As well as the Post Office counter there is a shop selling the usual cards and gifts and a passport photo machine. Sadly Greenhills Shopping Centre is lacking shops and life these days and the last two times I have been to the post office at lunch time there has been no queue which leads me to believe it won't be around for much longer. The staff are friendly enough and willing to help out where needed. My mail always gets where it's going so I have absolutely no complaints about the place.

The post office is located in the back of the news agent/convenience store. Service was quick and speedy, just the how I like it. The staff are quite friendly and helpful. Overall, they are pretty knowledgeable about postal and royal mail services. It was hilarious to overhear the customer before me wanting to send a parcel by courier. To which the woman replied, "we don't do courier service here... where are you sending it to?" The man replied, "I don't know." The woman was patient as she explained that she couldn't help him if he didn't know where it was going... what a numpty.

All you can do here is send parcels or buy stamps. That's it. It's bizarre, but this Post Office sticks in my mind more than others, and in all honesty I quite like it as I can imagine that I'm an extra from Mad Max when I'm in here, sending out a few postcards before a dangerous trip out on the wasteland.

There's no 'Birthday's' or 'Thorntons' concessionary here trying to take advantage of poor sods who've only just remembered an important card or parcel worthy event. Best of all, due to it's bleakness and purely functional purpose, it's usually really quiet and the few people who may be queued do so in an orderly fashion. There's no dilly or dallying going on. No-one jumping in and out of the queue in order to pick up some vitally needed bendy pen with fluff stuck to it's top or some such nonsense. No sir. It's a small local Post Office with allows you to post stuff. Bravo.

The staff are kind of friendly. Not super friendly. But friendly enough. For large parcels there's a hatch to pop your stuff in, and they tend to be pretty efficient so there aren't too large queues. Note: if you have cash, you can pop out to the Royal Mail Delivery Centre off Ayr Rd to do you posting. But you might as well do it here.

Small queues, and I've only ever received friendly and efficient treatment from the employees here. In actual fact it's rather irritatingly shoehorned into a small RS McColl's meaning it's a complete nightmare to queue in. It's a large building with many different parts to it of which the actual Post Office counter is only a part. There is a newsagents, a (tacky) gift shop and a cafe. The service from the Post Office staff is always helpful and friendly but there has been more of them standing outside having a smoke than behind the counter on more than one occassion when I've been there. The clientele bring a certain ambience to the locale. I've never heard so much swearing in a public queue in my life and there's usually a small crowd of tracksuits at the front door waiting on one of their friends cashing a giro or stealing a Mars Bar from the newsagents. Great if you're only in it for the Post Office but the rest of it makes it all a bit weird for me.

Having recently undergone a pretty drastic face lift, the Charing Cross Post office is now a rather pretty looking wee place which is bright, clean and fit for purpose. Friendly staff and ques that ain't as long as the Great Wall of China, make this a nicer experience than some of the other more central PO's. Oh, one more thing. I know somebody who actually gave birth to her second kid right there in the very post office. That was about 9 years ago and the staff still remember who she is...thats just cool.

There are several windows so multiple customers can be served at once and I've never been in with fewer than two of these running. The shop sells standard convenience store items as well as anything you might need in a post office, including stationary, bubble wrap, boxes and packaging. It's spacious and well laid out so that even when there are a lot of customers in the branch, it isn't difficult to get around and it doesn't feel over crowded. The staff are helpful and polite and are happy to make suggestions or give advice if you need it. I especially like that there's a large poster on the wall with a little Charing Cross history on it. That seems like a nice touch and I was tempted to stop and read it but, thanks to how efficient the staff are, I didn't have a long enough wait. Only two things prevent this branch from getting five stars. The first is that it doesn't have an ATM, which I've seen in other branches and I feel like the have space for. The second is that the opening hours are a bit limited - they're only open 07:30-17:30 Monday-Friday. Staying open just an hour later, or opening for a few hours on Saturdays would making using this branch far more convenient.

There have never been big queues which is a nice change from other post offices I have frequented. You can park outside or further along the road as it is not 'yellow lined' or parking metered. There is a chemist next door if you need to pick anything up which is handy.
