped at an ATM on the way. I am so grateful that this business is available, especially since even Ubers aren't easy to get in the area. We ordered a taxi on Saturday Sept 11 for pick up Sunday morning 4:30am in Watch Hill to the airport in Providence. The taxi never showed up, never called. We called several times and no answer. They just completely went dark on us. We would never call this company again. Thankfully friends got up super early and drove us to the airport. I don't know if there's only one driver but the same guy showed up a few years apart. I forgot about him until I got a whiff when I entered the car. This driver is maybe the smelliest human I've ever encountered. Vile body odor layered over strong tobacco odor. If he's not the owner it's hard to believe that he's still employed. I had a headache after a 15 minute ride to Mystic. If New England Air suggests him pay one of them 50 bucks to drive you. You may think that it can't be that bad. It's worse. We used to rely on Wright's taxi for my father in law. We worked different shifts and he would use them on a daily basis until he retired. Before I got my driver's license I used them a couple of times. And it's no yellow cab of NYC. Sometimes there's only one driver on shift. So, me coming straight from New York City, I relied on taxis and mass transit (which Westerly doesn't have either) . I was like in culture shock. Call ahead and schedule a pick up to avoid any disappointments. And I would call to confirm as the set time rolls around. Paperwork gets lost and shifts change. Things happen. Absolutely terrible service. Called at 2:45 pm yesterday and was told someone was on their way. Called back at 3:18 pm and was told someone had shown up and left already. A couple of problems here: 1 - Nobody showed up. We were sitting at the entrance to the store where we said we would be and never saw a taxi ccome in. 2 - Nobody called me. I gave them my phone number. Someone should've called me before driving away. It's hard enough finding a tax in RI, it's much more difficult when you waste 35 minutes of your time waiting on someone to show up that never does. The dispatcher I spoke with expressed zero empathy instead made it seem like it was my fault. Terrible. read more

My friends and I came from Massachusetts and Connecticut to meet at Misquamicut Beach and it was $40-$80 for parking. So we tried to find an Uber or a Lyft but there were no cars at 9am. I found this taxi company through Yelp. They came within minutes after I called to the stop and shop plaza I was in. The driver was wearing a mask, amiable and well versed in the town he drives in, as he is a local so he was able to give us good insight on the beach. He went around the traffic and dropped us off at a place where we could walk to the beach within in minutes. Will definitely use again if I'm back by Misquamicut. read more

Because they are the only taxi service in town, the owner of this place has most of us by the balls. Never have I in my entire life encountered "I don't give a sh!t", arrogant and borderline crazy attitude from the owner lady. We called recently for a cab and her response was "you are not gonna get one for a few hours". When we asked how long she said "no idea". There were also a few other chosen words that are not suitable for this post. We ended up calling the business we visited and they sent us one of their employees. This business also eluded to the fact that our experience is not unique and the locals allegedly use words like mental, nut job and something that sounds like a female body part that rhymes with Aunt when describing the owner of this taxi place. Literally, the worst taxi service I've ever encountered. You call three times to confirm, they show up and tell you that they don't have you on any list and they are consistently 30-40 minutes late. Mind you this is the very first review I have written. While on vacation with my family we were looking to get out of the house. There are 7 of us looking to enjoy our self for the night. Excited to grab a cab and enjoy the night I called Wrights taxi and was incredibly disappointed by the lack of customer service this company has. Coming from the service industry myself I was appalled and disgusted but the "manager" on the phone. She pushes away business and puts the blame on you. She made me and my family sound like alcoholics and demanded one of us stay sober! I couldn't be more offended and I would never recommend any one give this company any business. My experience with Wright's Taxi was phenomenal. They have a new office manager, Jessica who is polite, courteous and extremely accommodating. I live on the second floor and when I didn't notice that my taxi was waiting for me the dispatcher George took the time to call me to let me know they were waiting for me instead of the driver just leaving me stranded to figure out how to get to my doctor's appointment on my own. The taxi itself was very clean inside and out. My driver Jimmy was outstanding. He knew exactly where to go and got me to my appointment with time to spare. He was extremely professional and a great conversationalist. Wright's Taxi deserves all 5 five stars and more!!! read more

I am not sure why all the negative reviews... My husband used this service just today to get a ride to work since I was working out of state. Ironically, we could not get an Uber to the Westerly area. I hesitated when I seen the reviews but went with it as it was our only option. My husband called them at 10:30 to schedule a ride for 1:30pm. The driver arrived at 1:25pm and was professional and courteous. Fares are a little high but well worth it when you are stuck with no transportation. I give them a 5+++++ read more

Shockingly, indescribably and upsetably horrible and rude. Went to a lovely wedding in watch hill, called a cab at 10:30 they said 15 minutes. Called back at 10:50 they said 30 more minutes. Called back at 11:20, understandably tired and frustrated and told we were being rude, my boyfriend was told he was acting like a "naughty boy" and they were under "no legal obligation" to send us a cab. I wrote a review a few weeks ago giving a 1 star rating because of a driver who was driving erratically on the highway endangering my family, and anyone else on the highway. I called, and had great conversations with the office manager and the secretary. So although i can not give a personal experience of hiring them for a taxi service, i can say that the people i spoke with were fantastic and that i wanted to write a second review on my experiences after speaking with management about the situation. Horrible. I have used this service twice, both times booking hours in advance of when I needed the taxi. The first time they called me an hour before I was set to leave and said they double booked and could they pick me up an hour early or an hour late. The second time I booked them to pick me up at the train station at 11pm when I got off the train I saw the Wright's taxi driver offering a ride to 2 other parties- when I said I was the scheduled pick up he acknowledged my reservation then said he would send another car.... Knowing there is a singular car in this taxi service I called the dispatcher who apologized and said the driver shouldn't have done that and would be back in 20-30 minutes. Worst part is ~ they are the only taxi in town- someone could have a nice weekend business driving taxis in westerly because there is nothing right about Wright's! read more

