From the first consultation with Stuart and his team, I felt at ease and they helped me with the mess that my previous lawyer had left in my lap. I had some special circumstances regarding my divorce, but Stuart stepped up and made everything very easy to handle. He and his team were very communicative, worked hard to get my case settled, and ultimately were great sources of peace during a rough period of my life. Despite having moved out of state after I separated, Stuart made sure everything was taken care of and that I was made aware of court dates well ahead of time, also ensuring they'd be online so I wouldn't need to fly back. I highly recommend this team, as they made an already stressful situation that much easier to handle thanks to their professionalism.

Instead, I found myself navigating critical safety concerns largely on my own. When I asked for assistance with filing an Order of Protection, I was told that "wasn't what I hired him for." That moment revealed something I did not expect to discover in a lawyer: an unwavering belief in the limits of his role, even when a child's safety was central to the case. Throughout my engagement, important evidence I provided was not presented, court preparation was minimal, and communication about procedures was unclear. I repeatedly found myself unsure of what had been filed, what had been argued, or what to expect in hearings that determined my child's day-to-day reality. What made this even more disorienting was the tone of some of the commentary I received. Rather than focusing on legal strategy or documented concerns, discussions veered into personal territory -- including remarks about hormones and "rabbit holes" -- which felt dismissive during an already stressful time. Financially, I was billed for work that did not translate into courtroom action, clarity, or preparation. The imbalance between cost and tangible representation left me asking a question no parent should have to ask while paying for counsel: "Am I actually being represented?" I'm sharing this so other parents understand what I wish I had known: a lawyer can be physically present and yet functionally absent. Family court is not theoretical. It involves children, safety, and irreversible outcomes. Clients deserve a legal advocate who sees the gravity of that -- not someone who treats concerns as detours. I cannot recommend this firm based on my experience.

If you are looking for competent bankruptcy representation, I strongly encourage you to look…read moreelsewhere. My wife and I were forced into personal bankruptcy after a business failure during the credit crisis. We retained Preston Gardner at Davis Miles to represent us during an already stressful and financially devastating period. Unfortunately, major mistakes were made in handling our case. Among the most serious issues was the failure to properly file a Motion to Compel Abandonment, which nearly resulted in us losing our home. In addition, reaffirmation agreements on an auto loan and second mortgage that we continued paying flawlessly were not properly handled, causing avoidable damage to our credit reports. The fallout from these mistakes was significant. We ultimately had to hire a different bankruptcy attorney to repair the damage and correct the problems created during the process. In total, the errors cost us approximately $30,000. Thankfully, with competent legal help, we were eventually able to protect our home and stabilize our situation. However, the experience with Davis Miles added unnecessary financial harm and stress during one of the most difficult periods of our lives. I would strongly caution anyone considering this firm to do extensive research and carefully evaluate their options before proceeding.

The representation was decent depending on the lawyer. However, I recently called regarding a property lien and I spoke to two different attorneys. They both told me to tell the title company to ignore the lien because it is not a valid lien. What law firm would think that a title company whose only job is to guarantee a clean title would just ignore a lien??? Alien is a legal issue that needs to be handled legally. When I called back a third time insisting I needed legal representation they indicated they could not help me, they refused to even refer an attorney, so I could not even hire one of their attorneys if I wanted to. Luckily I have a client who is an attorney at Goodman Law who once contacted immediately located documentation that the lien was invalid and got it removed from our title LEGALLY. Thank you Goodman Law and goodbye Legal Shield!

This business is a scam and has really impacted my life! I wish I would have read the reviews on…read moreTopix 12 months ago - because obviously I am far from alone. I originally met with the attorney and owner Dan G. I payed him money and signed a contract; he was going to help me file bankruptcy after my divorce. He seemed like a good guy which is unfortunate because apparently 1 mo later, he was arrested for 2nd degree murder! (seriously) This of course, was unbeknownst to me. In the meantime, BH was sitting on my money while I was further stashing away Cashiers Checks in their name. They DID communicate with me and they DID NOT - at any time - chose to tell me of the MANY changes that had taken place inside the firm. Fast forward.. I walk in... ready to file. Single Mom now. Surprise: No Dan. NOT going to honor my contract. NO Bankruptcy Helpers - they basically 'use' the name. I could have been saving... planning... something. Instead, I apparently am S.O.L. and devestated! There's not even a 'Manager' or 'person in charge' - one of THOSE situations! Very deceiving and immoral. And again - apparently MANY share my experience. This was a BAD bad day. I think Dan was a good guy that made a tragic mistake. It seems to have all gone down hill since then.