After booking a cab for a specific time and location several days out from a holiday weekend, where I needed to make a ferry, Wright's cancelled on me at the last minute to make way for an alternative (presumably more lucrative) fare. If you are looking to get from the Kingston Amtrak station to Quonset ferry (or vice versa), I recommend you find an alternate mode of transportation, since Wright's will leave you in a bind when it actually matters. They offered me the number of another cab company, no offer of lining up an alternate ride or contacting another company themselves. read more

Worst Taxi experience ever! I was staying a campground nearby with a friend for a long weekend. On Thursday evening we wanted to hit some of the local bars in Wakefield RI. I called for a pickup and asked if we would be able to get a taxi back when the bars closed. They stated of course just call. The driver was prompt and even waited a couple minutes while we walked to the front gate. He was pleasant and friendly giving us tips on where to get dinner and have some drinks. Again I asked him if we could get a taxi around 1 when the bars closed, he stated yes just give them a call. At 12:40 I called to get a taxi back and was told sorry we just closed! As two young women 2 hours from home we were stranded. Luckily for us locals who overheard our dilemma were kind enough to give us a ride back to the campground. If we were told (after asking twice) that they close earlier or there wasn't a chance of a ride back we would have planned our night differently. We were trying to be responsible and not drive and could have been placed in a dangerous situation! read more

The "manager" called me rude for calling after waiting an hour and a half for a cab that was supposed to arrive in 15 minutes, and told me they were under "no legal obligation" to send me a cab. Of course she was correct that there was no such obligation, but to speak that way to an understandably frustrated customer demonstrates a complete lack of business awareness and common sense. read more

I have never had worse customer service in my life. First off the taxi was an hour late almost forcing me to miss my event which would have cost me $100. I only had a 2 mile trip! I called multiple times to talk to the dispatcher who told me their last customer was an "idiot" and he's be there when he could. I was very polite the whole time and asked if she could send another driver or get in touch with that driver (she could not get in touch with him). I explained that I had a bus leaving soon and wanted to make sure I arrived on time. The taxi eventually came and the driver Eli was very nice and apologetic. This is where it went downhill. I told him I did not want to pay full price and it was nothing against him I just might have already missed the bus to the event I was going on. He called the same dispatcher I previously talked to to whom I politely explained that I didn't think it was fair that I had to pay full price and I think they should compensate me in some way. She said "I don't know what the hell you want me to do but I'll talk to your driver" I said ok thank you. The driver put the phone on speaker expecting, like I did, her to compensate me. This is what she said, "pull the fucking can over and call the police on this piece of shit"(repetitively screaming) I took the phone back and said excuse me. She said "I don't fucking have time for you, I don't know what you want me to do you can deal with the police" I told her I'm paying I just think that it's unfair and horrible customer service. She said "I don't fucking care" and hung up. Moral of the story, some people should be kept away from the public. Being a driver myself, I understand a lack of communication between dispatch and drivers sometime. I do not blame my driver for any of this as he was very polite and helpful. I do however blame the company and this dispatcher 100%. I would rather go somewhere else even if that meant paying more than have to deal with this woman again. read more

Being a college student means I don't exactly have the cash to afford to pay for parking and gas with a car on campus. This is when it's nice to rely on a hometown taxi service to get around when the buses don't run at convenient times. Unfortunately, Wrights Taxi is not that service to rely on. I've tried using them 4 times now, and not once have they showed up on time. One time in particular, I had called 2 days ahead of time to reserve a taxi at URI to catch a 6:30 train to Boston right before thanksgiving. I thought giving them a 2 days notice would ensure I would have the taxi ready for me at 6:00 am like I had asked. Nope, they never showed up, and when I called to see why they informed me the roads were bad and they weren't endangering their drivers. But I received no phone call notification my ride wouldn't be showing up, and in turn lost $46 on a train ticket. Since then, I have used them only when absolutely necessary, but they still continue to not show up on time, or at all. All in all, if you have no other choice, you can try using them, but I wouldn't recommend it... read more

If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. Our experience with them was absolutely horrendous. Customer service was the worst I have ever experienced, and I have never felt so disrespected as a patron in my entire life with any service I have ever received. I am not a complainer by any means, and typically live life by a "glass half-full" mentality, but this company made it hard to try to see the silver lining in what can only be described as pitiful service, at best. We were in town for a bachelorette weekend, and literally months before we called to not only reserve taxi's for our evenings out, but to confirm that they had vehicles large enough to accommodate 7 adults. They assured us when we made the reservation that they would be able to meet our requests, and that they were happy to help us. My friend decided to call a week before to reconfirm that we had a vehicle for 7 people and that they could be there at a certain time, and they told her they did not have a vehicle large enough, now we would have to take two cars. I am not sure why the story changed just about a month later, and we were certainly not pleased to now have to pay double for transportation to safely get around town, but given that they are the only service in the area, we politely confirmed the times and dates we needed them, and they assured us they would be there. Well, they weren't there, on time on either of the occasions that we needed them. We were 30 minutes late for one of our dinner reservations, and when we called to ask where they were, they told us "someone is on their way." Five times. Then when we called back to be sure that they were still coming, the woman on the other end of the phone started talking to us like it was our fault that they were late! The lack of professionalism is beyond embarrassing, and I will never ever use this service again. They then told us that they would "make up for the issue" and do something for us in terms of not having to for one of the rides, and they didn't even follow through on that! As a group, we agreed that we would rather rent a car for the weekend that is large enough to accommodate all of us, than to ever give this company another dime of our money.
